Welcome to the start of Fall Soccer! After a long, busy summer, it is great to finally shift our attention to the start of another soccer season. I am happy to share that as of Fall 2019, NCYSA has developed a Parent Education Committee for its members. This is something that the membership has been requesting over the years, and now we are finally able to provide a wide range of resources to support your association's parents. Every sport would benefit from better sideline behavior, inspiring our players, and making the sport more fun. We are collecting the best ideas and actions that have worked around the country, for our associations to share and build on. We think parents need the “how” and the “why” to make sidelines more positive and the car ride home more inspiring to our players. -Boxley Llewellyn Parent Education Committee Chair
The Parent Education Committee is represented by coaches, players, parents, a registrar, a referee, NCYSA staff, and DOCs from across North Carolina. Our goal is to make this content available to parents directly look for an easier path to USYS and NCYSA parent content on our website. We hope your association will explore the parent tab on our NCYSA website and share it with your parents. More information will come at the Annual General Meeting in January 2020.

2020 Registration for new referees and referees recertifying Those re-certifying 2020 is now open on the NCSRA USSF-NC Central Hub in Arbiter. Registrations completed after September 30, 2019 for re-certifying referees increase in cost by $20. You can register now and new referees can complete their on line course and in person clinic requirements.
Re-certifying referee coursework on line is not yet available but will hopefully be up by no later than mid August. (When you complete the coursework has no effect on registration cost so long as your Arbiter registration was completed by 9-30-19).
For new referees the in person training clinics which are required have been added to Arbiter. Area Referee Administrators and most Assignors can add these clinics. (Not all assignors have yet been scoped for this new "sport/level" and if you have not been just give the clinic info to your ARA to create the "game" assignment. Only new referees are ranked to be assigned as students to these new clinics and they should be able to self assign the slots. Additionally, the option to assign a "shadow AR" to games at levels up to U14 has been added. This new position of shadow AR is to be used to assign brand new referees to specific games to follow or "shadow" the assigned farside AR to become acquainted with their new role. These slots are set up as zero pay unless your club makes other arrangments.
