THEY READY NEW NETFLIX COMEDY SPECIAL By: Vulture

In her early days as a stand-up, Tiffany Haddish was broke and homeless, sleeping in her car while grinding it out on comedy stages in and around Los Angeles. One night after a show, fellow up-and-coming comedian Kevin Hart noticed that Haddish was living out of her vehicle and decided to loan her $300, which she used to get a cheap motel for a week where she could regroup and come up with a game plan. A week later she moved into her very own complete dump of an apartment, and the rest was, as they say, history. Most great comics have heartwarming stories of people who saw something special in them and gave a helping hand, major emotional boost, or career-altering break. But what’s even more compelling is when those same comics show that they haven’t forgotten where they came from and prove it by using their success to reach a couple of rungs back down the ladder to pull others up. Haddish’s new Netflix series Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready, which premieres today, is a perfect example of that. A play on Haddish’s 2017 special She Ready, the series features half-hour standup sets from six diverse entertainers handpicked by Haddish herself. As Haddish explained on NBC’s Today, “I had my deal already to do my special and they offered me a little more money, right? I was like, ‘How about instead of giving me that money, we use that money to give six other comedians an opportunity to shine?’”

Haddish used her current star power to vouch for Chaunté Wayans (Wild n’ Out), April Macie (Last Comic Standing), Tracey Ashley (The Last O.G.), Aida Rodriguez (Comedy Central’s This Week at the Comedy Cellar), Flame Monroe (Def Comedy Jam), and Marlo Williams (BET’s ComicView), all of whom have been performing for at least a decade, some clocking in over 20 years in comedy. They’ve all had their share of relative success but have struggled to break into the mainstream. According to Haddish, now is their time. They ready.

SHE STILL STANDS “I had no limits regardless of the circumstances.”

After the passing of her Mother in 2007, who passed on in her hands after a short sickness, Nikita ended up living at the orphanage before she could meet the Ackerman’s Manager who took her in until she completed her Matric. This did not demotivate her in making a name for herself. “I used to go to church with my grandmother, my passion for modeling started then. At the age of six years, I would do steps at church with other kids my age when there was tea or welcoming of the new dignitaries.” Nikita showed signs of being a leader from a very young age. When visiting her grandmother in Durban, she managed to organize a group of young kids to model, dance and act. Surely, she was destined for the big league.

It takes a special kind of a person to go through the worst times in life from a young age but still manages to rise above all become a role model to many young people. Nikita -Aliyah Mgoduka is one of many young people who went from being and yet she is still standing tall and getting stronger every day, the 23-year-old Miss Africa Continental top ten finalists has a moving story to tell.

“My Role Model is no other person but the young me. I had no limits regardless of the circumstances that were life-threatening I remained and maintained myself.” She completed her Matric at the age of 16years old (the Year 2012) in Hillbrow (Johannesburg) Senior Secondary School, the same year she participated in the Regional Pageant and became the 1st Princess. This would prove to be a door opener to so many more opportunities in the modeling field for her.

she is currently the only Assistant Country Director for International Youth Model United Nations in South Africa, has attended Misk Global Forum in Saudi Arabia in 2018 as the only youth representative from South Africa, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and was part of the Africa Summit 2018 in honoring of the Mandela Legacy, currently MS05 in the Top10 as Ms. Africa Continental 2020 Finalist. Nikita says she has seen how young kids out there miss their intended dreams in life due to poor backgrounds and peer pressure, so to give back to the community Nikita registered an organization called Aliyah Modesty Modeling School with intentions to share the skills with the upcoming, models, artists, and creatives. “More than 300 Models and Artists have been equipped and introduced to local and international stages, jobs and just allowed to showcase their talents." “Aliyah Modesty Models School had its first annual event Miss Buffalo City High Schools pageant and Talent Showcase 2019 which due to the high demand of proposals to accommodate all the youth without restrictions according to where they live from Parents, AMMS Initiative has been mended to Mr. and Miss Eastern Cape Schools Beauty Pageant and Talent Showcase, 2nd annual event which we look forward to.” Mentorship is provided at Aliyah Modesty Models School for Career, turning your passion into a business, how to keep in Shape, Beauty, Lifestyle, Fashion, Dance, promotion and all things concerning the modeling world. When not working Nikita enjoys the outdoors to relax her mind and gain some new perspective outlook on life and she can't wait to travel the world more.

"When I'm not working I visit the parks or children's homes. I love a bit of space also, so going to a nature reserve gives me peace. So far Sun City Resorts, great holiday destination to be at relaxing while playing. Still looking forward to more experiences throughout South Africa." Her goal is to empower young girls who have an interest in modeling. "To the other young ladies, especially young ladies, know what it is you want from modeling. Do not overwhelm yourself with million competitions, choose the competition which speaks to your path. Always know that no career requires you to leave school and pay millions to showcase your talent and there's no career. "

REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT KIMBERLY By: Vuyokazi Vika

Kimberly is the capital city of the Northern Province, famously known for its rich historical importance due to the diamond mining, and its attraction to tourists due to the fun activities that can be found there. The Big Hole is a world-class tourist attraction with an open-air steel platform that juts over the Hole giving one a vertigoinducing view right into the chasm. The water in the hole is green. The colour is more like turquoise, and apparently, due to the algae, it makes for interesting photographs.

Kamfers Dam is a privately owned permanent water body of 400 hectors. The wetland was originally dry and dependent on rainwater. In recent times its water level rose due to the input of constant runoff and treated water from the growing city of Kimberley. The area of water at the dam has become a major breeding site for flamingos.

KAMFERS DAM

It is one of the best open-air museums in the world; the Kimberley Mine Museum is an absolute must for visitors to Kimberly in the Northern Cape. It is situated right next to the world-renowned Big Hole and tells the intriguing tale of this part of South Africa during its Victorian heyday. Side note... The best time to visit Kimberley in South Africa is during the dry season when you will have a pleasant till hot temperature and limited rainfall. Heavy rains and swelling rivers prevent access to Kimberley’s central plateau area.

DIGGER’S FOUNTAIN

Kimberly mine museum The Diggers’ Memorial is one of the monuments that constitute part of this heritage, contributing to it importantly. It depicts five life-sized miners holding up a diamond sieve, high above their heads. Their strength and power are seen as they work hard under the weight of the sieve. This is a working fountain, situated in the heart of the Ernest Oppenheimer Gardens. ENVY MAGAZINE 30
