GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE Jim Wallace

So far, spring green-up is going well. It is unseasonably dry with high winds, so it seems as though we are greening up a little slower than years past. However, looking at some pictures and our fertilization & chemical records, I would say we are a little ahead. It was good to get some needed rain this week. The golf course is shaping up nicely and with more warm afternoons on the way the Poa will be dying off more rapidly. We are planning for a different application of fall pre-emergent for a better greens transition into 2023. We were able to complete bulkhead and bridge projects over the first four months and we plan to continue with course improvements in the months to come.

We will continue spraying urea on tees and around greens' complexes. Aerification and verticutting of tees will begin Tuesday, April 26th. You can expect to see areas sanded and cultivated where we want rapid movement, as well as areas prepped for sod. Thank you all for you patience and support for our efforts improving the golf course for the best playing conditions! Have fun, Jim Wallace

GOLF MAY GOLF EVENTS Trent Peddy Thank you for making me feel so welcome my first few days on property. I look forward to meeting everyone as I am very excited to be leading the charge in the golf department. As we look ahead into May we are going to revamp the Member Event Schedule. Most of the event dates will stay the same however we will add some flair to the events. So, let’s take the time to talk about our upcoming May events. Our match play event will become a Match Play Qualifier that will take place on May 14th for $50.00. There will be a morning wave and afternoon wave of tee times. You may select what group you want to be in when you register. Lunch will be provided either before or after the round depending on which wave you choose. The field will be cut into three brackets: the championship, the net, and the senior bracket. The senior division bracket will be for players 56 and older and will use 80% of your handicap. The championship bracket will be straight up and no handicap will be used. The net bracket will use 80% of your handicap. Based on the number of players in each flight we will determine how many qualifiers we will have for each bracket. Once the brackets are formed you will then have two weeks to complete your match with your opponent. This process will continue until we have a champion in each division. The next event in May will be on May 20th and it will be the Member Guest PGA Championship partner with a pro. This will be a 1pm shotgun start. This will be a two-person best ball format. At the conclusion of the round, we will randomly draw a pro to partner with you for the duration of the event. The teams final score will consist of your gross score, net score, and pros score on the final two days of the major. We will split the field into two flights based on total team handicap index.
