As we move towards summer and the major events are winding down, I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank the entire staff for the remarkable events they put together We had a great calendar of golf, fitness, and social events that were enjoyed by so many of our members. Staff put in long hours during the season and we appreciate the effort in making The Gallery a very special Club.

As we prepare to transition from cool season turfgrass to warm season turfgrass you will notice we have lowered the height of the rough. This is needed to maximize bermudagrass growth making for a better stand of turfgrass. As this occurs, we do have staff on course to remove the clippings. This is very time consuming however, and as you play you might see some of the clippings on a few holes We apologize in advance for the inconvenience this might cause

Last weekend the Club hosted The Gallery Invitational which is our last major event until fall Congratulations goes out to:

Good Day Members,

I hope you all enjoyed another great season at Dove Mountain! We are wrapping up the busier season, but the team is also excited for the summertime.

We hope those of you who participated in our 2023 Men’s Member-Guest or the 2023 Ladies Member-Guest greatly enjoyed the club and sharing your “home” with your guest. Our staff took great pride this year in striving to provide a remarkable experience for you all during these events. Based on some of the feedback we have received, we are proud to say we achieved that goal. Please know we are never satisfied and will continue to focus & refine our events every year to improve in every way possible.

The Golf Club at Dove Mountain

The Saguaro nine will be closing on May 22nd to begin the renovation process This renovation is a massive investment by Escalante into the golf course and will greatly improve our Members experience while playing the golf course The renovation will include: addition of more forward tee boxes, softening of the undulations of all greens, rebuilding of the green complexes, new irrigation around greens & bunkers, renovation of the bunkers, removal of some desert areas with the addition in its place of some more grass acreage, and some layout/design changes to improve the golf courses playability We are all excited for the future of the Club and this project is phase one of our future golf facility

Our team is working on planning/organizing some great summertime events to be held here at the Club We will be e-mailing out a summer event schedule sometime in late May to the membership

Dear Gallery Members,

As the 2022/2023 Golf Season comes to a close, I wanted to take this opportunity to THANK all of you who participated in our Club events this Season! We look forward to enhancing our events next season and hope to build on the positive momentum from this year with increased participation next year!

We crowned our Men’s Member Guest Champion’s along with our Women’s Member Guest Champion’s this past month. Our 2023 Gunslinger Champion’s were, Colin Suttie and Jeff McCrory! Our Women’s Member Guest Champion’s were, Priscilla Park and Sue Basso! C t l ti t Ch i ’

GOLF AGRONOMY UPDATE, THE GOLF CLUB AT DOVE MOUNTAIN

Dear Members,

I hope you all enjoyed our Men’s Member-Guest this April and then Ladies Member-Guest this March! We did everything we could to make the playing conditions as good as possible for you and your guests This season we focused on improving the overall daily golf course conditions at Dove Mountain for our Members and we hope to continue to improve those moving forward

April has been a very exciting month for us, as we have had new pump stations installed! You may have noticed a couple cranes around our two pump houses This infrastructural upgrade is the most important amelioration for our facility, being that water is the most important component for the golf course The new stations are some of the most advanced and efficient systems available, which in turn will allow us to increase the irrigation efficacy, decrease waste and most importantly improve the course conditions

As our Ryegrass season starts to wind down, we begin to ramp up our cultivation practices to ensure our playing conditions continuously improve We begin with the aerification of the Greens and Tees followed by the Fairways and Rough This process of removing cores, decreases compaction and increases the porosity of the soil profile These are obtrusive practices but the resulting surface warrant the disruption Thank you for your patience!

Our entire Golf Course Maintenance staff are excited about the direction we are going and are dedicated to continually improving our amazing property

April brought us the Spring temps that we have all been craving! Our final major of the year (Men’s Member/Guest) wrapped up mid-month and now we prepare for a very eventful next few months here at the Club. As most of you know, we will be an 18-hole facility for the foreseeable future with our course renovations getting underway in May. The staff here is very excited to see the results on our nines as we progress through the process. Please be patient with our team as we navigate through the limited holes we will have during this time. I know that you will all be thrilled with the results.

Now to the results on the golf course from the last month!

4/7/23 – Easter Nine and Dine

Yvette Vreeman and Val McConkey kicked the event off by winning our annual Egg Toss and earning their foursome an additional two strokes off their eventual score! Great job!

1st Place – Ed/Susie Fisher and Adam/Jolene Fisher

2nd Place – Jim/Mary Kay Mosch and Scott/Diane Schafer

The 2023 Men’s Member/Guest was by all accounts the most successful version we have held to date! Participants began with a Par 3 Shootout on Wednesday and ended with our annual Shootout to determine the 2023 Champions. Below are the winners of our Blast Off, Flights Winners and Overall Champion

RECIPE OF THE

THE BEST POTATO SALAD

John Wooters

Ingredients:

2 3/4 pounds baby Yukon Gold or baby red potatoes (about 2 inches each), scrubbed

Kosher salt

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar

Freshly ground black pepper

2 scallions, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley

1 celery rib, cut into 1/4-inch dice

Steps:

1 In a large saucepan, cover the potatoes with cold water and season the water with salt. Bring to a boil over high heat and cook the potatoes until tender, about 15 minutes Drain and let stand until cool enough to handle, about 10 minutes

2. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, whisk the mayonnaise with the mustard and vinegar; season with salt and pepper to taste Stir in the scallions, parsley, and celery

3. Halve the potatoes crosswise and fold them into the dressing. Serve warm or at room temperature.

It’s May and just beginning to warm up and a great time to be outside enjoying this beautiful weather! Please be mindful as the snakes are emerging and we are an open property. If you are lucky to see one, please relay to the desk staff for assistance.

If you are interested in joining a hiking a group, The Sports Club group is growing! We have started a list and it is posted on our bulletin board by the locker rooms. There are a plethora of hiking trails right here on Dove Mountain! Please email Rebecca with any interest.

Registration is officially OPEN for this summer's Kids Camps! Parents and grandparents, bring the kids to The Gallery Golf & Sports Club for Summer Camp! Children will receive world class golf and tennis lessons from our expert professionals, open swim in our state of the art pool, and have FUN all day long!
