September will find us working diligently to make sure fall pre emerge herbicides are applied to both golf courses These products are applied by sprayers or by rotary spreaders They are immediately irrigated off the leaf and down to the soil The molecules have an affinity to themselves They find each other and create a thin membrane resembling cellophane

CE John Freeman

Millions of winter weeds will germinate that you and I will never see When the first leaf hits the (cellophane) layer of pre emerge herbicide, a small amount will be absorbed, and the plant will expire

Our goal is to have the right product and the right amount of product applied before these plants germinate We will make split apps to insure safe, effective control

The number one noxious weed in the entire world is poa annua, aka, annual bluegrass

September is also the time of year to apply fertilizer to the entire golf course Product of choi i controlled release form of Nitrogen and My choice for N come from carbon and coated products My choice for K is from coated potassium I choose not to apply because all our soil reports show up at elevated levels We apply calcium, mag copper, iron, manganese, molybdenum zinc, as needed, throughout the growin fertilizer is critical for turf to store up ca the stolons and rhizomes so that they w winter With these nutrients in place (s we will monitor soil moisture to make s doesn’t suffer from excessive or deficie Homeowner Tip for this time o Plant growth slows down and most pla little water to survive Too much water worse in landscape than too little Most with 15 18% soil moisture but will dro 35 40% soil moisture

PRO SHOPGOLF RULES & TIPS Bob McHugh Tips for Improving Pace of Play Choose the Right Tee Players should play from a set of tees best suited to their driving distance. TEE IT FORWARD. Ready Golf When a player is at the ball and ready to play, they should go ahead and play Think Ahead As you walk or ride up to the next shot, start assessing the situation and get a feel for the shot, wind, and the yardage. Riding in a Cart Drop your partner off at their ball, then ride ahead to yours Switch drivers if necessary Playing Slow If your group is behind pace and a group playing behind you is playing quicker, please let that group play through. Finding the right fit while exploring a Club Membership takes time, along with personal factors you will immediately recognize.

For Mr. Robert Wiseman, joining Golf Club of Houston in the late spring of last year had him searching for unique factors such as a diverse and inclusive Club, the opportunity to play different courses, and a well maintained course. He found all those in Golf Club of Houston. He mentioned that he enjoys the positive interactions with the staff and other Members every chance he has to get out and play a round of golf. There are always exciting events when you are playing golf and Mr. Wiseman reminisced about an eagle on Hole #9 on the Member Course, “...I drove off the tee to within 98 yards of the hole. Supposedly wind aided, however, I don't remember any wind!"

INTRODUCING ROBERT WISEMAN

When the decision was made to convert the former First Tee building into a new Fitness Center, we immediately contacted Mr. Wiseman to complete the buildout. As a Member, Mr. Wiseman was excited to see the new amenity we were looking to add to the Club, and we were thrilled to work with him to make the dream a reality. In addition to his general contracting work, he runs a real estate investment and development firm. The firm focuses on developing superior build to rent properties across the Houston metro area. Over the past 12 months, the firm has been highly focused on buying and holding property; within that period, the company has acquired over 40 units, with a plan of targeting 100 units over the next 24 months. Along with a busy professional life, Mr. Wiseman has a strong passion for helping senior homeowners and volunteers with Rebuilding Together Houston. The organization assists elderly homeowners with needed home repairs.

Are you entrusting your event to an experienced staff which consistently delivers a knock it out of the park presentation?

The challenge is to create an event with equal parts entertainment, client appreciation and relationship building components We often discuss what makes sense about a golf tournament and what can deliver the results they’re looking for And in the end, if they find themselves answering in the affirmative to the questions below the scales will always tip towards golf!

Are you able to strategically place your sales team and high level executives with your top clients?

Does the event provide the opportunity for quality relationship building?

Does the host location you ’ ve selected reflect positively on you and your organization? Is the activity fun and can it be enjoyed by attendees with a variety of skill levels?

I received a warm thank you note from a new client who recently hosted a customer golf event, something they had never done before “Thanks Liz… GCOH was awesome, and all of our prospects and clients were raving about what a first class event it was. Several large prospects are now beginning to look at us as one of their vendors and we fully anticipate this event being a catalyst for fostering long term relationships with top notch talent. Thanks for everything, and we will certainly be hosting another event with you all soon.” J Alloco

Just about every day, I have conversations with corporate personnel about switching up their lineup of customer events They’re usually weighing their options between a golf tournament and some other networking function

In my 11 years here at the Club, there are few things as satisfying as hearing how we ’ ve been of service to our Members and clients It’s all about the fun and the results! How may we be of service to you? Liz Strong
