New Personal Support Programme for all Ei Publican Partnerships pub teams From May you will be receiving through your Regional Manager a pub pack with details of the new free personal support programme, including free counselling, for all members of your pub team. The support is provided by the Licensed Trade Charity, an independent organisation that supports all pub and bar workers. As well as free counselling, the helpline provides support for other issues such as Housing, Money, Health and Training.

Financial support may also be available for those needing more support e.g. help with rent or paying essential bills if someone is off sick and not earning enough, or support for children of those working in a pub.

Expected to be one of the busiest occasions of the year for pubs, it’s important to make your business stand out as the place to be to watch all the unmissable action.
Send your pub to promotion In the run up to the FIFA World Cup™, promoting your pub and the games that you will be showing will be important to notify customers of your offering. Outside • Put out A-Boards and banners facing the flow of customers or traffic • Ensure external chalkboards are updated • Organise your team to do a flyer drop to your local area advertising the games and your food and drink offer Inside • Make sure to display fixture posters where customers can see them • Use table talkers with your drink offers • Advertise your VIP areas if you have them and any preorder options available
Digital • Social media is big for sport – get talking about the games on your social media platforms • Create events and invite your customers, this will give you an indication of what footfall to expect • Invite local businesses and your neighbours to watch the games after work
Make sure your team is the winning team Almost more important than the home team is your team behind the bar. Make sure your team is fully briefed ahead of the big games and be the perfect manager. • Have a plan and stick with it • Involve the whole team – engage your staff and get them involved in the planning process • Allocate roles and tasks for all team members • Incentivise your team to be prepared and to achieve their sales targets
