Happy New Year! As we step into 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect on the transformative year we ’ ve had at Country Club of the North
2024 was truly a milestone year for our club. Thanks to your unwavering support and feedback, we completed several key capital investments that have elevated the experience for all members Enhancements on the golf course included stunning stonework, picturesque waterfalls, and the complete renovation of over 60 sand bunkers These projects were thoughtfully designed to ensure that CCN remains a place of pride, comfort, and enjoyment for you and your families
Equally important, we invested in our most valuable asset our team. Over the past year, we welcomed several talented individuals to our staff and provided additional training and development opportunities to ensure we deliver the exceptional service and experiences that define Country Club of the North A remarkable country club experience begins with a dedicated, passionate team, and I’m proud of the strides we ’ ve made in this area
Looking ahead, 2025 promises to build on this momentum. We have exciting plans to further enhance the club, from new events and programming to continued improvements to our amenities As always, we are committed to creating a vibrant and welcoming community for all our members
Thank you for being an integral part of the CCN family Your participation and feedback are the foundation of everything we do, and I encourage you to share your thoughts as we strive to make 2025 another incredible year.
Here’s to a fantastic year ahead filled with memorable moments on and off the course Let’s make it fun one to remember!
Warm regards, Rob Bartley

Winter weather has arrived and so have the preparations for the 2025 season We have been focused on projects throughout the course and maintenance facility With winter preparations complete, we look forward to some in-house projects in the weeks to come.
To prepare the course for winter weather we have made snow mold applications to greens as well as topdressing our playing surfaces The topdressing not only helps with sand on the surface, but the sand also assists with protecting the crown of the turf through the cold weather conditions. This in the long run will help the turf recover quickly in the spring. The snow mold application is a fungicide that helps prevent snow mold taking over our greens through the winter months
With the weather being up and down this has given us the opportunity to work at the maintenance facility and pressure wash our equipment and prepare them for their winter preventative maintenance schedule. We have also worked on cleaning up all of our summer tree pruning's and making room for next season's debris We will be focused on preparing course accessories throughout the winter such as cleaning and polishing cart signs, freshening up the paint on our tee markers and repairing and touching up items like our ball washers and trash cans. These are just a few items we focus on when the weather is not favorable for outdoor work on the course
Another project we have been focused on in the month of December is the construction of our new walk bridges. We have begun the project by cutting and fitting all of the lumber in our maintenance facility. We have also begun to dig out new foundations for our new bridges which we will then pour concrete to create a strong foundation These new foundations will keep our bridges from shifting and moving around once they're constructed on the course. Once we finish the pre construction in the maintenance facility we will stain all the materials and then haul the materials out to their new foundations and construct them on the course. We are very excited to complete this project to not only have a fresh look but to make our bridges more user friendly and most importantly safe!
With many more projects on the agenda this winter we are planning and preparing all of our equipment and staff for a very exciting 2025 season. The excitement our staff has at CCN right now is great and we plan to keep the momentum rolling in 2025
We at CCN Agronomy hope everyone had a blessed and safe holiday and hope to see you all very soon!

We are thrilled to welcome Nathan and Caitlin Pfeiffer to the Country Club of the North family! This amazing couple’s journey began in 2019 at the Oktoberfest in Dayton, Ohio, where a mutual friend introduced them. They married on July 16, 2022, and now live together in Miamisburg, Ohio.
Nathan, originally from Waynesville, works as an Enterprise Sales Executive with Siemens Digital Industry Software. Caitlin, who hails from Zanesville, is the High School Choir Director at Miamisburg High School and is heavily involved in the Dayton theatre scene. She recently starred as the lead in Legally Blonde at the Springboro Community Theatre
Nathan is a huge Cincinnati Reds fan, and a fun fact is that his brother-in-law, Claudio Finol, is part of the Pittsburgh Pirates Organization! Nathan’s favorite part of the Club is the newly redesigned course, particularly the waterfall features on Hole 8 and Hole 16.
The Pfeiffers love to travel, and their favorite trip so far was their three-and-a-half-week honeymoon in Hawaii They hiked 48 miles during this trip, exploring the unique colored sands of the islands. Their favorite beach was the red sand beach, which offered the most challenging hike, and they had to ask locals for pointers to make their way. They’re excited for upcoming trips to Dubai and Germany
We are thrilled to have Nathan and Caitlin as Members and look forward to seeing the memories they’ll share with the Club!

Ingredients:
1 medium butternut squash (about 4 cups, peeled and diced)
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 ½ cups Arborio rice
½ cup dry white wine (optional)
4 cups chicken or vegetable broth (kept warm)
½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons fresh sage leaves, finely chopped (optional) ¼ cup heavy cream (optional for extra richness)
Instructions:
Roast the Squash: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) Place the diced butternut squash on a baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper Roast for 25-30 minutes, or until tender and slightly caramelized Set aside
Prepare the Risotto Base: In a large saucepan, heat the butter over medium heat Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes Add the garlic and sauté for another 30 seconds until fragrant
Cook the Rice: Stir in the Arborio rice and cook for 1-2 minutes, until the rice is lightly toasted If using wine, pour it in now and cook, stirring constantly, until it is mostly absorbed by the rice
Add the Broth: Begin adding the warm broth, one ladleful at a time, stirring frequently Wait until most of the liquid is absorbed before adding more broth Continue this process until the rice is cooked al dente and creamy, which should take about 18-20 minutes
Combine Squash and Risotto: Once the rice is fully cooked, gently fold in the roasted squash If you want a richer risotto, stir in the heavy cream at this stage
Finish the Dish: Stir in the Parmesan cheese and fresh sage leaves (if using) Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper
Serve: Spoon the risotto into bowls and garnish with additional Parmesan and sage leaves, if desired Serve hot and enjoy the comforting, creamy flavors of winter squash
