We appreciate your understanding as we strive to have as little disruption as possible. A few quick notes about the event: Each membership will receive four (4) passes each day of tournament play Labor Day Weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Both locker rooms will be used during the tournament by the players and caddies. Your locker will need to be cleared out by August 23. NEW MEMBERS MEMBERSHIP UPDATE Tony Giannetti

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS Jamie & Sekeeta Hryniewich Michael Proulx

The finest clubs and institutions all have two themes: a sense of community and membership by invitation. The sense of community grows stronger as Members invite friends, family, and colleagues to join their Club. If all Members invited just one friend, one family member, or one colleague, The International would not only have a solid foundation for the Future, but it would also continue to have the best, and friendliest Members in all of New England. Here is our ask: think of just one friend that you would like to refer and give their name to Tony. He will then set up a personalized golf experience with you and your prospective Member, after which your invitee may continue by filling out an application and completing the enrollment process.

The member with the most referrals who join the club in 2022 will earn a complimentary spot in the LIV Invitational Pro-AM. Included in the Pro-Am is (2) invitations to the LIV Golf Welcoming Party, One playing spot in a Four-Ball alongside two LIV Golf Pro’s, extensive food and beverage before and after play and on course prizes and VIP Gifts. This is a once and a lifetime opportunity for you to play with the Pro’s. We are committed to building the referral culture at The International and will foster this culture through consistent reminders, recognition, and a few surprises along the way. The facilities that are taking shape at The International are amazing, but it is the referral culture that will truly take our Club to the next level. Just one referral from every Member is all it will take. Please reach out to me at 413-427-6920 or tony.giannetti@theinternational.com

COURSE MAINTENANCE TURFGRASS UPDATE Michael Galvin

As golfers, a small amount of our time and attention can go a long way in helping to maintain high-quality playing conditions here at The International. Repairing ball marks on the putting greens is an easy way to make a positive impact, but the importance of ball mark repair and the proper tools and technique are often misunderstood. The proper technique for ball mark repair is fast and easy. Insert the ball mark repair tool behind the ball mark and gently pull the top of the tool toward the center. Continue working around the ball mark, pulling the surrounding turf in toward the center of the indentation. Avoid using a lifting or twisting motion because this can damage turf roots. Once you have finished pulling turf in toward the center, gently tamp the area down with your putter to create a smooth, firm surface.

PRO SHOP - GOLF RULES/ TIPS COACHING TEE: PRE-SHOT ROUTINE Paul Celano Four T’s A consistent pre-shot routine is a common denominator for successful ball strikers. That routine consists of Four T’s. Begin your routine by standing behind the golf ball and identifying your Target line. When stepping into the shot and taking your stance, your focus then turns to grip Tension as you will want to grip the club lightly. The final part of that routine is to make two or three looks down your Target line versus focusing on the golf ball, thus helping to minimize Tension with your grip and forearms . When focusing on your Target and minimizing Tension you are now set to swing the club with a smoother and flowing Tempo, which leads to better Timing which helps produce proper impact.

RETAIL RETAIL UPDATE

Jim Demallie

The club demonstration program provides you, the member, to demonstrate the latest technology companies have to offer to improve you game. If the wedge game is a challenge, we can offer multiple lofts and bounces to help reduce your score. The Bounce of a wedge can make the difference between a perfectly struck ball ending up next to the hole vs “skulling” or laying the “sod” over resulting in a double bogey or worse. Unlike the longer irons in the bag, wedges provide bounce to help control your shot during the turf interaction. A player who takes large and deep divots with their wedges would benefit with a wedge having greater bounce than they do currently. The reason for this is that your current wedges’ leading edge is digging into the ground during impact and the bounce of the club is not great enough to prevent the digging action cased by the leading edge. By using a greater bounce wedge, the golfer is promoting the back of the club to make contact to the ground before the leading edge, thus “bouncing” not digging the club over the turf. This is also proven when the bunkers are full of exceptionally soft and loose sand. Since the back edge of the club is making contact to the sand before the leading edge of the club, the divot in the sand is going to be shallower and the club will glide throughout the sand vs digging into the sand.

Bob Vokey has created multiple combinations in bounces and grinds in his SM9 wedges. All of which are available for you to try. I encourage you to take your own wedge and compare to the SM9 made by Titleist. You may see a remarkable difference in control and feel with these SM9 Vokey wedges. The same can be true in technology with the longer clubs in your bag. The International offers you the opportunity to compare your current driver and fairway woods with the latest in Taylor Made Stealth technology and in Callaway with the new and improved Rogue line. Today’s drivers are designed for specific shafts based on clubhead speed and ball speeds. Let the professional staff help you fit into the proper head/loft and settings for the longest and straightest drives you have ever hit.
