It's the most wonderful time of the year! What a fun year it has been with all of the celebrations we have had with our 50th anniversary; however, it is not over yet! We hope to see all of you at our Christmas party and If you cannot make it to that event, we hope you can come to our new year's party and finish out our 50th anniversary year with a bang! Recapping November, I would like to say great job to Mike Kelly and Steve Glaser for their 11 under par finish in our Thanksgiving turkey shootout! 11 under par as a gross score is very impressive for a two man scramble! If you are looking at getting connected socially or playing in golf tournaments, please reach out to me for assistance! We look forward to seeing you all and have a Merry Christmas!
At the November 2 Election Meeting, members of the WGA elected officers for 2023. New officers are as follows:

Congratulations!
We’ll be ending the year by playing the Red and Green Tournament on December 6 This tournament features match play between 2 person teams who have been paired up by the Pro shop Each team is designated as Red or Green and the teams vie to see which side wins The final Membership Meeting of the year is the Awards Meeting which will be held on December 7
If you are interested in joining the WGA, be sure to contact New Members Chair, Linda Daniels, at l.daniels79@att.net or call 860 334 5214 (cell). The Pro shop staff will help you get involved also.
Happy Holidays!
You may have noticed that a bench has been placed at the putting green. It provides a great place to watch players work on their short game skills and take in the wonderful view of Lake Trace. Member, Philippe Condoret, provided the bench and dedicated it to Dave Sanberg and Adam Dussault.
How amazing and festive does our Club look right now? We owe a big thank you to Members Carol Schock Patty Bokhoven, Pat Diepold, Eileen Burke, Shawneee Yantorno, Jackie Cummings, Melissa Watson, Carina Perrone, and Jane Zellner for all of their hard work decorating the Club and all of our Christmas trees for the holiday season.
If you haven't seen it yet, come on down for dinner and take in the magic!
Winter has come early to the Carolinas! We appreciate your patience and understanding that we have had to place the tarps on the greens this early in the season in order to protect them from the cold. Please understand that Eric and his crew need a considerable amount of time to pull the tarps up in the morning and that they must also wait until the temperature is high enough to do so safely. This means that there may be days in the next few months that I am holding back play from beginning on mornings that you feel like we should be able to be on the course. Ray, Eric and myself are always going to proceed prudently and conservatively in resuming play to ensure that you have the best playing conditions possible throughout the year.
To embrace the arrival of this cold weather and to revel in the joys of the holiday season, we will be having our First Annual Ugly Sweater Open on Saturday, December 17th on the Creek course. This will be a 4 Person Scramble and will be open to Members and their guests only. You may pick your own teams or we can pair you with a group. An "ugly sweater" is highly encouraged. One male and one female player will be voted on by all contestants and will receive a $50 Gift Certificate to the Pro Shop. The member charge for the event will be $10 per player. Guests are welcome for $50. $10 from every entry will go to the purse and all of that amount will be paid out in shop credit An optional $10 gross skins game is available The sign up sheet is posted on the board in the library
Dr Stephen P Smith has a personality that brightens everyone ’ s day! He is a retired internal medicine doctor from Rome, New York where he was the medical director for Rome Memorial Hospital
One of Stephens’s biggest motivators to become a doctor was his father who had dreamed of being a medical doctor until Pearl Harbor was attacked His father felt the need to serve his country and enlisted in the Army Seeing his father’s patriotism pushed him to complete medical school and become a successful doctor
Stephen joined Carolina Trace; because, he enjoys the social atmosphere of the club and meeting new people Stephen is currently not a golfer, but we have gotten him out to the driving range to hit some shots and the sport is growing on him!
T y are here and so is an abundance of new merchandise in the Pro Shop. Just in time for your Christmas and Hanukkah shopping for the golfer(s) in your life. There is cold weather gear from Adidas, Nike, Ahead and Greg Norman for both men and women. We have received an extraordinary supply of golf shirts for men from FootJoy and super cute gear for the ladies from Adidas. We have so much product that we literally don’t have enough space to put it all out. Starting 12 days before Christmas on December 13th, the pro shop will be featuring one item in the shop that will be available on that day only for a special sale price. We will announce that product on the hotline in the morning and will send it out by email on the same day. This item will only be available at this special price for that day only. Lastly, we are offering a 20% discount off the retail price of any FootJoy golf shoes and rain/cold weather gear that you order through us in the month of December. Please see Mike to view the FootJoy catalog and/or look at their website with him to place your order.
Over the month of November there was a ground beef recall. Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc. in Amarillo, Texas, is recalling about 10,000 pounds of raw ground beef due to it being contaminated with “reflective mirror like material,” according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The recall involves raw ground beef produced Nov. 2 at the Tyson Foods facility in Amarillo. Here at Carolina Trace we take all the precautions to make sure we're using the safest and quality products for our members' culinary experience. Notifications are sent to me immediately when a product is recalled or needs to be removed from our shelfs. We also practice proper sanitation and safety precautions and measures in our kitchen. Fortunately, we never received any contaminated ground beef.
During the holiday season there are some fun ways to enjoy great food and entertain your guests. My festive choice is making a charcuterie board. These can seem overwhelming but beautiful centerpieces during a holiday get together. Start with a plating base like a fun cutting board or a display tray. Then add any meats, cheeses, and pickled vegetables. There are a couple stores in Sanford that sell these great products including Aldi, Lowes foods, and Lidl.

Happy Holidays from CTCC Fitness! As we move into this holiday season, let’s grant ourselves balance and kindness with our health and fitness We may have more temptations, between food and drink, social situations, or late nights and mixed up routines We may have guests visiting or staying with us, or traveling to visit family and friends In order to maintain goals and stay on track, amidst all of these potential changes or routine disruptions, practicing consistency with your fitness and wellness journey is important
Keep some things in mind to remain consistent:
Stay active the same number of days, give or take a day
Be open to adapting! Work out from home, shorten or intensify workouts, use different modalities (i e you can workout mostly anywhere using resistance bands)
If traveling, find a fitness class, use home equipment, ask family if they can offer a guest pass to their respective gym
If expecting guests, ask them to join you in your workouts, go for walks together, communicate your fitness routine
Be sure to have your regular food available as not to stray too far from your norm
Stay hydrated! Keep water with you, or even add in electrolytes to your day
Keep your nightly schedule as normal as possible
Allow yourself to indulge from time to time, its all about moderation!
With CTCC Fitness you have a variety of options to workout and to move in the gym, as well as a variety of classes to try out Our fitness community’s been working hard, encouraging one another and learning a lot about their strengths; what an inspiration they’ve been! As we move into the holidays, let’s offer each other positivity, encouragement in our fitness, and a whole lot of joy together we are stronger
