2. Engage with industry Every day our National Business Development team are working alongside engineering employers to provide tailored support and introduce relevant services. Our Professional Development Program (PDP) continues to go from strength to strength, with an increasing number of employers realising the benefits of supporting their engineers to become Chartered. 3. Think outside Australia With more than 5,000 members living overseas, we're dedicated to ensuring your education, skills and credentials are recognised internationally. In February 2013, we entered a new mutual recognition agreement with the Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ), and Australia was granted full signatory status of the Dublin Accord for Engineering Associates. Our bid has been successful – Engineers Australia will be hosting the 2019 World Engineers Convention! Engineering is a truly global profession. Be heard Engineers Australia works for its members, by ensuring their interests are promoted to government through ongoing advocacy activities, and by engaging with media and other stakeholders daily to assist members and the organisation to achieve their goals. Engineers Australia continues to increase its media presence at a radical rate, with a 140% increase of media coverage so far in 2014 when compared to the same months in 2013. Engineers Australia is the trusted voice of the profession. We are the global home for engineering professionals renowned as leaders in shaping a sustainable world.


5. Support the next generation Efforts to secure the future of the engineering profession in Australia include: developing student and graduate strategies, engaging academia, and facilitating education via an extensive schools outreach program. EA Connect, an exclusive service for student and graduate members to find work experience and placement opportunities. PLUS study brEAk: the new monthly eNewsletter for student members.

EngQuest reached over 100,000 primary and middle-year school students in 2013, making it the largest schools outreach program of its type in Australia. 6. Support education Engineers Australia engages with academia and accredits university courses, improving engineering qualification outcomes. Last year, we considered the accreditation of over 160 programs from 18 providers including; universities, TAFE institutes, and offshore campuses.

7. Access resources and career advice We support members at all stages of their career through our Career Development Centre and by providing access to extensive online resources. EA Connect is an effective online system for engineering employers to raise the profile of their organisation, and promote work placement opportunities to student and graduate members for free.

8. Connect and learn Engineers Australia's learned societies provide continuing professional development (CPD) for members through regular conferences, publications and visiting speakers. Convention 2014 will be the largest engineering event ever held in the southern hemisphere, bringing together all areas of the engineering profession. We’re enhancing our conferences and events, now managed in-house, with increased attendance and improved financial results for 17 major conferences, 7 eminent speaker tours and 10 national seminar/ workshop series.

Experience world-class member service Through our Management Information System (MIS) project, we are significantly investing in new technologies to better serve our members. myPortal is the new way to manage your membership. The first release allows you to view, edit and renew your membership securely online. The MIS renewal is now over 70% complete. We are rapidly becoming a contemporary and progressive organisation that is relevant to every engineering professional.
