be strong, be bold: for you will cause these people to inherit the land … keep this book of the torah upon your lips… meditate on it day and night, so that you will take care to act according to everything written it… then your undertakings will prosper and you will succeed —Joshua 1

leading God’s people into their inheritance

leading God’s people I urge the congregation leaders among you… shepherd the flock of God that is in your care exercising oversight not out of constraint, but willingly, as God wants… not out of a desire for dishonest gain, but with enthusiasm… not as machers* domineering over those in your care, but as people who become examples to the flock —

Jesus – our example in humility let this same attitude and purpose and humble mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus – let him be your example in humility - who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God … did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained; but stripped Himself of all privileges and rightful dignity so as to assume the guise of a servant, a slave, in that He became like men and was born a human being… —
