Merry Christmas, everyone! It’ll be here before we know it! I am so excited! I never lost my awe for Christmas; it still makes me feel like a little kid. I think a lot of that awe is due to my growing up in the Riverside Chapel. Christmas was extra special at Riverside Chapel when I was a kid. I remember every Christmas service we kids would get a big fat orange and a box of chocolates. We also used to make clear toy lollipops back in the kitchen; do any of you remember them? They were so good! I also remember gathering in a large circle, everyone holding hands, and then singing “Silent Night.” And, of course, we always were told the true Christmas story, and it still always makes me feel full of love, peace, and hope. Who Started This Thing Called Christmas? A woman was Christmas shopping with her two children. After many hours of walking down row after row of toys and after hours of hearing both her children asking for everything they saw on those many shelves, the woman finally made it to the store elevator with her two children in hand. She was feeling what so many of us feel during the holiday season time of the year - overwhelming pressure to find that perfect gift for every person on our shopping list; to go to every party and taste all the holiday food and treats; to make sure we don’t forget anyone on our card list; and to respond to everyone who sent us a card. Finally the elevator doors opened revealing a crowd in the car. She pushed her way in and dragged her two kids and all her bags of stuff in with her. As the doors closed she couldn’t take it anymore and blurted out, “Whoever started this whole Christmas thing should be found, strung up, and shot.” From the back of the car, a quiet calm voice responded, “Don’t worry, we’ve already crucified Him.” The rest of the trip down was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. Don’t forget this year to keep the One who started this

Former Knee Pain Sufferer Shares: “I was looking at surgery…But now there’s no need.”
New Knee Pain Workshop Helps Local People Get Back to Normal Naturally, Without Unnecessary Pain Pills, Injections, or Surgeries. • Are you careful how you move because you’re afraid your knee might “give out”? • Do you find yourself taking Tylenol, Aleve or Advil just to get through the day? • Are you missing out on family time because of knee pain? • Have you changed the way you do everyday activities - like going up and down stairs or getting in and out of a car? • Do you try to just “keep going” but you feel limited in what you can do? • Do you feel worn out and held back because of your knee? If you answered “YES” to any of the above questions, the Knee Pain Workshop may be a life changing event for you… Hello, Knee pain can completely destroy your life…we’ve seen it many times. It can make you avoid the things you once loved doing such as taking walks with the dog, spending time outdoors with the family, or even doing simple household chores. I’ve seen many folks afraid to do everyday things like going up and down the stairs or getting out of the car because they don’t know if their knee is going to “give out” and make them fall. Knee pain can: • Make you feel like you’re not your normal self… • It can zap and take away your energy… • It can make you feel depressed as you see other people doing the things you wish you could be doing… It can be a downward spiral. Not good. Here at Madden Physical Therapy we’ve helped literally hundreds of knee pain sufferers cancel their surgery, get off of pain meds and anti-inflammatories…and get back to feeling like their normal self again. Naturally. That’s why we’re hosting a Knee Pain Workshop on Wednesday, January 6th at 7pm right here at Madden Physical Therapy in Lower Paxton. If you’ve been told you have arthritis, or bone-on-bone on your X-ray and you absolutely need surgery…here’s some of what you’ll learn: 1. The Top 3 Causes of Knee Pain that can lead to a Knee Replacement and a long recovery. (One of them you won’t believe…) 2. The #1 Single Biggest Mistake that Knee Pain sufferers make that can lead directly to surgery. 3. A sure-fire way to get your life back and pick the right treatment for the cause of your pain (and save you time and money). 4. What successful treatment and permanent relief look like without the side effects of unnecessary medications, injections or surgery. “Had trouble walking through the woods while shooting archery. I am now able to walk without tripping on branches and up and down stairs. I had a problem lifting my right leg and getting up from the floor while sitting. Now I can get up with no problem!” - Rich A. So, if you want to get your life back and handle the cause of your knee pain, here’s how to register to learn more. Call 717-210-9945 today. Say you would like to “Save your seat for the Knee Pain Workshop.” To make sure all attendees questions are answered, space is limited to 20 seats… and seats fill up FAST. The first 10 registrants will receive a FREE copy of the Top 3 Exercises for Knee Pain when they come to the workshop. I’m looking forward to seeing you there and helping you become your “normal self” again. Chad Madden Physical Therapist R066640

Some of the key factors for the evaluation of qualifying franchises fall into what Entrepreneur Magazine calls the Five Pillars of the Franchise 500. The pillars include costs and fees, support, size and growth, brand strength and financial strength and stability. In addition, a franchisor must be seeking new franchisees in the U.S. or Canada and must have had a minimum of 10 units open and operating as of July 31, 2019, with at least one in North America. Franchisors who successfully meet these requirements and provide the necessary financial and operating information receive a score based on more than 150 data points.

“Holiday Card” Performances Set
Top 500 List
The Hershey Area Playhouse will present a virtual “Holiday Card” featuring members of the community. The online performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 25, through Sunday, Dec. 27. Local author Phil Jurus will share two of his original elf stories. The stories are “Santa’s Clauset” and “A Dickens of a Good Time.” Since 1996, Jurus has been writing “Stories of the Christmas Elves.” In addition, Jake Nyguen will perform holiday classics on the guitar. The event will also include Kurt Dise reading “The Night Before Christmas.” Families can access this holiday content with a set donation to benefit the Hershey Area Playhouse. To purchase tickets, readers may visit www.hersheyarea playhouse.com.

Dairy Holds Virtual Tour For Students Students had the opportunity to visit a dairy farm without leaving their home or school when American Dairy Association North East teamed up with farms in Pennsylvania and New York to offer free virtual farm tours. Locally, Talview Dairy in Lebanon held a live virtual tour for students in prekindergarten through third grade on Nov. 18. The tour was approximately 30 to 45 minutes in length. Through the use of video technology, children were able to learn directly from dairy farmers where their food comes
from and how it is produced. During the tour, Talview Dairy hosted more than 22,000 students in more than 1,600 classrooms that were not only located in central Pennsylvania, but in places as far away as California, Florida and Alberta, Canada. American Dairy Association North East began working with local dairy farmers to bring their farms to the classroom in 2018. To view a recording of the most recent tours, readers may visit www.american dairy.com/tour.

Local Youth To Compete On Food Network Show When viewers tune in to this season’s “Kids Baking Championship” on Food Network, they will be able to root for a local youth who is taking part in the competition. Beginning on Monday, Dec. 28, at 9 p.m., viewers will be able to watch Jonah Anderson, 12, of Harrisburg compete with 11 other young bakers on the show, which will be hosted by Valerie Bertinelli and Duff Goldman. The winner of the competition will receive $25,000, a spot in Food Network Magazine and the title of Kids Baking Champion. Jonah, a homeschooled seventh-grader, applied for the show in December 2019 and traveled with his mother to California to record the episodes. “Last December I was watching one of the challenges and they were making volcano Bundt cakes and I said, ‘Mom, I can do just as good as some of those kids’, and she said I should apply, and now, here I am,” said
Jonah. “We had to fill out an application form and submit pictures and videos. It was a crazy long process.” Jonah, who admits to being a fan of Food Network shows like “Chopped” and “Buddy Vs. Duff,” said his love of baking began only recently. “A couple years back, I was into art and it started to get a little boring and then I found baking,” he stated. “I love doing things with my hands, and it was kind of like the perfect thing I needed right then.” Jonah said he loves baking all kinds of treats, from cookies and cakes to pies. “I really love to try ethnic foods like French pastries and experiment with flavors,” he shared. While he is not able to reveal how he did on the show, Jonah did mention that it was challenging to cook while on camera. “I was super nervous. I could always tell the cameras were there,” he said, adding that he kept his appearance on the show a secret from friends and family members until recently. This year’s 10-episode
season will feature new challenges for the competitors. One challenge, celebrating Animal Planet’s “Puppy Bowl,” asks each baker to pair up with an adoptable puppy and to create a birthday cake that envisions the pet’s life after adoption. In another challenge, the competitors must make a giant cookie face with Jonah Anderson, 12, of Harrisburg 3-D features that will compete in this season’s “Kids communicate an Baking Championship” on Food assigned expres- Network. sion. Each week Whatever happens on the one baker will be eliminated. On Monday, Feb. 15, show, Jonah plans a career in 2021, at 9 p.m., as part of baking. “I really want to go the two-episode finale, the to pastry school when I get bakers will be asked to create older and own my own baka sheet pan pie with two pie ery,” he shared. “That is my fillings, a crust and decora- dream.” For more information tions. Three bakers will earn spots in the grand finale at about the upcoming show, readers may visit www.Food 10 p.m. “I really want people to Network.com/KidsBaking Championship. watch,” Jonah said.
