The size is 24 inches x 30 inches and this was made in grade 12. I was influenced to do this independent painting by a video game I play called Destiny 2. I am a huge fan of adventure and I wanted to express it with this painting. The story behind the painting is that there is a guardian that is holding a special red orb that he found and it was a key to unlock the seal on the ancient building that was sealed many years ago on a far away planet.
For my painting techniques I used acrylic paints and for the background from the elements of art I used value by using a brush and mixing different colours. I made sure to spread out the colours so that I could blend them together but also show them as different. I used the simple basic colours of black, grey and turquoise to paint the pyramid and guardian. Then, I used a sponge technique to make the fog around the pyramid and and red moon to show the element of contrast between the black pyramid and red moon with the white fog.
