Illinois Tollway Systemwide Maintenace Facilities
MUTLIPLE LOCATIONS, ILLINOIS
Epstein is providing Phase I and Phase II architecture and engineering services for the development of a strategic system-wide master plan which includes reconstructed LEED certified structures, site specific master plans, and phased repair plans for the Illinois Tollway’s maintenance facilities. As a part of the Illinois Tollway’s 15-year, $12 billion capital program: Move Illinois: The Illinois Tollway Driving the Future, the Tollway is reconstructing and rehabilitating its aging maintenance facilities. This program entails the design and construction documents for two sizes of maintenance facilities, master plans for 10 other sites and facility assessments of all sites on a two-year recurring basis.
Village of Wilmette Public Works Facility Expansion
WILMETTE, ILLINOIS
The Village of Wilmette, in an effort to improve the quality and efficiency of their Public Works operations, commissioned Epstein to provide architectural design and engineering services for the expansion of their existing 15,000 square foot facility at 711 Laramie Avenue. The expansion project consists of a 5,000 square foot administration building and a 5,000 square foot wash bay building. The administration building accommodates offices and open work station areas for supervisors and superintendents from the streets, forestry, water and sewer departments. The wash bay building can accommodate four trucks simultaneously and two of the wash bays are automatic while the remaining two are manual. The wash bay equipment has been specified with a unique water recycling system.
PACE Paratransit Garage
MCHENRY COUNTY, ILLINOIS
Epstein provided architectural and engineering services for a 27,000 sf maintenance and storage garage. The facility provides storage for up to 40-thirty foot long vehicles with a maintenance area which includes three repair bays. One of the bays serves as an inspection pit while another acts as a drive-on (flush with floor) scissor lift, and the third bay is a flat and clear work space. The garage also has space dedicated to storage for parts, fare boxes, and vehicle fluids (Vehicle fueling is provided onsite by an underground double-walled fiberglass storage tank for diesel fuel of approximately 7,000 -10,000 gallon capacity).
Peoples Gas & Light Central Shop Field Service Center
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
Epstein served as the architect of record and civil engineer for the Peoples Gas & Light (PGL) Central Shop Field Service Center, which is constructed at 4207 West 35th Place, Chicago, IL. The two-story building is a field service center that houses PGL’s personnel and assets that are engaged in operating the utility company and maintaining its infrastructure systems. Employees check in at the facility to receive assignments and pick-up resources to complete assigned projects. The 75,560-square-foot building features employee training rooms, locker and fitness rooms, support offices, warehouse with loading docks, tool room and field support shops on the first floor. The second floor includes offices, a conference room and a breakout space with outdoor patios for employees. The building also serves as a fleet hub and service center with a 6 Service Bay repair garage (including lifts and lube room), a dedicated bay for vehicle wash, as well as other utility support areas.
CTA 74th Street Bus Garage & Maintenance Facility
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
Architectural and engineering design services for a 360,000 square foot facility which includes office, drivers lounge, ticket sales, parking and maintenance/repair areas to accommodate 250 vehicles. The maintenance/repair area includes service space for vaulting and cleaning; 9 hoist positions with all the necessary fluid dispensing capabilities; 4 indoor fueling stations; a body shop with hoist position; a tire change area with hoist position; a storage area for replacement parts; a bus staging/parking area; & a detached transportation office.
AAFES Vehicle Maintenance Facility
USAG HUMPHREYS, SOUTH KOREA
This standalone 20,000 square foot Vehicle Maintenance Facility includes all elements and fit-out for the servicing of heavy tractors and trailer equipment used by AAFES for their distribution throughout South Korea to other base locations.
WinCo Foods Vehicle Maintenance Facility
CERES, CALIFORNIA
DesignBuild services for a 12,800 sf expansion to the existing vehicle maintenance facility which consisted of 2 1/2 truck service bays, an automated exterior trailer wash bay and ancillary office spaces.
