AGRONOMY UPDATE, THE GALLERY GOLF CLUB
Mark Soto
Dear Members,
The month of October means overseeding is w underway and our beautiful ryegrass crop has b successfully seeded for the upcoming winter season.
The South Course and “west end” practice tee the driving range are tentatively scheduled to re open on or around the 15th providing weather events and/or other factors have not impacted t maturation process of the ryegrass. Once we ar comfortable with our stand of turf, our team wi perform the first cut of the season This mowing will be immediately followed by a granular ferti application and subsequent foliar (liquid fertilizer) applications to provide the plant with the necessary nutrients to fully mature and tiller
The closure of the North Course is scheduled for October 9th Similar to the South, our Agronomy team will be aerifying the greens with 1/4” tines. This is the second and final aerification of the season. Overseed prep will occur after aerification with seeding scheduled to begin shortly after.
During the closures of both courses, our team will also be addressing site lines, walk paths, desert overgrowth, bunker sand depths, etc. However, our priority remains to perform an extensive audit of our North Course irrigation system. Issues with distribution uniformity, electrical operation, automation, overall efficiency and pump station performance have resulted in a number of problems throughout the course. It is our plan to address these problems to provide better performing playing surfaces from tee to green Additionally, we will be seeding and growing in our 10,000 sq ft bentgrass nursery and practice green adjacent to the practice tee conditions from last season
Thank you all for your continued support as we look forward to a great season aheard!
