POWER C HAIR MIT T
• Fits over Powerchair arm and control joystick
• No more strugling to remove gloves/mittens
• Direct hand contact with control joystick
• Hands easily inserted and removed to handle essential items
• Converts to hand warmers for carer assisted wheelchairs
• Patent and two registered designs in the UK and all EU countries
POWERCHAIR USERS
who suffer from cold and debilitating hand conditions such as cerebral palsy, rheumatoid arthritis, Raynaud syndrome and numerous others that restrict the movement of the hands have the almost impossible task of putting gloves/mittens on when venturing outside only to struggle again removing them to handle essential everyday items such as phone, money, keys etc, many having to rely on a carer present to perform this task for them.
Users who suffer from cerebral palsy in their hands and not fortunate enough to have carer/PA assistance rely solely on pulling their coat cuff down over their controller hand for protection resulting in cracked/ damaged fingers as these are still exposed to the elements.
Users also have a degree of difficulty operating their powerchair due to the awkwardness of gloves/mittens and also run the risk of dropping gloves to the floor when putting them on or taking them off.
THE POWERCHAIR MITT has been specifically designed to eliminate these problems for the user giving them back more freedom and independence.
“Easy to take my hands in and out of the Mitt to operate my phone something I could not do wearing gloves”
SINGLE OR DOUBLE HAND PROTECTION
The powerchair mitts main purpose is for the control joystick hand but due to its Patented Design another can easily be converted for the non controller hand by simply closing the flap on the mitt sealing the aperture from the elements and attaching to the non controller arm keeping both hands waterproof and dry. Having both forearms and hands on the the arms of the powerchair results in the user sitting in a proper upright position which is needed for correct posture.
Hand Warmers for Carer Assisted Wheelchairs
Another advantage of the converted powerchair mitt is that it can be used for carer assisted wheelchairs which is ideal for the elderly who suffer from the cold especially the hands. Once assembled the mitts can be left on the wheelchair permanently even when folded down.
“The mitt was put on my clients chair and she could put her hand in and out easily, great idea”
“I no longer need my carer to come with me to the shops as I can remove my hand from the mitt and handle money myself”
