The cast of the high school’s spring musical, “Mamma Mia,” will serve a spaghetti dinner as a fundraiser. At several points throughout the evening, the student waiters will perform songs from the musical, featuring songs by the group Abba. The annual dinner will feature all-you-can-eat spaghetti with a choice of meatless or meat sauce, as well as bread, fresh salad, an assortment of hot and cold beverages, and a variety of home-baked desserts. Tickets for the dinner are available from any cast member or at the door, with separate prices set for adults and for children under 10. Groups Will Revive Community Dinner Event The Federated Women’s Club of Hershey has joined forces with the Hershey Lions Club to renew the annual pork and sauerkraut community dinner. The event will take place on Sunday, March 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 433 E. Main St., Hummelstown. The dinner was a tradition for more than 30 years and was last served in 2017. It helped fund scholarships totaling more than $100,000 for high school students. The Hershey Lions Club, upon learning of the tradition’s discontinuation, saw an opportunity for the clubs to work together for the benefit of the community. The upcoming meal will feature the homemade desserts for which the Federated Women’s Club of Hershey is well-known. Takeout meals will be available. Tickets will be pre-sold starting
in early February. The Federated Women’s Club of Hershey, founded in 1962, supports a variety of local charities, including Cocoa Packs, the Hershey Food Bank, domestic violence shelters, the People Movers, Camp Catherine and local libraries. More about the Federated Women’s Club of Hershey is available by searching for “Federated Women’s Club of Hershey” or “@FedWomensClubHershey” on Facebook. The Hershey Lions Club has been continuously serving the residents of Derry Township since the club’s organization and charter in 1944. Folk Music Artist To Perform Concert Tracy Grammer, a contemporary folk music artist, will present a concert on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 7:30 p.m. at Fort Hunter Centennial Barn, 5300 N. Front St., Harrisburg. The event is sponsored by Susquehanna Folk Music Society (SFMS). Grammer is known for her alto voice, violin, and guitar. She rose to prominence as half of the duo Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer. Between 1998 and 2001, they released three internationally celebrated, chart-topping albums. In 2002, they toured with Joan Baez both as featured artists and as her bandmates. That year, Carter suffered a massive heart attack and died at age 49. Determined to honor their trajectory and keep Carter’s songs alive, Grammer stayed on the road, releasing several solo and archival recordings, including “Little Blue Egg,” which was the
No. 1 most played album on folk radio in 2012 and contained that year’s No. 1 most played song. Grammer is currently touring to celebrate the release of “Low Tide,” her first album of original songs. Co-produced with longtime touring partner and multiinstrumentalist Jim Henry, who will appear with Grammer in the concert, the album was released Jan. 19, 2018, on Grammer’s own label. Grammer plays at theaters, coffeehouses, and festivals across the U.S. and Canada regularly, and she has traveled to Europe and Japan. She is the director of the Dave Carter Legacy Project, and her publishing company administers licenses for Carter’s catalog of music. She is writing a memoir and curating a new musical monologue called “words & music.” Separate ticket costs have

Spotted Lanternfly Quarantine Information Posted Choral Society Sets Concert The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture is encouraging businesses to obtain the required spotted lanternfly permit to ensure they are complying with the spotted lanternfly quarantine orders. As the next phase of the spotted lanternfly life cycle gears up, now is an ideal time for businesses to learn how they can jumpstart this spring’s fight. There is no cost to businesses to obtain a permit. Under the law, businesses in Pennsylvania need to take the online permit training and exam and receive a permit for their vehicles. The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture continues its work to contain and minimize the spread
of the spotted lanternfly while also keeping commerce flowing in Pennsylvania. In November 2017, 13 Pennsylvania counties - Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, and Schuylkill were placed under quarantine to help stop the spread of the spotted lanternfly. States with spotted lanternfly populations are also required to follow the permit requirements for Pennsylvania. This will help prevent the movement of the pest from other states into Pennsylvania. The spotted lanternfly permit training teaches business owners,

managers, and designated employees how to comply with the quarantine - an important legal designation to help stop the spread of spotted lanternfly - to ensure each of their employees are complying with the law. The quarantine order directs businesses, residents, and county authorities to follow guidelines to prevent the movement of the certain articles that contain any living stages of the spotted lanternfly, including egg masses, nymphs, and adults such as logs, stumps, or any tree parts; nursery stock; crated materials; and trucks or vehicles not stored indoors. By investing time and personnel to inspect vehicles to safeguard against transporting insects, people can help to ensure this pest does not reach farther beyond those counties that are already quarantined. As part of the spotted lanternfly quarantine agreement beginning on Wednesday, May 1, The Department’s Bureau of Plant Industry will begin to perform inspections and verification checks to confirm that businesses are properly permitted. Failure to take the permit exam and educate employees could result in possible penalties and fines. The permit training and testing can be accessed through Penn State Extension by visiting https://extension.psu .edu/spotted-lanternfly-permit -training. 2011. He has led Scouts on High Adventure trips including the Florida Sea Base sailing expedition in the Florida Keys in temperatures reaching 120 degrees Fahrenheit; has hiked more than 130 miles in New Mexico at Philmont at an elevation of 13,000 feet; has paddled more than 65 miles in the backwaters of Northern Tier in Atikokan, Canada; and has taken a group of Scouts to the National Jamboree in the hills of Bechtel, W.Va. He has also led Scouts on winter Klondike trips and has led them to numerous summer camps on the East Coast. Kevin teaches more than one dozen merit badges. At the Court of Honor, the members of the troop held a roast, sharing their favorite memories or “Kevinisms” from over the years. The common theme was Kevin’s sense of fun and adventure, his positive attitude and his love of Scouting. Bill Lee took over as Scoutmaster effective Jan. 1, 2019. Kevin remains active in the troop as an assistant Scoutmaster, focusing on leadership training skills. The holiday-themed celebration ended with a festive gift exchange game, complete with Jamie Barrick serving as one of Santa’s elves to deliver a story. Upcoming events for Troop 97 include a Klondike winter camping trip at Seven Mountains in Spring Mills as well as numerous Eagle Scout projects. For more information, readers may contact Kevin Little at 717-944-1957 or Ted Pauley at 717-944-2766. Troop 97 is sponsored by the Londonderry Fire Company.
