The Be a Santa to a Senior program has returned this year with new options for community participation. Program coordinators evaluated the holiday program, an initiative of Home Instead, and made adjustments with the safety of donors, seniors and volunteers in mind. With some Lebanon County seniors finding themselves isolated because of concerns due to the coronavirus, this year, for the first time in the Be a Santa to a Senior program’s 17-year history, Home Instead is teaming up with Amazon Business to create a contactless gift-giving experience for volunteers and recipients. The new Amazon Business collaboration will provide holiday cheer to local seniors while also prioritizing the safety and wellness of all who are involved. Be a Santa to a Senior

relies on the support of the local community and volunteers, as well as area businesses, nonprofit organizations, and retailers. Members of the community can visit www.beasantatoa senior.com and enter their ZIP code to view wish lists for local seniors in the area. The lists will be available on Amazon Business through Monday, Nov. 30. A personalized greeting can be included with the gift. Since the program’s creation in 2003, Be a Santa to a Senior has provided approximately 2.1 million gifts to a total of more than 750,000 seniors nationwide. For more information about the program, readers may visit the aforementioned website or call 717832-2222. Ideas and inspiration focused on helping seniors in one’s community are available at www.readytocare.com.

Students from pg 1 The LDHS students accepted for the PULSE program are Ava Donohue, Brook Felker, Hannah Fischer, Katherine Foley, Benelli Risser, Brianna Risser, Drake Risser, Ryan Stoe, Kayla Troutman, and Caitlyn Umidi. College Plans Food Drive Central Penn College, Summerdale, will collect nonperishable food items and cash donations on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., as part of its KnightQuest: Combat Hunger initiative. The drive-through drop-off site will be located at the parking lot at the intersection of Valley Road and B Street in Summerdale. The campaign runs throughout the fall and will benefit 10 local food banks and the communities they

serve. The goal of the initiative is to collect at least 4,500 donated items and raise $4,500 in the fight against hunger and food insecurity. The event is open to the general public. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all donors are asked to wear a mask while dropping off donations. All volunteers will wear masks and gloves for safety.
