Event Overview Supporting the development of Oman’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in line with the Directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said has been one of the core emphasis areas for Omran.

The process of supporting and nurturing smes has been proven as not just a key method for

boosting private sector employment levels but also positively impacting direct Omani involvement in the economy. Omran has been at the forefront of leading this change, by supporting a number of initiatives directed towards the sme sector – Ozooma Omania, is one such event organised in

association with the public authority for small and medium enterprises Development (pasmeD).

Targeting a spectrum of small and medium enterprises (smes) in the food and beverage/hospitality sector, this event was held between 21 and 22 september, 2014 at muscat City Centre and focused towards reaching out to the Omani market and to upgrade the quality of products and services provided within the sultanate.

in addition to promoting small and medium size enterprises, Ozooma Omania is also a platform for the exchange and sharing of ideas, experiences and best practices between participants.

hospitality is one of Omran’s main strengths, and by incorporating key customers’ views and

suggestions, the event ensured a holistic approach towards creating awareness about the smes within the local market as well as encourage them to innovate further.

Objectives

Oman has a thriving hospitality sector.

however, there is significant room for improvement in both business practices and quality among

local businesses, especially smes.

as a result, this event was primarily aimed at enhancing the brand image and quality of Omani

restaurants and CafĂŠ among the corporate sector and raise their profile and appeal to local visitors.

furthermore, this event was also aimed at encouraging and creating awareness on entrepreneurship

amongst the local public; covering its various benefits as well as addressing any perceived shortfalls.

The event was also aimed at further promoting Omani owned restaurants and CafĂŠ based businesses, especially those based in malls and shopping Centers and provided them with

an open forum through which new business partnerships could be forged.

After Ozooma Omania In line with our initial objectives of the event, each of the participants were assisted in signing

various agreements with government as well as non-government entities for food catering services in the future; thereby ensuring the sustainability of their business. In total seven such agreements were signed, bringing the event to a successful end.
