WELCOME GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE June is the official kick off to summer, and we are excited for all the activities planned for the next couple of months. June marks the return of 6 at 6, continued Couples 9 and Dines, and additional social events. It is also historically the time of year for the first round of aerification for both courses. We have slightly modified our aerification schedule and will be punching the Member Course first, starting on May 31. This will give us more time between aerifications and provide better overall putting surfaces throughout the summer. Aerification is the necessary evil that we must deal with twice per year to have great, healthy greens all year long. We appreciate your continued support and hope to see you at the Club soon. Thanks for being a Member, Reese McCall General Manager

GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE John Freeman We’ve seen just over an inch of rain so far this month and it looks like we’re due for another dry week ahead. We’ve been doing our best running the irrigation at night to keep up with the water demand for the grass and we’ll supplement in the mornings before play to try and stay ahead of any dry areas that emerge. In the meantime, if Mother Nature intends for the courses to be firm and fast so be it, enjoy the extra 20 - 30 yards of rollout on your drives. We’re happy with how the new putting surface on #18 is handling being mowed at lower heights and we’ll continue to fine tune that area until it matches the existing putting surface on that hole.

New sod work was done on #5 Member Course in April. We eliminated the former tree beds on the right side of the hole and plan on continuing the sod work at the end of May, when we will have some more sod delivered. Please stay out of that area while the grass takes root. Superintendent Tip of the Week: For those who have an automatic irrigation system at home, try and pick a morning or evening to run it manually and inspect it for leaks or broken heads. We do this leading into the heavy irrigation season to make sure we don’t have any issues that could lead to bigger problems. PAGE 4

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT Mr. John Pruitt is the feature Member for our June Spotlight. Mr. Pruitt joined the Golf Club of Houston in September 2011 after being convinced by an existing Member and friend, Monte Tinkham, to come and check out the Club. Mr. Pruitt is the reigning Tournament of Champions winner from 2021. After a weather delayed finale, he battled down to the final shot and was able to earn the title of the 2021 overall Champion. Mr. Pruitt generously donated his free golf cart for the year, by auctioning off that privilege and donating the proceeds to the annual employee holiday fund. When asked what his most memorable shot or round played has been, he responded, "during a Club Championship, on Hole 13 (5th flight, of course), I made an eight on day one, and a two on day two—nice bogey average!" He also added, “The Best personal experience is the friendships and acquaintances that are made at GCOH.” Mr. Pruitt has made a positive impact on his peers and the entire team at the Golf Club of Houston.

FOOD & BEVERAGE FEATURED RECIPE Moses Cruz Basted Egg Tartines with Creamed Mustard Ingredients: 2 tablespoons sour cream 1 1/2 tablespoons whole-grain mustard 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice, divided 2 (1/3-inch-thick) rustic bread slices, toasted 1 cup fresh baby mustard greens Kosher salt, to taste Black pepper, to taste 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil 2 large eggs 1/3 cup hot water

Steps: Whisk together sour cream, whole-grain mustard, Dijon mustard, and 1 teaspoon lemon juice in a small bowl. Spread mixture evenly on one side of toast slices. Toss together mustard greens and remaining 1 teaspoon lemon juice in a separate bowl; season to taste with salt and pepper. Mound greens evenly on toasts. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium. Crack eggs into skillet, spacing at least 1 inch apart; cook until whites just start to change color, about 30 seconds. Add 1/3 cup hot water to skillet; cook, basting eggs with water, until whites are just set, and yolks are still runny, about 2 minutes. Place 1 egg on each prepared toast. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately.

PRIVATE EVENTS & RETAIL PRIVATE EVENTS Liz Strong It’s an honor to host some of the most prestigious corporate and charity events at our Club. The ones that are near and dear to our hearts are those we host on behalf of our Members. Today, we’ll spotlight one of our top fall fundraising events— the 12th Annual Frank Billingsley Golf Classic, scheduled on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 on the Tournament Course. Chree Boydstun, supported by a stellar group of Members, have strengthened the event into a fantastic day of golf and a hugely successful one—they set a new record in 2021 with nearly $190,000 raised. The proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit Legacy’s School Based Health Care program, which provides affordable health care services to students at partner schools including KIPP public charter schools, YES Prep and Galena Park ISD. Frank makes it a point to play every year—and does an excellent job keeping those rain clouds away! To become a sponsor or sign-up, please contact Tim Martinez, tjmartinez@legacycommunityhelath.org or (713) 203-7221.

RETAIL Savannah Bolden As a part of my new regional role, Michelle Kempe, our National Director of Merchandise, and I were invited out to Carlsbad, California to pre-line the Adidas Golf Spring/Summer 2023 line. We spent an entire day with the Adidas team in meetings previewing both men’s and women’s shoes, apparel, and accessories. We provided input on items and discussed what is working/not working in our shops as well as different trends we are seeing. There were other customers there, as well as Adidas reps from across the country. We had an opportunity to sit together as a group to discuss what everyone is noticing across the board. I love getting to hear feedback from others. After the meetings were over, we were able to merchandise collections together for our shops. It’s always so nice to be able to see, touch and feel the items in person. I’m looking forward to sharing the new collection with everyone in 2023. PAGE 9
