The size is 24 inches x 30 inches and this was made in Grade 12. I was influenced to do this painting as I love Halloween and skeletons. Every year I would do a grave yard on the lawn in front of my house to make it spooky for the little kids when they came for Trick or Treating. I would put tomb stones and skeletons all over the lawn with leaves. I believe that when you die that your spirit risings from your body which is why I showed the spirit in strokes of white and turquoise leaving the skeleton’s body.
The principle of contrast was done by using the colours white and black. Also the asymmetrical balance is that the skeleton is the same on both side yet is it different. I used shading to create the effects of light and darkness.
