elcome to August! I hope you have been able to spend some quality time with your family and ends, despite the heat! I have thoroughly enjoyed my first two months at Black Hawk I have also joyed meeting many of you and look forward to meeting and spending time with you all The staff have done an excellent job thus far, I continue to be impressed with the work ethic and look forward to assisting everyone with providing you with more opportunities to visit Black Hawk Country Club
Brad and the entire Agronomy Team have done an outstanding job dealing with the high temperatures and the challenges it brings The golf course continues to respond well to the adjusted agronomy practices that Brad and Mike have put into place
The Black Hawk Team has some fun events planned for you in August! We hope you can attend and look forward to seeing you!

Happy August, Black Hawk Members!
Projects continue to be in full swing Due to some untimely weather at the beginning of July, some of the scheduled projects that we had hoped to be started last month ended up getting pushed back into August With that being said, it will add some excitement in a month that is one of those you just kind of strap yourself in and hold on The renovation of the bridge on hole #12, the installation of a new bulkhead on hole #14, and the installation of the SOX lake bank erosion control system on hole #17 will now all take place in August
We will continue our greens programs, nutritional and cultural, but will incorporate regular brushing along with our weekly verticutting and topdressing August 8 -10 we will be performing a second aerification
On tees and fairways, similar to greens, we will continue our nutritional and cultural programs throughout the month and will be verticutting and aerifying during our closure on August 8-10.

We are officially in the back half of the year. Coming up in August, we have the ABCD Scramble on August 19th with a pairings party on August 18th This is a fun format that gets you to meet new members The A player will pick the B player, then the B player will pick the C player and the D player The entry fee is $125 a player so make sure to mark the date on your calendar
Also, in August we have our second and final aerification on August 8th – 10th. The course and practice areas will be closed during this time The Pro Shop will be open from 8am-5pm The dining room and fitness will be open during normal hours

We will be holding the next installment of “The Game” on Thursday, August 3rd at 5:30pm This event is going to be a 9-Hole Par 3 Contest. This will be a two-person best-ball format. Each hole will have the tee boxes moved to a Par 3 distance. Anyone is welcome to play in this event, including guests Guests will have a $50 guest fee on top of the entry fee into the event Entry into the event is $34 a player and there is an optional $20 cash skins game as well Please contact Adam Schmitt at aschmitt@bhawkcc com to get signed up
On August 11th, we will be hosting the Couples Twilight Finale. We will be wrapping up the Couples season with a “Not So Newlywed” themed event. We will be teeing off at 4:30pm and the format will be a two-person Scramble After golf, you will come inside to the Oak Room where our very special guest will host the “Not So Newlywed” Game where you will have a chance to get strokes off your score based on questions answered correctly This game will be a blast! You and your significant other are not going to want to miss this! The entry fee is $75 a player and includes apps, prizes, and more.
