HCA Students Visit Museum Of The Bible econdary students from Hershey Christian Academy (HCA) spent an October day at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., where visitors are invited to experience and learn about the history and impact of the Bible through interactive and high-tech exhibits. At the recently built museum, located a few blocks from the National Mall, people can walk on dry land through the Red Sea, stroll along the streets of a first-century village and see rare artifacts from the Vatican and Israel. The group of seventh- through 10th-graders from HCA were accompanied by parents, as well as secondary teacher Sue Eckert. “I

During the six-minute experience, attendees are able to “fly” past places like the Lincoln Memorial, the Capitol and the Washington Monument. “The Washington Revelation experience was fun because the floor moved and wind blew on us as we went on a virtual flight,” said eighth-grader Jake Snyder. Eckert said the students that museum staff members presented the students with scavenger hunt booklets, which helped them to explore the three floors of displays. “HCA gives the Museum of the Bible five out of five stars for quality, inspiration, and educational

More information about the museum is available at www.museumofthebible.org. Hershey Christian Academy, 99 Valley Road, Hummelstown, offers instruction for students in kindergarten through 10th grade. One of the highlights of the field trip for the students was the Old Testament immersion experience, which features a 30-minute walkthrough display that includes theatrical presentations, art installations and dramatic lighting. Seventh-grader Shyanna Hoffer and ninth-grader Brianna Nelsen said the Old Testament exhibit was outstanding. “As we walked through the rooms, lights changed and images appeared,” said Shyanna. Each year the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC honors those whose leadership and community service best exemplify the organization’s goal of being a catalyst for making the Harrisburg region a better place to live, work, and play. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank’s executive director, Joe Arthur, is among the leaders and businesses to be honored with a Catalyst Award this year. Arthur is being recognized for his leadership of the food bank throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and for the sustained impact that his work has had in the community for the past decade. The pandemic prompted a major increase in the need for emergency food assistance, significantly disrupted the food supply chain, and posed health risks to staff, volunteers, and clients. The food bank had to rapidly deploy new tactics to respond to the demand and keep everyone socially distant and safe. Between March and October, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank distributed more than 44 million pounds of

food, a nearly 40% increase from the same time in 2019. Volunteers spent 19,000 hours packing more than 250,000 crisis response boxes full of healthy, shelf-stable food. Arthur’s leadership helped the food bank to provide healthy, nutritious meals to more than 200,000 individuals per month through its network of soup kitchens, food pantries, and shelters throughout 27 counties. Arthur said he believes that every person deserves access to quality, nutritious food. Under his guidance, the food bank has expanded its capacity to offer fresh, healthy food; capitalized on efforts to rescue good food from going to waste on farms; launched a MilitaryShare program to help veterans and military families; and increased its reach in Pennsylvania’s northern tier. The Chamber & CREDC will host the Catalyst Awards virtual ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 3:30 p.m. For more information about the event, readers may visit w w w. h a r r i s b u r g r e g i o n a l chamber.org.

Former Knee Pain Sufferer Shares: “I was looking at surgery…But now there’s no need.”

New Knee Pain Workshop Helps Local People Get Back to Normal Naturally, Without Unnecessary Pain Pills, Injections, or Surgeries. • Are you careful how you move because you’re afraid your knee might “give out”? • Do you find yourself taking Tylenol, Aleve or Advil just to get through the day? • Are you missing out on family time because of knee pain? • Have you changed the way you do everyday activities - like going up and down stairs or getting in and out of a car? • Do you try to just “keep going” but you feel limited in what you can do? • Do you feel worn out and held back because of your knee? If you answered “YES” to any of the above questions, the Knee Pain Workshop may be a life changing event for you… Hello, Knee pain can completely destroy your life…we’ve seen it many times. It can make you avoid the things you once loved doing such as taking walks with the dog, spending time outdoors with the family, or even doing simple household chores. I’ve seen many folks afraid to do everyday things like going up and down the stairs or getting out of the car because they don’t know if their knee is going to “give out” and make them fall. Knee pain can: • Make you feel like you’re not your normal self… • It can zap and take away your energy… • It can make you feel depressed as you see other people doing the things you wish you could be doing… It can be a downward spiral. Not good. Here at Madden Physical Therapy we’ve helped literally hundreds of knee pain sufferers cancel their surgery, get off of pain meds and anti-inflammatories…and get back to feeling like their normal self again. Naturally. That’s why we’re hosting a Knee Pain Workshop on Wednesday, December 16th at 7pm right here at Madden Physical Therapy in Lower Paxton. If you’ve been told you have arthritis, or bone-on-bone on your X-ray and you absolutely need surgery…here’s some of what you’ll learn: 1. The Top 3 Causes of Knee Pain that can lead to a Knee Replacement and a long recovery. (One of them you won’t believe…) 2. The #1 Single Biggest Mistake that Knee Pain sufferers make that can lead directly to surgery. 3. A sure-fire way to get your life back and pick the right treatment for the cause of your pain (and save you time and money). 4. What successful treatment and permanent relief look like without the side effects of unnecessary medications, injections or surgery. “Had trouble walking through the woods while shooting archery. I am now able to walk without tripping on branches and up and down stairs. I had a problem lifting my right leg and getting up from the floor while sitting. Now I can get up with no problem!” - Rich A. So, if you want to get your life back and handle the cause of your knee pain, here’s how to register to learn more. Call Heather at 717-210-9945 today. Tell her you would like to “Save your seat for the Knee Pain Workshop.” To make sure all attendees questions are answered, space is limited to 20 seats… and seats fill up FAST. The first 10 registrants will receive a FREE copy of the Top 3 Exercises for Knee Pain when they come to the workshop. I’m looking forward to seeing you there and helping you become your “normal self” again. Chad Madden Physical Therapist R066084

Happy holidays, everyone! Oooooooh, I LOVE this time of the year! All my childhood memories of Christmas just lift me so high ... the blue lights that outlined Grandma and Grandpa’s house, the smell of Nan’s cookies baking, the way the snow glistened in the moonlight, the way we decorated the whole house, the special items we only got out this time of the year, all the presents under the tree. I remember the car rides we used to take to look at the Christmas lights on all the houses ... my grandma would say, “Look at that one, kids,” and we kids would always ooh and aah at every house we saw. That was so much fun. I miss those days, but now I am trying to make memories for all the kids in my family. **Looking for an Angel** One of my sweet readers, Kim of Middletown, was in a bad car accident at Frey and Vine streets on Wednesday, Nov. 4, early in the morning. Kim tells me a very nice woman helped get her out of her car and stayed with her until the ambulance came. Kim would really like to thank this person but wasn’t able to at the time. All that she remembers is that she had maybe shoulderlength dark hair. If you are Kim’s angel, please call me (717-6232767) and I will give you Kim’s phone number. She would really like to thank you! And thank you from all of us for being such a caring, wonderful person! I Corinthians 13, Christmas Version If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show love to my family, I’m just another decorator. If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime, but do not show love to my family, I’m just another cook. If I work at the soup kitchen, carol in the nursing home, and give all that I have to charity, but do not show love to my family, it profits me nothing. If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes, attend myriad holiday parties and sing in the choir’s cantata, but do not focus on Christ, I have missed the point. Love stops the cooking to hug the child.

Love sets aside the decorating to kiss the husband. Love is kind, though harried and tired. Love doesn’t envy another’s home that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens. Love doesn’t yell at the kids to get out of the way, but is thankful they are there to be in the way. Love doesn’t give only to those who are able to give in return but rejoices in giving to those who can’t. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But giving the gift of love will endure. BFB This week’s Big Fat Belated birthday wish goes out to Lydia O’Hazzo of Hershey! This sweet young woman turned 90 on Nov. 27. The drive-in style meeting will be held in the parking lot at the Lebanon Valley Exposition Center and Fairgrounds, 2120 Cornwall Road, Lebanon, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec.16. This event is a way to provide a safe environment for those growers who need pesticide recertification credits and may live in rural areas with limited internet access or for those who are not comfortable with online learning. Registrants will be able to park their vehicles and listen to the presenters on their FM receiver/radio as the presentation is projected on the dairy barn wall. Two core and two category

(PC, 01, 18) credits will be given to those in attendance. Upon conclusion of the event, each participant’s Pennsylvania pesticide license will be scanned to ensure credits are received. Topics will include a discussion led by Dwight Lingenfelter, extension weed specialist, on “What’s New in 2020 Herbicides as well as specific herbicide programs designed for palmer control in corn and soybean. Additionally, a pesticide safety update and proper pesticide mixing order will be covered. There is a nominal registration fee. The registration deadline is Wednesday, Dec. 9. For more information and to register, readers may visit https://extension.psu.edu/ agronomic-pesticide-update or call 877-345-0691.
