Volunteers don’t get paid, not because they’re worthless, but because they’re Priceless We have always believed that EPSF-BeniSuef is more than just a volunteer work it is a notion, a notion we have believed in, shared and spread out year after year and some notions have the potentials to change the world. And now we face one of life’s most persistent and urgent questions: “What are you doing for others?” In this newsletter we answer the question in a way that is more than satisfactory, we have tried our best to leave a fingerprint. Here is a variety of events that EPSF-BeniSuef conducted through the first semester, take a look and try to answer the question on your own.

BLOOD DONATION
You dont have to be a doctor to save lives Just donate Blood. • EPSF-BeniSuef holds the blood donation campaign every year for almost 10 years. • This year is different as we aim to get regular donors who donate every 3 months and to raise the percentage of blood donors in Egypt from %1 to %3 by 2030. • Not only blood donation is a heroic task but also, Blood donation has benefits on health including: 11. Energizing the blood circulation so increasing revitalization of the body. 22. Reducing the incidence of heart attacks and cerebral hemorrhage. 33. Reducing Iron percentage in red blood cells because iron is a toxic substance when increased and therefore reducing the risk of these diseases. •
Therefore, the first phase was done from 14th of November 2019 to 29th of November 2019 including:
11. At 14th of November (The local workshop) we held in the Beni-Suef pharmacists› syndicate from to understood the topic and be ready for the upcoming. 22. At 18th of November (School day), we had a visit to «The girls’ high school» to instill the notion of blood donation to the young generation. 33. At 19th and 20th of November (University region days), we managed to aware a huge number of university students. 44. At 26th of November, we held the campaign in “ ”ميــدان الزراعييــنin cooperation with EPSF NUB to maximize our efforts and we are working on the same idea so our cooperation would have strengthened us. 55. At 29th of November, we were in “ ”خلوصياvillage in cooperation with EPSF-NUB again to spread our concepts in remote places.
• As a conclusion, we managed to aware 1920 persons at the offline campaign and 1000 persons in our online campaign and collect 97 blood bags and we detected a serious disease for one person through the campaign.

Due to acute shortage of blood supply, there are needs to be an immediate call to action to ensure that people in need of the blood don›t get perished, and therefore it›s our responsibility as Egyptians to take part in this blood donation campaigns and initiate to save millions of lives.
•
Finally, Life is full of surprises and you may find yourself in the same predicament in future so donate blood today and save a life and believe when we say «Give more than you take».
•
We are holding this campaign again in March so if you are interested you can follow or social media platforms to know when and where you will find us.
PHOCUS «Are you interested in clinical pharmacy?» «What is the meaning of «PHocus»?» •
Pharmacists in Egypt are getting upset by time because a lot of people say they are «only seller» but in fact, the pharmacy is the first place the patient goes to feel better.
•
F irst of all, pharmacists should be well educated and skilled then spread the right concepts of the pharmacy profession to people who should also know this to respect Pharmacists and their vital role among «medical field professions.»
•
« EPSF» plays an essential role in providing the pharmacy students with knowledge via its educational project «PHocus.»
•
« PHocus» is a project held by cooperation between Professional Development committee concerned with professional, scientific knowledge and Continuous Education concerned with soft skills that help attendees in searching and finding the right data they need like: 1 1.
Data collection.
2 2. Learning styles. 3 3. M OOCs. 4 4. E -learning.
The project consisted of three phases:
The project consisted of three phases:
11.
22. The second phase included a workshop for training and qualifying the attendees for the final competition and was attended by 30 persons. 33. The third phase was a local competition, which was the best way for pharmacy students to implement skills and knowledge gained through the phases.
The first phase was the sessions phase and had lasted for three days; this phase was attended by 70 pharmacy students • 1st day: − Dr. Yasser Shalaby (Beni-Suef pharmacists› syndicate Secretary-General) had attended as a supporter and public figure. − Dr. Hoda (Lecturer in clinical pharmac y department Beni-Suef University) facilitated a session about: 11. −− Therefore, there were 12 competitors who were actively participating, seeking to be the finalist in the national competition, as the first winner in clinical competition would have received a paid trip to Seoul South Korea where he/she would represent EPSF in the 66th IPSF world congress and the winner team of the presentation competition would have a free training. −− In addition, all participants in the local competition with certificate supported by EPSF-BeniSuef president and BeniSuef pharmacists› syndicate. − In the «PHocus» project, we succeeded in satisfying our vision, as we always seek to create a new generation of qualified pharmacists by providing them with knowledge in clinical fields and skills which are needed to develop themselves as well as giving them a chance to win valuable rewards. − This qualified generation can effectively improve public health in the community. − People always ask for pharmacists› advice firstly, as they are available any time, and they answer for free, so as a pharmacist, you should have updated knowledge in your field to be trusted to gain social respect while serving them.

The book of the world:
SEP
«The world is a book and those who don›t travel read only one page»
Saint Augustine, one of the quotes that really embodies the purpose and goal of the SEP.
• Because what defines the SEP is that it’s the opportunity to read the whole book. It gives you the chance to travel to different countries, meet different people and learn about different cultures. All of that plus the training and experience you will need in your field of pharmacy. With the SEP you will read the whole book and learn, gain experience, and have fun while doing so. • So let us introduce you to the SEP: • Why the SEP? • Who can apply for the SEP? It is the only student exchange “What is SEP?” Any pharmacy student can program which offers you apply for it; you just need education, new culture, and It’s the «Student Exchange to be honest, have a good entertainment in a unique Program» for pharmacy students behavior, nice representation experience, and it›s a good held by IPSF in over 70 countries of yourself and country, and chance to get out of your comfort all over the world. have good communication zone and try new challenges and skills adventures.
We first made the SEP promotion on two phases: 11. Online phase: we distributed our efforts on different platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. We tried
22.
• • •
to target over 500 pharmacy students to aware them about the SEP opportunity and convince some of them to take the chance. The offline phase: it consisted of two workshops. The first workshop was in the form of an international night aiming to attract pharmacy students. EPSF-BeniSuef members represented certain countries using flags, currencies, passports, and even food, it contained information about the SEP in these countries and about their cultures The second workshop aimed to increase the awareness about the SEP. We covered all the aspects concerning the SEP and its process; we used the certificates of SEPers and also some souvenirs and coins as visual advertisement. Some SEPers shared their experiences in the SEP during both workshops. Through the promotion 24 persons have submitted the application form, 9 of them did the local interview and 6 of them made it to the national interview. 2 students have been accepted and now they have chosen the countries they want to travel to and they are preparing themselves. Actually, the SEP is not asking for much from students to be accepted, they only have to have good communication skills, good handling of situations, good attitude, and be able to speak English fluently as well as any other basic requirements. So, if the world is a book and SEP is your library, then we are your librarian. In the end, we would like to say that we were not born to stay still, we encourage all to travel and try new experiences their lives.
