ARGO EGYPT EXPANDS ITS FACILITIES
Three years aſter its start-up ARGO Egypt is expanding its production capacity and warehouse space. A re-organization in production facilities is now on the way and this can offer the company more effective workflows. In parallel new blow molding equipment is added to increase production capacity. An extra space of 2,200sqm is added to cover the increased needs in warehouse space. Even short time in the local market, Argo Egypt has achieved good fame for its products quality and flexibility in services and it is honored by well known demanding customers like Johnson & Johnson, L’Oreal, Danone, Nefertary, Framchem, Chema, etc.

RENOVATION OF QUALITY CONTROL LABORATORY ARGO GREECE has recently completed the renovation of its Quality Control Laboratory in line with modern ergonomic principles. Product and materials inspection is one of the most demanding tasks. Therefore particular attention was paid to high illuminance lighting in order to maximize detection in all inspection areas. Walls were painted with light colors so that visual fatigue is reduced and personnel efficiency enhanced. Rigorous testing of all produced items, including in-process as well as finished product control, according to the established methods and sampling plans takes place ensuring conformity to all agreed specifications. Methods and apparatus in the lab are set in line with the relevant international standards (ISO, DIN, ASTM and UN). Our continuous commitment to high quality and services is not only reflected in the construction of a modern laboratory. More importantly ARGO, as always, focused on the competence of QC personnel by employing another 3 qualified young inspectors. Today, ARGO GREECE Quality Unit employs 15 persons that cover efficiently all manufacturing process steps, from raw materials receipt to finished product release.
MASTIHACARE CREAMS are travelling in tubes Mastiha is a resinous sap produced from the trunk and branches of the lentish (Pistacia lentiscus var. Chia). By scratching the tree with a sharp tool, masiha exits in teardrop shape. The mastic tree variety, found only in Chios island at the North Aegean sea, concocts a magic recipe which gives pleasure, relief and remedy through its precious tears. The Chios Gum Mastic Growers Association, through its firm Mediterra, offers a range of gourmet products and cosmetics with the natural Chios mastiha in their compositions. For their new Sunscreen creams they use Argo’s polyethylene tubes, printed with dry-offset in matte version. Their closure is flip top natural in color.

DYNAMIC COLLABORATION of ARGO EGYPT with L’ OREAL
Strengthening its strategic co-operation with L’OREAL EGYPT, ARGO Egypt has successfully started the production of bottles for famous brands, like ELVIVE and FRUCTIS. The bottles for these brands are offered in a range of colors. The sizes are ELVIVE 700ml and FRUCTIS 200, 400 and 700ml. For this project, ARGO collaborated closely with L’OREAL and 3 new machines have been added to our plant at El Obour, Cairo for these bottles. Additionally, ARGO EGYPT has been recently awarded one more project for bottles, which will be realized within the 3 coming months. Bottles’ composition varies according the needs of each brand’s image including PP, Multilayer and PET.

TUBES ADD CONVENIENCE IN USE to Savana colorants Fabryo-Atlas Paints is a leader in Romanian market of the decorative paints and renderings, The company’s portfolio includes products sold under SAVANA, APLA, INNENWEISS and ROST brands, operating mainly on thermal insulation, waterproofing, mortars, decorative paints and lacquers market segments. Behind products’ superior quality and performance there are two modern plants and a big professional Research & Development team. Savana is the most awarded brand in decorative finishes industry. Recently Fabryo-Atlas Paints decided to offer Savana colorants in Argo’s tubes, giving consumer’s the possibility to enjoy the extra convenience, this packaging provides and in parallel support brand’s superiority with an excellent appearance. The tube is white and is combined with black cap. The white background of the dyed polyethylene, highlights a demanding colorful artwork, printed with dry-offset. The black screw-on closure is adding a dominant base for best demonstration on retail shelves.
FULL PACKAGING SOLUTION for NEOVITA veterinary vitamins Vanelli, based at Iasi Romania, is active in the production of veterinary medicines. The company has already 20 years experience in animal care and shows continuous growth, especially the last years, when Romanian agricultural and livestock are developing in more professional way. Vanelli currently has over 500 products in its portfolio produced in modern plants and aligned with European legislation. Long time now the company has found an ally in the packaging field: Argo Rom Plastics. Recently one more product line named Neovita is launched in Argo Rom’s packaging solution including white HDPE bottle 100ml, 28mm tamper evident closure and a dosing cup for ease serve. Neovita veterinary liquid food supplements have now a nice, safe and functional packaging to support their brand. 06 | IN Packaging Progress
TWO EVA PHARMA’S EYE DROPS in Argo’s TE010 droppers Eva Pharma is one of Egypt’s leading pharmaceutical companies, built on the heritage of Les Laboratoires Delta, Egypt’s second oldest pharmaceutical company. Today, Eva Pharma is the fastest growing pharmaceutical company in the MENA region, transforming from a successful local company into a strong multinational organization, with a sales and marketing presence across the region. For its eye drops Optest and Moxiflox, the company produces, is now using the successful Argo’s model TE010 5ml eye dropper offered sterilized with gamma irradiation. • Optest ophthalmic solution is indicated for the prevention of itching associated with allergic conjunctivitis. • Moxiflox eye drops, with Moxifloxacin as active ingredient. Moxifloxacin, a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone, inhibits the DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV required for bacterial DNA replication, repair, and recombination.
RE-LAUNCHING Mirage 60ml Pill jar The new Mirage PE 60ml pill jar is more functional and stronger shelf appeal. Its wider in diameter. The new diameter is 45mm. It fits with an also wider closure, 35mm in diameter. The closure is tear-off band, snapon and has gloss surface finish. Both jar and closure comply with European pharmacopoeia.
SQS THE NEW CERTIFYING BODY for Argo Rom The Swiss Association for Quality and Management Systems is the new certifying body for Argo Rom Plastics. SQS certified Argo Rom Plastics for manufacturing and distribution of plastic packaging materials and similar items, according the two standards: ISO9001:2008 Quality Management System and ISO14001:2004 Environmental Management System. www.argo-sa.gr | ARGO June 2014 | 07

Our Petrut ARSENE Argo recently lost Petrut Arsene, Production Manager of Argo Rom…Our Petrut, was a highly skilled and professional manager, with deep knowledge in polymers processing and packaging production. He graduated from Polytechnic University of Bucharest as Mechanical Engineer and he had been working at Argo Rom since 1999. He contributed a lot to Argo Rom’s good evolution. Our colleague Petrut was a dynamic person, facing all difficulties with a generous smile and always working with team mentality. Certainly his carrier should be very promising. He was just 41 years old, when he passed away. We stand by his lovely family. We’ll miss him !
Social contribution
From early beginning ARGO has been aware of its community involvement and contribution towards training, cultural and other support of local society. Its latest activities in this field include donations in audiovisual means to 1st High school at Koropi, stackable beds to 4th Kindergarten at Markopoulo, heating oil to 1st Preliminary school at Kitsi, consumables to the local Police station.

Interpack 2014 with 2,700 exhibitors and 175,000 visitors proved that remains the world’s most important trade fair for packaging industry. The majority of exhibitors and visitors (over than 60%) were coming out of 120 nations showing the international character of this fair. A team of four persons from Argo and Argo Rom (Charis Katsichtis, Nefeli Tsapala, Agnes Andrei and Vicky Tzioli )visited the fair searching for new market trends, equipment and material new proposals and applications. The segment on focus was as usually Food / Beverage concerning filling equipment and 10 | IN Packaging Progress
packaging materials with special halls for confectionery and bakery products. In parallel the Save Food congress was again organized by Messe Düsseldorf and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The goal of the SAVE FOOD initiative is to reduce global food loss and wastage in order to improve food security for people and to conserve resources. Certainly proper and qualitative packaging contributes a lot to this problem elimination. The event also dealt with solutions and Best Practices presented by enterprises fighting food losses and waste.
Once again visitors noticed further consolidation of packaging industry and market globalization. The dominating themes at the fair were production flexibility and efficiency like robotic technologies, equipment dedicated for small production lots with minimum material & energy waste and set up costs. Innovations on printing technologies are mostly with laser, 3D and digital technologies. Low-cost and eco-friendly concepts are again of high interest with quite few raw material suppliers promoting biopolymers and biodegradable polymers with still a lot of issues under research. Anti-counterfeiting remains hot as well. Fighting counterfeiting is constant challenge for packaging providers. ARGO has already applications on the these issues, while its R&D department runs new related projects. In spring 2017 the next Interpack will open again its gates to welcome the experts of global packaging sector.
