The month of December brings with it three golf events, and an opportunity to celebrate the Holidays with our families! We look forward to meeting your families that travel to Black Diamond Ranch for the holidays! Diane Finley

This month’s member spotlight is Diane Finley! Diane lives in Black Diamond with her fiancé Bruce Davidson Diane is a Realtor for Plantation Realty, Inc Diane and Bruce have lived in Black Diamond for 3 years and fell in love with the people right off the bat! They both like the game of golf, however, Diane’s real estate activity has kept her very busy and she hasn’t played as much as she would like Diane is from Fort Wayne, Indiana, and has 3 boys: Mac is 31, and James and Jonathan just turned 30 Diane graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Social Work She moved to Florida in 2016 Little did Diane know that Social Work would be such a good background to have when she moved to Florida and changed her career to Real Estate Diane is now a multimillion dollar producer! Taking good care of her clients is her top priority!

Ingredients Needed:

3/4 cup of water, or as needed

2 whole star anise

12 whole cloves, or more to taste

1 (7 pounds) country style ham

1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

1 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 pinch of cayenne pepper

Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit

GLAZED HAM

Cooking Instructions

Pour water, stir anise, and cloves into the bottom of a roasting pan

Place a roasting rack into the pan over the water, anise, and cloves; place ham on the rack

Cut 1/4 inch deep slashes 1/2 inch apart lengthwise and crosswise across the top of the entire ham

Bake ham in the preheated oven for 20 minutes

Whisk brown sugar, honey, mustard, vinegar, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and cayenne pepper together in a bowl until the glaze has a thick, smooth consistency

Brush glaze all over the ham

Continue to bake the ham, brushing the glaze on every 20 minutes, until the glaze is deep golden and the ham is heated through about 2 hours and 10 minutes

An instant read thermometer inserted into the center should read 130 degrees Fahrenheit

Use a kitchen torch to heat the glaze on the ham until it is crispy and caramelized, 2 to 5 minutes

A frost delay is simply the halt of any activity on the turf caused by frost. This includes maintenance tasks. The turf can be harmed by even light foot traffic Although a frost delay is not preferred, it happens frequently during the Winter Everyone involved wants the quickest method of opening the course while still safeguarding the turf It requires a careful mix of waiting, assessing, and watching Only when the frost has lifted, can the maintenance staff begin setting up the course for play So tee times must be held off long enough for the staff to prepare the course for proper play. Patience is a virtue, and as a golfer, your cooperation during a frost delay is greatly appreciated

The season for leaves and pine needles begins in mid to late Fall To maintain the golf course clean and playable, the maintenance team has been using blowing and sweeping machines every day and will continue to do so We complete this within reasonable time constraints because some days are better than others for performing this in terms of wind and other weather conditions.

I would like to remind everyone of the cart traffic rules as we get closer to Winter I always ask that members and their guests drive in the fairways as much as possible The shortcut turf on the fairways can better withstand traffic from golf carts The grass cut at rough height has a tendency to lay down during the Winter in traffic areas, with no way to recover until Spring As you are considering where to enter or exit the fairway, please choose an area that is not already showing wear
