Resolve To Make A Difference Local Organizations Seek Volunteers, Donations By Francine Fulton

With the arrival of the new year, many people make resolutions to make positive changes in their lives. Representatives of local nonprofit organizations hope that people will resolve to volunteer in 2019, donating their time and talents. People are invited to donate tangible items as well. The Chester County Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC) is currently seeking volunteers willing to help individuals from other countries with their English language skills through its adult tutoring program. No experience is necessary, but volunteers must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Tutors are asked to meet with a student for a minimum of three hours a week for at least one year.

For more information about becoming a volunteer tutor, readers may contact Debbie Rikess, adult tutoring program coordinator, at drikess@cc-oic.org or 610-280-2618. More information about the OIC is available at www.ccoic.org or www.facebook.com/ChescoOIC. The Community Warehouse Project (CWP) of Chester County, a nonprofit organization that collects and redistributes donated furniture and household goods to people in need, is seeking volunteers to help sort through donations at its Downingtown warehouse. The organization is also in need of donations of quality used furniture. Those who have furniture to donate to CWP are asked to contact the agency in advance by visiting www.communitywarehouseproject.com. Especially needed are single beds with bed frames. For more information, readers may call 484-473-4360, visit the website or search for “Community Warehouse See Volunteer Opportunities pg 6

Nuts ’n’ Bolts Of Consignment To Return

OCTORARA EDITION

By Marcella Peyre-Ferry

Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church has slated the fourth annual Nuts ’n’ Bolts Of Consignment. This fundraising consignment sale, set for Saturday, Jan. 12, i was originally targeted at male sellers and shoppers. “I thought, ‘We have all these yard sales and stuff women come to, wouldn’t it be interesting to have a sale that would attract men?’” event organizer Boni Henry recalled. “People look for it now and are hoping to come back.” Tools, sporting goods, gardening items, construction

materials, fishing and hunting gear, and crafts will be of interest to all shoppers. Those items and much more will be available at the Nuts ’n’ Bolts Of Consignment event. The sale has ex panded so that it includes an even wider variety of items such as antiques, furniture, landscaping, vintage jewelry and more. Some of the items that have appeared at previous sales included cornhole games, fishing rods, duck decoys, and Amish-made items. As with any sale of this type, no one can predict what specific treasures might be found at the upcoming event.

“ We get a lot of different things,” Henry said. “It seems like it’s kind of morphed where some women come and bring things they want to sell too.” Te event will run from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church social hall, with free coffee and snacks for shoppers. This year there will be a special “Mystery Tool or Antique.” Those who attend will have the opportunity to guess what it is. Correct entries will be given a prize. Consigners, who will retain 80 percent of the sale price, are still being sought. Anyone with items to sell should contact Henry to ensure a space will be available.

During the open house, there will be various stations covering different goals, called priorities. “There will be an opportunity to give feedback, and there will be an activity at each station,” noted Mark Gillen, senior community planner with the Chester County Planning Commission. One of the priorities will be connectivity. “We will have a map and a magic marker and ask people to show us where they would like to see additional sidewalks and trail connections,” Gillen explained. “At the economic development (station), we will ask people what types of businesses they would like to see in the borough.” Gillen noted that another station will cover community

She may be reached at 717-8084534 or bohphen@outlook.com. Readers may also call the church office at 717-786-3402. Items should be tagged with prices and delivered to the church in the evening on Friday, Jan. 11. Sellers do not have to attend the sale. Unsold items must be picked up in the afternoon following the sale on Jan. 12. Proceeds from this event will go to the church’s mission team, with a goal of $500 in mind for this event. Henry described the church as mission-minded with projects and support assisting areas in this country and around the world. “ We’ve been going to Peru every year for a long time. We have other mission projects too,” she said. In Peru, the church efforts have centered on the village of Tamshiyacu. “Our main project for many years was to try to get some clean water going,” Henry said. “Now we concentrate more on medical issues. They have issues with malaria, parasites and tuberculosis - we take them medical supplies. Every year when we go, we have some sort of project we work on.” Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church is located at 1199 Valley Road, Quarryville. The Nuts ’n’ Bolts Of Consignment event will be held indoors, but in the case of dangerous weather, there is a snow date of Saturday, Jan. 26. amenities and resources. “That would be parks and recreation areas and where a resident may want to see a new park or recreational facilities like a dog park or a basketball court - whatever they can creatively come up with,” he stated. He noted that residents of Parkesburg and surrounding communities as well as those who own businesses in the area are encouraged to attend. “We will not turn anyone away, but we will have a pin map when they come in to show us where they live in the borough or where their business is,” said Gillen. “We want to hear from people who work, live or play in the borough.” The event will be casual with no scheduled guest speakers. “We thought about doing a presentation, but we don’t want people to just sit and listen. We just want to get feedback,” Gillen added. “We are not there to talk; we are there to listen.” According to borough representatives, the goal of a comprehensive plan is to identify existing conditions, define a vision for Parkesburg Borough’s future and provide a series of actions to achieve that vision over the next 10 years.

Chester County’s comprehensive policy plan, Landscapes3, which was adopted in 2018, designates the entire Borough of Parkesburg as an Urban Center. According to the Landscapes3 document, Urban Center landscapes include “historic downtowns and established neighborhoods that serve as civic, economic and population centers with a traditional town character. Urban Centers will accommodate substantial future growth at a medium to high intensity with a mix of uses, including commercial, institutional and cultural destinations. Transportation infrastructure and amenities support a walkable community that is integrated into the public transportation and roadway systems.” Development of Parkesburg’s comprehensive plan is being led by a 10-member task force consisting of representatives of the borough council, the planning commission, local business owners and borough residents. For more information on the comprehensive plan, readers may visit www.parkesburg.org. In the case of inclement weather on the day of the open house, cancellation information will be posted on the website.

Solo Flight from pg 1 Duran Slocum has completed his first solo flight as part of his first year in Eastern Mennonite University’s new leadership and organizational management bachelor’s degree program with a concentration in aviation. Since 1917, Eastern Mennonite University (EMU), a faith-based liberal arts university, has emphasized peacebuilding, sustainability, service to others, and social justice to students of diverse religious and cultural backgrounds. EMU educates undergraduate, graduate, professional, and seminary students to serve and lead in a global context from the main campus in Harrisonburg, Va.; the site in Lancaster; and online. The EMU experience aims to challenge students to pursue their life calling through scholarly inquiry, artistic creation, guided practice, and life-changing cross-cultural encounter. Slocum attends the EMU at Lancaster campus, 1846 Charter Lane, Lancaster. He has been interested in aviation since he was about 7 years old. “My grandfather was a pilot in the military and told me many fascinating stories,” Slocum recalled. “I decided this was in my future a couple of years ago after I got out of the military and wanted to try something new.” Slocum’s grandfather is the motivating force behind his career goals. “I would like to be a test pilot in the long term, as my grandpa had a crash during Pearl Harbor which was the aircraft’s fault,” he said. “In the meantime, I will work diligently to get all the necessary certificates to open up my own skydiving school, as that is what I did in the military.” After training with flight instructor Jon Glick, Slocum made his first solo flight on Oct. 19. The flight had been postponed three times, so Slocum was more than ready to fly. He described the flight as exhilarating. “It was a wild experience to be controlling the aircraft all on my own,” he added. After successfully landing the plane, Slocum was lauded by having the back of his shirt cut off, signed, and dated. Historically, before instructors and their students began using radios to communicate in noisy cockpits, an instructor seated behind a student needed to tug on the back of the student’s shirt to get his or her attention. The removal of a new pilot’s shirttail following a first solo flight shows that he or she no longer needs an instructor escort. For more information about EMU at Lancaster and the aviation program, readers may visit https://emu.edu/lancaster/ or call 717-397-5190.

Slocum, a student in the aviation program at EMU at Lancaster, made his first solo flight on Oct. 19. Students in the four-year aviation program begin flight school in their first semester and will eventually earn a bachelor’s degree in leadership and organizational management as well as several flight certifications.

It began with a conversation about foster care, and it blossomed into a church bake sale that raised more than $1,000 to help provide presents for Christ’s Home in Paradise. Zephaniah Doutrich, age 8, son of Eric and Nykiah Doutrich of Bowmansville, spearheaded the effort. On Nov. 4, Zephaniah and his family brought a large number of baked goods with them to church at Bethany Grace Fellowship, 400 Reading Road, East Earl, ready to sell them to attendees by donation to raise funds for Christ’s Home for Christmas presents. The sale raised $1,033, which was combined with receipts from another fundraiser for a total of $1,056. Zephaniah’s first efforts to raise funds for children in foster care began in mid-summer after his parents told him and his siblings that they were interested in fostering children. “When we got into the foster care journey, our children wanted to know where (foster children) come from,” explained Nykiah. “We sat down briefly and told them some children come from homes where

parents don’t have the resources to take care of them, and that’s what sparked him.” Zephaniah’s concern for children in foster care quickly moved him to action. “One Saturday, he was out with his little sister, and he set up a table for a yard sale (because) he wanted to sell his toys,” said Nykiah. “He came in, and he said that he prayed for God to send people to buy his toys, but no one came.” Nykiah turned the occurrence into a teaching moment by explaining how to advertise a yard sale, but she was curious. “I said, ‘Oh, sweetie, why are you selling your toys?’” Zephaniah responded, “I want to buy toys for other children.” From there, the family decided to search for area organizations that support children in need. Nykiah explained that it was important to Zephaniah to make contact with the home. “He wanted to physically buy the toys and go in there and drop them off,” she said “Christ’s Home in Paradise was one of the few homes that would allow us to do that.” In late August, the family held a special Honk for Foster Care at their home. “People honked and received fresh lemonade by

donation,” said Nykiah. The event raised $23 and spurred Zephaniah forward toward organizing the bake sale. In the fall, Zephaniah approached Bethany Grace pastor Adam Nagle. “I told him I wanted to do a bake sale,” said Zephaniah. Nagle responded positively to the idea. “I love encouraging (children) to dream of the difference they can make,” said Nagle. “I’ll serve and stand with any (child) whose heart is captured by a cause and (who has) a plan to do something about it. I was thrilled to help him make this happen.” Nagle explained that Nov. 4 was chosen to hold the bake sale because it was National Orphan Sunday, which aims to draw attention to foster care and adoption concerns. On that day, Zephaniah joined Nagle at the front of the church to announce the fundraiser. The Doutrich family came to the church that day with loads of baked goods for attendees to purchase by donation. “My mom helped me bake some cookies, pumpkin bread, brownies, and gluten-free cookies,” said Zephaniah. Nykiah reported that the family prepared 30

loaves of pumpkin bread, three batches of brownies, and about 250 cookies, including monster cookies. Zephaniah explained that monster cookies have colored chocolate candies in them. All the items the family planned to sell had sold out by the end of the second service. A representative of Christ’s Home provided the family with a list of needs for the children and the cottages. “They have nine children there ages 6 to 20,” said Nykiah, who added that the toys were purchased and taken to Christ’s Home by Dec. 10. “We thought (that this effort) was something small and that we were just being obedient to the Lord, but it just really took off,” said Nykiah of the response to the fundraiser and opportunity to purchase the gifts. “We are super happy about it.” Pictured on front: Zephaniah Doutrich, age 8, son of Eric and Nykiah Doutrich of Bowmansville, recently organized a bake sale that raised more than $1,000. Zephaniah used the funds to purchase toys and other gifts for children at Christ’s Home in Paradise.

As part of an annual holiday tradition, members of the Ringing Hills Chorus helped the community celebrate the season by offering performances in December. The group, composed of 22 members, performed a cappella Christmas carols and holiday music at Keystone Villa in Douglassville, for the Scattered Seeds Garden Club at the Applebrook Golf Club in Malvern and on the Polar Express Colebrookdale Holiday Train tour in Boyertown. “It was a busy December,” said Rosemary Spiro, who has been a chorus member for more than 20 years. Performing for the public is

just one activity of the chorus, which also takes part in regional competitions. New singers are always welcome, and prospective members may attend an upcoming rehearsal. Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 6:45 to 9:30 p.m. at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, 1188 Benjamin Franklin Highway, Douglassville. “We invite people to come as a guest and just get up on the risers and sing with us,” said Spiro. “ We provide sheet music. If they think it’s fun and they want to become a member, then they have to audition.” Once accepted into the chorus, members pay yearly dues to participate. Spiro ex plained that the singers are placed together by

voice style to achieve the unique barbershop harmony sound. “With a cappella music, (you not only have to) sing your own part, you have to hold it against three other parts. It does take a lot of practice,” she said. “We sing fourpart a cappella. The lead is the melody line. The bass is lower and considered a second melody. The high part is the tenor and the fourth part is baritone, which actually makes the barbershop sound.” The Ringing Hills Chorus is a member of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide organization of women who sing barbershop harmony and promote the musical style through education, competition and performance. Ringing Hills Chorus from pg 4 “There are some other a cappella groups that are related to churches, but we belong to the international organization and we go to competitions,” explained Spiro. “(Sweet Adelines International) has choruses in places like Sweden and England.” In May, the Ringing Hills Chorus, under the direction of Linda Beaver, won the Most Improved Chorus Award during a regional competition held in Hershey that included choruses from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. Spiro said that group members have performed at churches, hospitals, retirement homes and more. They also sang the national anthem at the Reading Fighthin’ Phils and

Philadelphia Phillies baseball games. “ We are not professional; these are everyday people who like to sing,” Spiro said, noting that members are of various age groups. “The majority are older women, but we have women in their 20s and 30s as well.” Group members are from Berks, Montgomery and Chester counties. “It’s a very widespread geographical area that people come from,” Spiro said. “About 40 percent of the chorus comes from Pottstown, Phoenixville and Douglassville. The rest come from all over the place, like Leesport, West Chester and Kimberton.” Spiro added that the barbershop style is unique because it is entirely vocal music. Only a

For the majority of working professionals, finding quality time to spend with loved ones can be a delicate balancing act. But working parents do not have to wait until retirement to enjoy being in the company of their families. With some fine tuning, anyone can find ways to spend more time with their children, spouse, extended families and friends. Families may consider eating dinner together every night. Dining together enables everyone to be a part of each other’s day and discuss important issues facing the family. Family members should avoid activities that cut into dinner time. Family members may also consider changing their work hours. For example, some people may be able to leave work at 4 p.m. to make it home for family time and then finish the day’s work remotely afterward. To ensure they have time together, family members

should put it on the calendar. Family time may fall by the wayside unless it is scheduled. Family time should be treated as an important event so it becomes a priority. Families can also enjoy entertainment together. Instead of retiring to separate corners of the house with tablets or mobile phones in tow, members can find a television series everyone can enjoy together. Participants can gather to see how stories unfold and then discuss the episodes. Family time need not be limited to recreation or leisure. People may get their entire family involved in a chore or project so members can work together toward a common goal. Landscaping, painting a room in the house or even grocery shopping are some examples of chores that can be turned into family time. Family time takes work, but making it a priority can offer important benefits.

Financial Planning Tips Posted A clear understanding of personal expenditures and savings rates is essential for securing a strong financial future. People may establish this understanding through the creation of a financial plan, which, according to the Financial Planning Association, identifies goals and objectives that take finances to achieve and creates a plan for making those things happen. Financial advisers may assist in the creation of these plans. When creating financial plans, people should use the following steps. 1 . Identify goals. People should consider what they want to achieve, such as buying a home, retiring early, providing for a child’s education, or having more time and money for travel. Putting goals on paper may inspire people to pursue them more vigorously. 2. Conduct a financial audit. People should make a list of all their assets and then subtract existing debts to figure out their net worth. While tabulating, they should find out how much

money they bring in and spend each month so they can get a clear picture of their spending habits. The audit may help people make smart choices in regard to spending and saving. 3. Eradicate existing debt. One of the key parts of a financial plan is to pay down high-interest debt to free up money for the future. Focus on paying off credit card balances, high-interest loans, or balances for other accounts where interest is high. People who are having trouble paying down highinterest debt may consider a debt consolidation loan. 4. Start saving. Building savings is essential to reaching many goals. It also is key to avoiding financial ruin during emergency situations, such as home or car repairs or a disability that causes time off work. People should start small by having a certain percentage of money deposited into a separate account automatically. Investing in the right products also can help people grow their savings.

worked with Dinniman to develop the program and assists the PVF in running the program. Henry’s Helping Paws Program currently delivers pet food to several dozen senior citizens who are homebound or lack transportation. The program is administered by the PVF with the help of donations from PetSmart Charities. Last year, the program began deliveries of pet food and care items to the Phoenixville Senior Center to meet the need of local seniors in feeding and caring for their dogs and cats. Pet health care events are scheduled to take place in the 2019 in both Coatesville and Phoenixville. This year, Dinniman and PVF announced they are not only expanding Henry’s Helping Paws to serve additional senior centers in Chester County, but they are also expanding its scope to include health care vouchers that can be used at designated veterinary hospitals and mobile veterinary practices. Seniors in need, identified by the senior centers and/or Meals on Wheels, will be eligible to receive a voucher, valued at $250, to cover costs for their pet’s health care at Pennsylvania Veterinary Association designated hospitals. Henry’s Helping Paws Program, the initiative founded by state Sen. Andy Dinniman and his wife, Margo, to keep people and their pets together, is now delivering free dog and cat food, along with vital veterinary medical services, to more local senior citizens in need and their pets. Recently, Dinniman was joined by his rescue poodle, Jagger, and representatives from the Pennsylvania Veterinary Foundation (PVF) to make the first delivery of dog and cat food to the Coatesville Area Senior Center. Named for Henry, the Dinniman family’s standard poodle that died in December 2014, Henry’s Helping Paws Fund was launched in conjunction with Meals on Wheels of Chester County in 2016. Dinniman said he came up with the idea for a mobile food pantry when he heard about senior citizens and disabled residents on low or fixed incomes who are homebound and struggle to afford adequate food, pet care items, and veterinary medical services for their pets. According to Dinniman, besides keeping people and their pets together in their homes, the program also aims to take the burden off rescue organizations that are overwhelmed with surrendered animals. The Chester County Controller’s Office recently received notification of an award bestowed upon it by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). A Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting was presented to County Controller Margaret Reif and her staff for the 2017 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). A copy of the CAFR can be found at www.chesco.org/controller. The GFOA Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and finance reporting, and its attainment “represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” notes the GFOA. The award for the 2017 CAFR marks the 37th

Successful financial plans often begin with the creation of a budget. A budget is an estimate of income and expenses in a given period of time. Budgets help with long-term goals like paying off a mortgage or sending a child to college as well as shortterm goals like financing a dream vacation. Not all budgets are alike, and when people hear the word budget, they may get apprehensive. Budgeting may require making some concessions in regard to spending habits, but it does not have to put a complete damper on plans. In fact, with a budget in hand, people may be more free to spend, because they will have a stronger grasp of their financial situation. To make a budget, people should start by listing their necessities. They should calculate the costs associated with fixed needs, including rent/mortgage, utilities, food, and any other bills that have to be paid each month. Existing debt should then be added. Debt includes any routine payments being made in connection with credit cards, student loans, car payments, or unpaid medical bills. A spending analysis should be conducted over several months.

Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus, West Chester University Alumni Association, and West Chester Downtown Foundation. The award will be bestowed at the Exton Region Chamber of Commerce (ERCC) Annual Review Luncheon on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at the Downingtown Country Club from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. During the luncheon, Laurie Kerkering, president of the ERCC, will present the accomplishments of the Chamber in 2018 and

what is in store for 2019. ERCC’s mission is to advance the economic success of its members and the community by providing opportunities for businesses to build relationships, market their business, share industry knowledge and provide community outreach. For more than 40 years, the ERCC has been focused on meeting the diverse needs of its members and providing a wide array of events and programs to enhance the business climate and quality of life in Exton.

Budgets are easier with fixed numbers, but unforeseen variables can affect spending every month. These can include clothing, entertainment, and more. The cost of these expenses should be averaged throughout the analysis period so one can get some idea of how much to allocate for them. Software or apps can be used to help. There are plenty of resources available to help people calculate their budgets and get a picture of their financial habits. Resources such as Mint, You Need a Budget (YNAB), and various accounting programs can produce spreadsheets, pie charts, and bar graphs as a budget is created. People are encouraged to start trimming gradually. Quitting a certain lifestyle cold turkey can be jarring. People should gradually cut back on spending if the analysis suggests that is the way to go. Saving should be automated. Immediately removing a set amount from paychecks by having it directly deposited into a separate account can remove the temptation of spending too much. Budgets are a key part of a financial plan and can help people reach their goals.

Girl Scout To Host Dance Parties For Youths With Special Needs Youths with special needs are invited to enjoy dance parties that will be held at Grove United Methodist Church, 490 W. Boot Road, West Chester. Dances will be held several times each month beginning on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, from 10 to 11 a.m. The dance parties, themed “Everybody In,” are being presented by Lizzy Stahelek, who is organizing the event as part of a service project in conjunction with pursuing the Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest award in Cadette Girl Scouting. Lizzy, 13, is a seventh-grade student at Peirce Middle School and a member of Girl Scout Troop 4297, which meets at the school. “It will be a relaxed event that all people with special needs can attend and enjoy. Kids with special needs can dance their own way and enjoy the music in their own way,” Lizzy said. “The kids will not have to follow dance steps; it

will be a dance party.” Lizzy’s 9-year-old sister, Ally, who has special needs, was the inspiration for the project. “My sister likes a lot of music,” Lizzy said, noting that the family had previously attended a dance class for special needs students. “It was mainly (learning) a routine, and some of the steps were harder to follow. (For these dances), we wanted people to just have a party.” The girls’ mother, Margaret Stahelek, explained, “There wasn’t a place for someone like our daughter, so Lizzy wanted to create something where everyone can participate. I think it will be really fun.” Lizzy began planning for the dance parties this past summer, which included scouting for a handicapped-accessible location. After the opening event on Jan. 5, upcoming dances will be held on Jan. 19; Feb. 2 and 16; March 2, 16 and 30; and April 6 and 20, 2019. It is not necessary to register for the events, and participants can attend as many

dance parties as they choose. All attendees must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian who must stay with them during the hourlong session. Siblings are welcome. No snacks will be provided, so dancers are encouraged to bring bottled water or other beverages. Lizzy has prepared a playlist with dances such as the hokey pokey. “We have to tailor it to who is there, and we have multiple playlists,” said Lizzy, noting that there will also be some surprises. “Once (the dance parties) start, we will make changes as necessary,” Margaret added. “We want the kids to feel part of a group and have them go to an event that they enjoy.” Lizzy noted that the dance parties are modeled after High 5 Soccer, which Ally participates in. High 5 is a program offered each spring and fall by the Glenmoore Eagle Youth Association (GEYA). The program, run by coaches Jenn and Matt Wagner, offers children with special needs one hour of soccer each weekend, during which players pair up with a teenager or adult buddy for activities and games that are adapted to their abilities. “The dance will not have assigned buddies like

High 5, but there will be volunteers dancing with them,” said Lizzy. During High 5 Soccer while the children are on the field, parents frequently network and talk about their children’s needs and discuss programs that are offered in the area. At the dance parties, the goal is to foster a similar support system. “If parents do want to dance, they can, but they don’t necessarily have to, and hopefully they will talk to the other parents like they do at High 5,” Margaret said. Upon completion of the project, Lizzy will present a report about the dance parties to the Girl Scout Lizzy Stahelek (right), Girl Scouts of Eastern shown with her sister, Ally, will presPennsylvania for final ent a series of dance parties for special approval before receiv- needs students at Grove United ing the Silver Award. Affordably priced housing for professionals, those in the trades, firsttime home buyers, seniors, and those looking to locate in Chester County is needed today and in the coming years, according to housing professionals at the Citizen Planners’ Breakfast held recently. The two-hour Citizen Planners’ Breakfast was sponsored by Chester County 2020 and the Chester County Planning Commission. Brian O’Leary, executive director of the Chester County Planning Commission, began the event by saying that an estimated 55,000 new homes will be needed by 2035 for the county’s growing population and that the county must balance the need for growth with the need to preserve open space. Lisa Moore, manager of Kennett Township, told the audience that her municipality is looking to quality affordable housing and workforce housing. Several such projects are going on in the township and neighboring Kennett Square borough, she said. Chester County 2020 is a nonprofit organization helping to create livable communities by bringing people together to find common ground and then working to transform dialogue into action.
