WELCOME A MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER, THE GALLERY GOLF CLUB Jeremy Duda As we near fall I would like to remind everyone of our overseed dates. We will be closing The North Course from September 13th through October 9th. South Course will be closed October 1st through October 30th. There is an overlap of October 1st through October 9th where neither course will be open. The Grille will remain open normal hours for lunch and dinner during the overseed. A big thank you to Noah and the maintenance staff for all the hard work this summer. They do a fantastic job year round, however the summer temperatures in Arizona are exceptionally challenging and the staff works hard daily to ensure great course conditions are enjoyed by the Members. We will be hosting a Par 3 tournament this Saturday, August 6th followed by a fantastic brunch in The Grille. Please sign up on ForeTees to play in this fun event. Lastly, please remember to leave the golf course how you would like to find it. Repair ball barks, fill divots, properly rake bunkers and do not drive golf carts next to greens.

GOLF AT THE GALLERY COURSE MAINTENANCE UPDATE Noah Gessler As August begins, monsoons are halfway over with less than one inch of rain. These rains are a big help with transition as the clean water and humidity are more favorable for bermuda. The result is a slower transition than last year, when we had record monsoon rainfall. We are continuing to aerify fairways and roughs to relieve compaction and increase water infiltration. The removal of thatch accumulated at the surface will also help transition. In addition to course wide fertilization, we are spot fertilizing weaker areas to help.
July and August are the months when the bentgrass greens are most delicate as they deal with the heat and humidity. They’re very prone to mechanical damage from the mowers and we must protect against this scalping in fear of killing grass. We’ll continue bi-weekly light verticutting and topdressing to offset the growth. Once the days shorten and temperatures begin to drop, most notably at night, we’ll be able to be more aggressive and work the putting surfaces more to firm them and speed them up.
Bunker restoration on the South course is underway!
The South bunker project is moving along nicely and the resulting bunkers are a much different style. The crew is working to complete holes #1-4 and #14-18 first so we can look to open up those nine holes. This will allow for increased tee times first thing in the morning and will also give us a chance to rest nine holes on the North at times for the rest of the summer. Thank you, Noah Gessler

GOLF AT THE GALLERY GOLF UPDATE Mike Russell, PGA Dear Members, I hope you are having a fantastic summer thus far and enjoying time with family and friends. As we head into the month of August, the staff is busy preparing for the upcoming season. The Golf Schedule of Events is out, and we are working on the finer details of each event. These details will be posted in ForeTees very soon. Our most recent 9, Wine & Dine was held on July 22nd and I would like to personally thank all who participated. Congratulations to our Low Gross winners, Patrick & Julie Lucey and Jack & Julie See with a score of 30. Also, a BIG shoutout to our Low Net winners, Don & Debbie Wood and Mike & Ana Hunter with a score of 25 (winning in a scorecard playoff).
Our next 9, Wine & Dine will be held on Friday, August 19th. Please sign up with the Golf Shop or on ForeTees. We are having a "Par 3 Shootout" this Saturday, August 6th. This is a 2-person scramble event with no holes playing longer than 150 yards. Brunch will be served following play with bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary’s too! GOLF AT THE GOLF CLUB AT DOVE MOUNTAIN DOVE MOUNTAIN UPDATE Matt Nuechterlein
July was another hot and humid month for the golf course, but it did bring us a little bit of much needed monsoon moisture. We hosted our first ever Member-Staff Outing and it was a huge success! Our team and the Members who participated agreed; events like these allow Members to spend some time with our team outside of the daily work interaction. We look forward to hosting more Member-Staff outings in August, September and throughout the season. The major golf events schedule for the Fall 2022Spring 2023 season was released earlier this month. We cannot wait to begin hosting some large member events again. Please remember, this schedule is just the major golf events - more Sunset Gatherings, Par 3 Contests, Social Events, 9 & Wine's, etc. will be added throughout the season. We are greatly looking forward to the cooler weather this Fall and the return of more Members to the Club. The F&B team is working diligently with our team to create a refined Members' Grill Menu that includes a dinner and lunch menu, as well as finalizing more frequent operational hours. The opening of our Members' Grill for Members' dining has been a continued success and we look forward to expanding upon that this season.
Finally, August will be our final month as a course listed on GOLFNOW. Our ownership and management team are focused on improving the member experience and focusing on growing our Membership activity at the club. We are going to segment the tee sheet more this season to allow Members preferential tee times at the club. As always, if you need anything or want to chat about the Club, please know my door is always open. Thanks for being a great member of our Club!

GOLF AT THE GOLF CLUB AT DOVE MOUNTAIN GOLF CORNER Jake Hermes
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and has gotten a chance to escape the desert heat and get out of town a time or two. Monsoon season seems to be ramping up here on the mountain, as we have received some measurable rainfall this past week and it looks like we may have a good chance of afternoon storms for the next couple of weeks. Remember, as we move through monsoon season there are a few things that all Members and guests should be aware of: Dove Mountain and The Gallery do not have a siren or warning systems for inclement weather. Please be sure that you are monitoring the radar from your phone and make sure to seek shelter when a storm is approaching. Thunderstorms tend to happen in the early to midafternoon. Playing earlier in the day will help you avoid these dangerous storms.
In July, Dove Mountain hosted a Member/Pro event on with twenty Members playing with five of our professional staff. These are great events that allow our staff the chance to spend time with different Members for a full day of golf and are a great way for Members to get to know our professional staff. We will be hosting one of these each month moving forward, so please keep a look out on the Weekly Outlook as to when the next event will be! See you all around the Club and hit 'em straight! Do not enter into any areas that have running water crossing cart paths, washes or low lying areas. Golf cars can become stuck very quickly and can cause a dangerous situation. Lastly, these storms can cause a lot of runoff and damage to the golf course. Please be patient with our maintenance teams as they work on cleanup after a storm.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT This month's Member Spotlight is on John and Kim Hillman! Originally from Highland Park, Illinois (a suburb just north of Chicago) John and Kim were each other's childhood crushes and sweethearts throughout grade school. After reconnecting 30 years later, the Hillmans have been happily married for three and a half years and have five children (ages 19-32) between the two of them. After becoming empty nesters, they moved to Arizona last October after falling in love with the area. Kim had spent much time in Scottsdale, as she had a second home there for many years, and knew that this magical state would one day be home. They now live here full time and have property in Dove Mountain, where they are looking forward to building their desert dream home! John works for a Minneapolis based software company, and Kim is an entrepreneur and has two companies that focuses on skincare and athleisure wear. Besides golfing, they love "good food, good wine, and good people." They also love to travel (they are hoping to one day see all the national parks in an RV), try new restaurants, go to the theatre, and hike! We are so lucky to have the Hillmans in our Club!

FOOD & BEVERAGE RECIPE OF THE MONTH: THE ORIGINAL TOMMY TSUNAMI Special Edition by Tom Attarian Ingredients (makes one cocktail) 1 3/4 - 2 oz. Grey Goose Orange vodka depending on preference .5 oz. Cointreau triple sec liqueur 6 wedges of fresh lime juice 1 - 1.5 oz. cranberry juice depending on preference lemon twist peel (to rim and garnish) chilled martini glass cocktail shaker Steps: Mix together vodka, cointreau, lime juice, and cranberry in cocktail shaker. Strain into chilled martini glass. Rim your glass with lemon peel (using the outside of the lemon). Garnish with peel and enjoy!

Happy Summer! As so many of our Members leave for the summer months, please know that I am happy to place any special orders for Gallery or Dove items that can be drop-shipped directly to your summer residence. While I’m not able to guarantee the availability of specific items, I can certainly check. August is a fun month for the Merchandise team, as we head back to the SGRA Merchandise Expo in Mesa. This is our opportunity to meet with our preferred vendors to place orders for the upcoming season and to check out any new vendors and new lines hitting the market.
