Well we have definitely arrived at the dog days of summer! August heat and humidity is on full throttle. Some people love it, some hate it. Whichever the case maybe, we have activities planned at the club that will help get you to September.

If you are avoiding golf for a little while due to the heat, consider stopping by for Happy Hour. We have extended the hours to 3pm to 5pm Tuesday thru Friday to give you more time to enjoy your meeting up with your friends and neighbors

If you don’t mind the heat and would like to work on improving your golf game, we have clinics available every Wednesday morning in August Our Head Pro Billy will take you thru a series of game improvement exercises and help you get the most out of your game Another great opportunity this month is to play nine holes with Billy This is a great way to get some playing tips and watch a pro in action Call the golf shop for details Call the golf shop for details on these events

Did you hear, Turkey Buffet is back! No matter how hot is it outside, it will be cool and comfortable in the Nicklaus Grille. Come enjoy everyone ’ s favorite meal on Saturday August 19th. Reservations required. Be sure to go through the whole newsletter and mark your calendar so you don't miss out. Member Mixer, Ladies Night, Bingo and Prime Rib are scheduled and we look forward to seeing you!

All our Callaway products in stock were priced to match Callaway’s website prices when you take your 10% member discount off. So we are going lower than Callaway before they do! All our in- stock items will have Callaway’s website price less 10% Paradym drivers are still $599 00 on the internet, ours will sell for $539 00 after your member discount. Fairway metal woods and hybrids will be lower than the internet as well, metal woods on Callaway’s website are $349.00, you can purchase them here for $315.00 and the hybrids are down to $279 00 We do have demos that you can take on the range or the course before you purchase.

WOMEN S GOLF ASSOCIATION

Baby, it’s hot out there! Despite the consistently above average temperatures, the ladies of GHWGA are on the links each Tuesday morning engaging in such weekly competitions as “California Scramble,” “Pick a Partner,” “T’s and F’s,” and “Lucky Day.” We are delighted to experience the repaired cart paths, especially the new path from the 7th green to the cement cart path! A good time was had by the contingent of girls who participated in the Fairfield Glade Ladies Invitational in Tennessee. While there were no golf trophies brought home, BJ Mott, Jane Walter, and Gale Hey did return with other significant prizes Just a reminder that any lady who wishes may play with the GHWGA during the summer without becoming a formal member of the league. Come on out, meet the girls, and play some fun golf! We look forward to the 2023-24 season, which begins in mid-September!

LADIES 9 HOLE GOLF LEAGUE

We all know that summer is upon us …. and with that brings hot days and afternoon showers In spite of this uncomfortable and unpredictable weather the LGLGH 9-holeladies continue to play on We are preparing for our official season to begin again in September and run thru May. The cost of being a member of this league is $45 a year plus your cart fees For those of you that may be interested in finding out more about this league, we would like to invite you to come and try it out The league plays on Thursday mornings with a shot-gun start at 8:30. Following golf many of us gather in the club for a light lunch or breakfast. It is an excellent opportunity to socialize and talk about your successes on the golf course We play games on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month which also adds to the fun shared by many. In addition to all of this, we have special event tournaments throughout the year which may include a Ghost & Goblin or Winter Holiday event. By joining the league this opens up so much more that is made available to you such as Coastal Niners or Invitational Tournaments This would give you the opportunity to play at different courses and meet and play with members from the various clubs. MEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION

On August 2 and August 9 we will hold our annual Boys of Summer tournament. Captains this year are Joe Dresnok, Jim Davis, Tom Smith, and Mike O’Brien Thanks for your time guys, it is much appreciated Formats are the same as last year and teams and pairings will be announced before each day of play.

A luncheon for all participants will be held on August 9 after play. It has been exceptionally hot. Please remember to hydrate out there, and good luck to all
