WELCOME GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE Dear Members, Welcome to August! We made it through a hot July after a nice turn out for our 4th of July celebration to kick off the month. We certainly continue to need some rain but Jim and the Agro Team have accomplished a lot around the course this summer, and we are setting up nicely for a great Fall. We will perform our second and final greens aerification August 15th through the 17th. Be sure to check out and enjoy the new weekly traditions that Marsha and the F&B Team will be hosting this month. Lastly, Brian and the Wellness Team did an amazing job of hosting our summer camps and activities for the kiddos. We had some great turnouts with a lot of youthful smiles and exerted energy. I hope you enjoy this month’s newsletter and updates from the department heads below. If there’s anything I can be of assistance with, please let me know. What a summer! I hope all of you are loving this windy, hot & dry weather as much as I am. I feel like I am back in the Sonoran Desert. The grass doesn’t mind it, either. We are looking forward to another good month to continue making improvements. We do have an aerification scheduled for the middle of the month. You can expect pristine playing conditions for the Black Hawk Invitational, and they will keep improving as we remove more and more organic material. We will continue alternating verticutting and venting on the Tuesday Maintenance half-days, as well as other projects, to keep making enhancements to your golf course.
HELP US IN WELCOMING: Ben Kozlovsky is the new Superintendent on Black Hawk. He joined the team in June and brings a great deal of experience to us from Barton Creek, as well as a lot of knowledge and a good sense of humor. Say hello to Ben when you see him out there.

Hello Black Hawk Members! I hope you all have been enjoying your summer at Black Hawk! The Club has been full of awesome events such as Kids Movie Night and the Summer Sizzler Tournament. The Golf Department had a busy calendar for the month of July, and even more exciting tournaments to take off in upcoming months. Coming Thursday, September 15th is the New Member Mixer! If you have joined the club in the year 2022 please join us to meet and greet other members and the staff! We hope to see you there.

GOLF GOLF UPDATE Trent Peddy
Members, July has been an exceptional month for member events. We wrapped up July with the biggest party of the summer, The Summer Sizzler. This was a twoperson scramble format with some wacky holes on the course. Dunk a pro, then each team moved straight to the green with a beer courtesy of Karbach Brewery. This was just part of the fun challenges on the course and we look forward to hosting the same tournament year after year. To us, this is a fun way to get great involvement for golfers of all skill levels with a touch of competition at the end with the horse race. Over the course of the next year, we will be working to upgrade our range amenities. Things we are looking to add are chairs, tents, and new club cleaners. We will also be taking a long look at our pitching and chipping area and see what additions we are able to make with them as well. If you have any ideas, please feel free to voice them to me in when you see me around the club. The Black Hawk Invitational Member Guest is currently full with two on the wait list already. Should you want to have your name put on the alternate list then please shoot me an email and I will gladly do so. As always thank you for being the best part of Black Hawk Country Club.

LADIES GOLF Dear Members, We welcome you to partake in our Ladies Golf Events! Whether you are recently getting into to golf, or a seasoned vet, our events are fun and light hearted with a touch of competition. On Wednesday mornings at 9:00am, we have tee times available for you to play in our Ladies Weekly Game where you can practice your game surrounded by our lovely Black Hawk Ladies. Then, the second to last Wednesday each month is our Ladies Monthly Game where I set up a format or a game for everyone to participate in with a chance to win a prize designated to that monthly game. This has a bit more of a competitive aspect than the Weekly Game, but we still encourage you to participate in both! With Summer coming to an abrupt end, I can honestly say this summer was one to remember. Not only because of the record high temperatures, but because of all the awesome kids who took part in the Club's Summer offerings. It has been a pleasure to meet and teach every one of your children, and see them in our Monday & Wednesday Kids Activities after Tennis Camp. If you have not had the chance to sign up, I am offering one last Tennis Camp August 1st-4th. To have an eventful end to Kids Activities, the last activity will be the beloved "In It to Win It Game Show". WELLNESS PICKLEBALL UPDATE We certainly hope everyone has been enjoying and learning a lot from Dr. Maxey's Pickleball Drills! New sessions begin on the first Thursday of every month. Newcomers to the game of Pickleball are always welcome and encouraged. Coming in September will be more social events for the pickleball players!
