Terre Hill To Hold Christmas In The Park BY ANN MEAD ASH
he third celebration of Terre Hill’s Christmas in the Park will be held Friday, Dec. 4; Saturday, Dec. 5; and Sunday, Dec. 6, from 5 to 9 p.m. each evening in the park located at 210 Lancaster Ave., Terre Hill. John Styer and his helpers have been working since October to prepare the lighted trail and other displays for the event.
evening, will be by suggested donation. A golf cart will be available to help those with mobility issues enjoy the lighted scenes. Other outdoor activities designed to delight people of all ages will include live ice carving on Dec. 4 and 5, mini golf, and fire pits for making s’mores. Styer noted that a number of holiday craft vendors will be attending, and the Northeastern Lancaster County Food Bank will have a display.

“We have tens of thousands of lights, said Styer, who noted that new scenes and displays have been created especially for the 2020 trail. “We moved things around, and we have new lighting, so those who came before can expect something different, said Styer. Admission to the event is free, but the lighted trail, which offers a live Nativity from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each
Working to prepare the Terre Hill Park for Christmas are (from left) Noah Keckler, Daniel Styer, and John Styer.
“(Activities) will be spread out throughout the park, said Styer. Outdoor entertainment will include a different musical group each night on the Terre Hill Park stage. On Dec. 4, Left Field will play. On Dec. 5, the group Echo North will take the stage, and on Dec. 6, The Martin Sisters Band will be featured. “ We will still have several indoor activities, noted Styer. “ We will offer several crafts, which are free. Some indoor activities will be held at Vibrant Church, which is adjacent to the park. The number of people inside a building will be limited, and masks will be required to enter certain areas, such as the craft and vendor areas. Food, including kettle corn and funnel cakes, will be available for purchase at the pavilion each night. Styer noted that a separate coffee stand will be on-site. Visitors to the park will have the opportunity to pick up a map with a list of homes participating in the Terre Hill Christmas decorating competition. Styer said visitors are welcome to vote for their favorite houses online at www.terrehill days.com. Winners will be announced the following week. “It will be a different event this year, but hopefully people can still enjoy it, said Styer. “Even if they only want to see the trail, groups will be spaced apart, so they can do that in their safety and comfort.
Goodman Chiropractic Opens In Ephrata Goodman Chiropractic has opened at 3440 Rothsville Road, Ephrata, after a fire destroyed its previous New Holland location in 2019. After working with the founder of an upper cervical technique in Michigan for three years, chiropractor Dr. Steven Goodman moved to Lancaster in 1980. He developed the Goodman Method of Chiropractic, which focuses on the upper cervical spine. He notes that because the head and neck are vital to one’s balance, the specialized service focuses on getting to the root of debilitating pain, See Goodman Chiropractic pg 3

Month of November
Last year, organizers of Journey to Bethlehem, an a n n u a l f u n d r a i s e r fo r Woodcrest Retreat, changed the script a little by having participants meet up with a Roman guard on the journey. This year, a few more changes are planned. Some of those changes are related to COVID-19 restrictions, but others are designed to enhance the experience for those who attend. Journey to Bethlehem differs from other live Nativity presentations because participants are given the opportunity to become part of the Christmas story as they follow Mary and Joseph to the stable where Christ was born. The 10th annual event will be held at the retreat center, 225 Woodcrest Drive, Ephrata, on Fridays, Dec. 11 and 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays, Dec. 12 and 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. Adults and children who attend Journey to Bethlehem may participate in specific scenes leading up to and including Christ’s birth. As they travel with the characters from the Bible, participants will witness the angel’s visit to Mary and then walk to Bethlehem, where they will experience, along with Mary and Joseph, the disappointment of finding there is no room at the inn. The journey will also take attendees to a marketplace, where they may spend a shekel to purchase raisins or crackers, and then to a field, where they will gather with shepherds to hear the angels announce Christ’s birth. Finally, visitors will arrive at a stable to see the Christ child in the manger. Adam Fox , summer camp d i r e c t o r a t Wo o d c r e s t
Retreat, noted that the final stop, which in past years included a movie, will now be a live presentation that takes place in the palace of one of the wise men. “In the final scene, the wise men … have just discovered a sign in the stars,” explained Fox. “They will debate ... whether they Preparing to take part in Journey to Bethlehem are should risk a long danger- (back, from left) Jordan Weaver, Brandon Dasilva and (front) Greg Gattuso. ous journey of many months through the desert to see this king. In the end, they decide it’s worth it because the king is worth it.” To stay within COVID-19 limitations for buildings, organizers ask that those who wish to attend register First Time Ever for a particular time slot by v i s i t i n g w w w. w o o d c r e s t High End Merchandise retreat.org. particularly chronic pain. Migraines and pain in the face, arms, back, and legs are treated at the atlas and C1 vertebra using an instrument Steven invented to tap under the skull and level the head without twisting the neck. Clients have traveled from Greece, Ukraine, and England to receive treatment at Goodman Chiropractic. The practice is built on the precept of the Golden Rule. “We treat people like we want to be treated, with the highest standards of care and dignity, regardless of color, race, or economic situation,” Steven said, noting that the practice values efficiency and integrity and never providing more treatment than necessary. Eleven years ago, Steven’s middle son, John, took over the business and Steven and his wife, Elaine, opened a practice in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The couple recently moved back to Lancaster County to spend time with their grandchildren and youngest son, Michael. John will be traveling, so Steven will resume leadership of Goodman Chiropractic. The office is open by appointment. Individuals may call 717-466-5888 to schedule. For more information, they may visit www.the goodmanmethod.com.

Families can preregister for this event by calling the United Way’s 211 or 855567-5341 from Friday, Nov. 27, through Friday, Dec. 11. Registration is required no later than Dec. 11. A volunteer will deliver the holiday meal to registered participants on the morning of Dec. 19. The project anticipates distributing over 1,200 boxes of turkey dinners with all the trimmings to low-income families throughout Lancaster County. In addition to this year’s partnership with the United Way of Lancaster, the LCPN will also continue the partnership with Elizabethtown Community Homeless Outreach Services, Conestoga Valley Christian Community Services (CVCCS), the Columbia Lions, and Solanco Food Pantry to provide meals to families in designated areas. The LCPN is still seeking donations to offset the cost of purchasing the groceries for the dinner. The project relies on individual donations for over two-thirds of the resources needed to fund the food distribution. For information about how to contribute, readers may visit www.lcpn.org.

With many people spending more time viewing digital screens during the pandemic, the new “Screen Time-Out” program is a series of social media graphics reminding consumers to give their eyes a break. Staring at screens for long periods

Graphics for the campaign will run on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. A new webpage has also been created to provide consumers with information on digital eye strain, blue light, and more related to helping to protect one’s vision at http://pre ventblindness.org/screen-time-out.
