I think it’s amazing that we can tell our advertisers we reach well over 90 percent of the households in our market area, while at the same time smaller businesses can select the individual publications and even ZIP codes that will do the best job reaching their current and potential customers. I look forward to working with our knowledgeable and caring staff in forming partnerships and creating relevant advertising solutions for area businesses, including our rapidly growing website, TownLively.com.” Noel’s wife, Linda, is a native of Lancaster County. The Tri-County Conewago Creek Association (TCCCA) will hold its 11th annual Conewago Creek Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 27, from noon to 4 p.m. The event will take place on the banks of the creek at Aberdeen Mills, 2405 Mill Road, Elizabethtown. In the case of rain, the family-friendly event will take place on Sunday, April 28, with all times remaining the same. A variety of activities will be offered during the afternoon. A wildflower and tree identification walk will kick off at noon. Tours through the old mill will also be offered. Visitors from a local zoo will give a live animal presentation at 1:30 p.m. The hourlong presentation will feature various creatures that are native to the area. Attendees may bring a lawn chair or blanket if they prefer to sit during the show. At 3 p.m., the Lancaster County Conservation District will conduct a stream study with the purpose of investigating what aquatic insects are present in order to determine the health of the stream. An electro-fishing demonstration will take place immediately afterward. An electrical current will be run through the water, temporarily stunning the fish. The fish will then be collected in nets, temporarily placed in a fish tank, and identified to assess water quality. All fish are affected by electricity, so this method potentially produces fish that often elude anglers. Food will be available for purchase, with

Students participated in an interactive game that invited them to review what they learned from the book by matching meal times on a clock to the work farmers do to produce the foods in those meals. The Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation is an educational charitable organization supported by Pennsylvania Farm Bureau whose mission is the preservation and promotion of agriculture with an emphasis on creating educational programs for children. Hundreds of Pennsylvania farmers recently visited classrooms to read a book to young students to celebrate Ag Literacy Week, which is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation (PFAF), a charitable group supported by Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB). More than 200 Farm Bureau members visited more than 1,460 classrooms and reached approximately 36,000 students in 54 counties during the third annual celebration of Pennsylvania Ag Literacy Week, held March 18 to 22. The foundation selected the book “Right This Very Minute” by Lisl H. Detlefsen, a table-to-farm book about food and farming.

Master Gardeners To Offer Services

The American Heart Association recently enlisted the help of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank to distribute a special winter gift to local families. More than 600 hand-knitted red infant hats packaged with health information for parents were to be distributed to throughout the food bank’s network of partner organizations. The effort is part of the American Heart Association’s Little Hats, Big Hearts program. The Little Hats, Big Hearts program started in February 2014 in Chicago and has now expanded to local projects in nearly every state. This is the fourth year for the program in central Pennsylvania. It grew from a few hundred hats distributed to Lancaster County hospitals in 2016 to thousands of hats distributed to hospitals and other organizations throughout the region last year. In addition to using red hats to raise awareness of heart disease and congenital heart defects, Little Hats, Big Hearts also aims to drive awareness for the American Heart Association’s Support Network, an online forum for families affected by heart disease and stroke. For more information, readers may visit www.heart.org/ littlehatsbighearts.
