With so much going on in around Cornwall this autumn, we just had to squeeze in another mini issue of Kids Love Cornwall Living to share it all with you. With half term, Halloween and Bonfire Night all fast approaching, we’ve been ruffling through the cupboard to find our scarves and hats, preparing to get outside and have some fun! In our opening feature, we give a little bit of a taster of what to expect across Cornwall. From wonderful woodland walks (where you’ll discover some creepy crawlies and other furry creatures) to fancy dress and pumpkin carving competitions, there’s a whole host of reasons to get out and celebrate the season. We hope you enjoy reading and get a few ideas for autumn activities to discover yourselves!

Y
es, autumn is finally upon us. he nights are drawing in, the cloc s soon turn bac and the leaves are falling off the trees. But it’s not all doom and gloom. hristmas is ust around the corner and for many it’s our favourite time of year. he tourists may have all gone home, but this is when ornwall really comes alive
Sp o o k s
he countryside is awash with warming, golden and rusty colours. t’s a great time of year to get active with the children playing in the leaves, discovering wildlife, creating pump in lanterns and ma ing hearty vegetable soups. o this half term and Halloween, wrap up warm with scarves and big coats during the day, and then get cosy around the fire in the evenings.
Halloween is ever growing in popularity and we’re really spoilt for choice this year with a whole host of spoo y trails, nocturnal woodland wal s, and pump in carving competitions to en oy. hen, of course, there’s the best bit of all dressing up ids will be donning their spoo iest attire and causing a real fright. Heartlands and ornwall old are both celebrated for championing ornwall’s rich mining heritage, but a visit to either this Halloween promises an e perience of an altogether more creepy nature. nd your little ones will love getting into the spirit, with loads of Halloween
parties, from he eahorse at entewan ands, to the spoo y disco at aradise ar in Hayle. f you want to get a little closer to nature, and have a fright at the same time, head to one of the great gardens. here are some seriously spoo y trails through par s and woodlands at Heligan, anhydroc , otehele House and the ornish eal anctuary in wee , with more creepy activities at rebah and rerice. f you’re really up for a scare, head out on the ghostly evening tour of endennis astle, to meet the ghoulish former occupants who refuse to leave.

Here, the ids will search for fungi and mini beasts and then discover the important role they play in recycling rotten leaves. nd to top it all off, nys ardens in enryn hosts a celebration of autumn with activities for all the family. ornwall is famed for the uality of light and if you li e to loo out upon the night s y, why not try a spot of starga ing at rerice with ernow stronomers nd then there’s Bonfire Night, too, so e pect plenty of fantastic firewor s displays going on across ornwall. gain Heartlands promises to deliver a spectacular e plosion of colour in the s y.
