My dream has always been to bring a better way to shop to Sl. Yes, SL has hundreds of bloggers with pages and groups, impossible to keep up with. Yes, you can get alerts from your favorite creator but you know that you just don’t have the time to review the 42 group notices, dozen or so Facebook groups and bookmark all the bloggers who pop up every other day. E N V Y, a magazine full of the exclusives that are dropping now without waiting a month between publications, the lag of shopping , time consumption or forgetting to check blogger pages and Flickr. Click&Shop directly from the pages here. You’ll see them highlight as you turn the page or hover over their ads to go directly to the Marketplace or SLURL. Come back here to always find what you’re looking for, in one easy and accessible place, E N V Y MAGAZINE. Happy Good Friday and Easter to you and yours.

We talk to the mastermind behind Black Wall Street: Leigh Puissant 9

“...our story is more than just a sob story of ‘we lived in Africa; we were brought over here as slaves’...I want to shed light on the positive.”.” Leigh 10

event,

ore than a weekly

Black Wall Street offers a museum, creative weekly themes, education about its real life origin, shopping for days and an opportunity for unity in the greater Second Life community! We visited and walked around Black Wall Street with the owner and creator Leigh Puissant who dropped some knowledge on E N V Y MAGAZINE to tell us what Black Wall Street is all about! 11

Aubrey Ricci: What do you hope to accomplish with Black Wall Street?

Leigh Puissant: Accomplish unity in the Urban community because urban extends past Black. I want people to stick together because only we truly know what we go through here, everyone else can just assume. I feel there is an unlimited supply of money within SL and it can be equitably distributed.

Aubrey Ricci: What made you choose Black Wall Street for a name?

Leigh Puissant: To pay respect to the original Black Wall Street of Tulsa, Oklahoma because it was one of the most successful economic developments of the 20th Century.

Aubrey Ricci: This is also reflected in your museums above your event?

Leigh Puissant: Yes.

Aubrey Ricci: What made you choose to do the museums?

Leigh Puissant: It was bringing something different to the table, and being a business owner anyone can put an event together. But making one that a person will remember because it’s different was our goal. To have a clothing event, shopping event and educational event - I have accomplished that goal. I make people understand their history a little bit better.

Aubrey Ricci: With every event you have a themed museum, am I correct?

Leigh Puissant: Yes.

Aubrey: Ricci: What was the themed museum this month? 12

Leigh Puissant: Black Space.

Aubrey Ricci: What does that consist of?

Leigh Puissant: The name Black Space is a name play on the deepest part of space because it’s just black. The actual museum of Black Space is to pay respect to the impact Black people have had in space. Aeronautics are what we focused on along with the mathematics, measuring how far you can walk to pick up a sample before it’s less contaminated from the fuel of the rocket. Mathematics of metals to protect travelers. That was researched and executed by the people featured at our event.

Aubrey Ricci: In the future, what are you looking to establish?

Leigh Puissant: Honestly, to expand and bring in more knowledge. Our next event is called The Originals.

Aubrey Ricci: It would be the Original people am I correct?

Leigh Puissant: Yes. The Original people as much feel that everything started of light, it started of dark and very dark before the white washing. Now everyone’s features are changed.

Aubrey Ricci: What are you looking to accomplish with the event? Meaning in size?

Leigh Puissant: Well, the original was 10 designers, but we ended up with 24. This time we only looked to have 25 and we ended up with 34. We are probably going to stay at that number to remain very exclusive. I really feel so blessed. Its been sooo hard and nothing has come easy.

13

Aubrey Ricci: Do you feel the stress is worth it?

Leigh Puissant: Hell yes! Excuse my language. The knowledge that I drop on people is definitely worth it. I love all of my people and that’s not just Black people, that’s all of the Urban community and those who feel weighed down by stereotypes. I want you to prosper. I want people to know that we come from a very rich group of people. And I feel younger generations have been brainwashed.

Aubrey Ricci: Thank you for this interview Leigh. We are enjoying the new exhibit happening now at Black Wall Street.

Leigh Puissant: Thank you, it was my pleasure.
