Timely rain and cooler weather have been a welcome surprise as we transition into Fall here at Golf Club of Houston The 2” of rain we received over Labor Day weekend really went a long way in helping push growth for our grasses and helped some of our drought stricken areas heal even more, especially in roughs
If your lie in the roughs seems a bit more difficult lately, it’s not because we ’ ve adjusted the height of cut, it’s remained the same all year long but because the grass is just that much denser This is a great thing heading into October as the Bermuda grass slows down its growth due to shorter days and lower soil temperatures
We’ll make some additional fertilizer applications in the coming weeks to try and heal in other weaker areas around the property and capitalize on what good growing days we have left

WE HAD OUR LARGEST TURNOUT OF THE YEAR FOR DEVIL'S PARTNER! CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS!
For the month of October, we would like to take a moment and share a little bit about Mr Otis Taylor The Taylor family made Fall Creek their home in 2007 They were impressed by the beauty of both golf courses, the opportunity to be part of a premier golf community, and the benefit of being nearby. Golf Club of Houston not only allowed for golf but also provided a fabulous dining facility that the whole family could enjoy.
Mr. Taylor has been in the pharmaceutical industry for the past 22 years, and his profession has allowed him to help improve people's lives and create healthier communities. Currently, Otis is a Regional Sales Manager for Tris Pharma. He mentioned that he enjoys the coaching aspect of his job, along with helping his team members achieve their personal and professional goals.
The love for the game of golf allows for many unforgettable moments. However, memorable golf shots are not always your own; occasionally, you might be a spectator who gets to watch a special moment. Otis was proud to share his experience seeing his wife Linda do just that. A few months ago, Linda made her first hole in one on # 16 while playing the El Cardonal Course at Diamante, a moment that they both will cherish.
Linda and Otis regularly participate in the Couples 9 & Dine events. Being active Members for the past 15 years has allowed them to create lifelong friendships with other Members. Over the years, those friendships have provided the joy of traveling, dinners, and celebrations together. Otis stated that the Club truly has a family feel and is thankful for the camaraderie and the support.

In the meantime, I wanted to share pictures of a couple of marquee golf events hosted this summer on the Tournament Course We were blown away by the presentation of Steph Curry’s Underrated Golf Tour, a new initiative embracing young golfers from underserved communities And what an honor it was to host the 101st Women’s Texas Open It was a hard fought battle, but in the end, Emma McMyler became a two time back to back Women’s Texas Amateur champion following her 3 & 2 victory
We look forward to all the great events we have planned for the fall, including a few hosted by our very own Members
