Christie Ward, communications manager, talked about the organization and its participation in Give Local York, a countywide day of fundraising set for May 1: What is the mission of Vickie’s Angel Foundation? Our mission is to serve as a temporary financial bridge for families fighting cancer who cannot pay their bills while going through cancer treatment. Our goal is to take away the financial worry, allowing them to focus entirely on beating this disease. Why is the organization excited to participate in Give Local York this year? York is one of the nine counties we serve. We welcome all opportunities to increase our ability to keep people in their homes, help with food and utilities, and offer hope during one of the most difficult times in their lives.

Local author Kevin Buck will speak at two York County Libraries locations in March. The programs are free to the public, and each will be followed by a book signing. On Saturday, March 14, at 10:30 a.m., Buck will present the program “Looking for Miss Crabtree: Classic Film and TV at the Paul Smith Library of Southern York County, 80 Constitution Ave., Shrewsbury. The graves he has searched for include those of Humphrey Bogart; Red Skelton; Edgar Buchanan, Uncle Joe from “Petticoat Junction; Irene Ryan, Granny from “The Beverly Hillbillies; and Cliff Edwards, the voice of Jiminy Cricket.
