PVPL Schedules Annual Fundraising Gala a By Ann Mead Ash

Library director Catherine O’Sullivan cannot wait to see the Pequea Valley Public Library (PVPL) after it is set up and decorated for the annual Tasting Gala. “This is one of our major fundraisers, and it’s beautiful,” said O’Sullivan. “The library is transformed with candlelight and tablecloths.” The 2018 event, which will be held at the library, 31 Center St., Intercourse, will offer attendees tastings of a variety of foods and beverages. This year’s tasting will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3. A few high-top tables

offered samplings of roasted beef tenderloin with caramelized onions, blue cheese crumbles, and burgundy reduction, along with the popular creamy crab and corn chowder. “The soup is the high point,” said O’Sullivan. “That is a big (draw).” Shrimp cocktail, hoisin grilled pork tenderloin with Asian slaw, and local cheeses will also be served. This year’s dessert table will feature a variety of sweets, including chocolates donated by local businesses. Hot milk sponge cake will be brought to the venue by Sadie Ebersol, and sweet treats will be provided by a neighboring bakery. International coffees and teas

foundation is aiming to provide $25,000, with Live Like Lukas donating $50,000; this $75,000 will be matched at Nemours for a total of $150,000. A total of $16,000 toward the foundation’s $25,000 donation was raised at its Denim and Diamonds event on Sept. 30. The community is invited to donate
