DreamWrights Center for Community Arts, 100 Carlisle Ave., York, will present the musical “A Little Princess,” based on the classic novel. Shows will take place on Fridays, Oct. 25 and Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 26 and 27 and Nov. 2 and 3, at 2 p.m. The Nov. 2 show will be a Touch Tour and audio-described show. Reservations are required by calling DreamWrights at 717-848-8623 or by emailing info@ dreamwrights.org. Guest director Amanda Nowell said she had not heard of the musical before DreamWrights planned its 2019 season. When the season was announced, she picked up a copy of the book and began to research the musical itself. She said
she was drawn to the show’s music, which includes ballads and African tribal numbers. Nowell said she is excited to bring the big ensemble numbers to life with choreography and complicated rhythms through the help of her two choreographers. Nowell is also the vocal director for the show. “A Little Princess” is recommended for people age 10 and up. Tickets may be purchased in advance, or they may be purchased at the door for a higher price. Tickets can be purchased without additional fees at https://dream wrights.org/.
