I am pleased to announce Mark Soto has joined The Gallery team as our Director of Agronomy!
Mark grew up in Tucson and graduated from The University of Arizona with a degree in Turfgrass Management After graduation, Mark worked at The Gallery for ten years under Paul Ellwood as an Assistant Superintendent Mark was involved with building the South Course as well as oversight in the Accenture tournaments After leaving The Gallery, Mark has been a golf course superintendent at four clubs, most recently La Cantera Resort and Spa in San Antonio, Texas Mark brings a wealth of knowledge to The Gallery and will be instrumental in continuing to improve the Membership's golfing experience. Mark is looking forward to returning to The Gallery, as well as relocating his wife and two boys back to Tucson.
The bunker project is now complete, and the overwhelming Member response has been exceptional The design and playability of the bunkers has exceeded all expectations Now that we have two slightly different sands on North and South, we have removed the North sand from the two bunkers by the tunnel practice green and replaced it with sand from the South bunkers The two bunkers on the driving range will continue to have North sand in them, therefore allowing Members to practice from either sand
Just a reminder, both courses will be closed October 1st through October 9th The Golf Club at Dove Mountain will have 18 holes open and will allow Gallery only golf Members access to play for $45, which also includes cart As always, Icon63 Members have access to golfing at Dove Mountain at all times

I hope all of you enjoyed your summer with friends and family and are looking forward to the upcoming golf season as much as we are! The entire golf staff is eager to welcome you back to The Gallery and are excited to get the season started!
I’m excited to announce that there will be a new set of tees this season! The “Vino Tees” will be established on both the North and South Course following overseed. These tees have been implemented for our lady Members as a shorter yardage option compared to the Rojo Tees. Playing roughly 4,300 yards in total compared to the Rojo Tees at 5,200 yards. The Vino Tees will be rated, so those playing from there may post their scores in GHIN.
On Sunday, October 30th from 3:00 5:00PM we will be hosting a fun filled Halloween Spooktakular Putting Contest on the North Putting Green. This will be an individual competition accompanied by music and libations! For those who would like to participate, please sign up with the Golf Shop or on ForeTees. Don’t forget your Halloween costumes!
I hope you are enjoying a happy and healthy summer with family and friends!
Good Golfing, Mike
The Club is excited to be halfway through the over seeding process Thank you all for your patience and understanding with our need to alter the schedule We had to re seed the Saguaro nine after the unexpected 2 5 inches of rain we received after dropping seed Our plan is to have all 27 holes re opened by November 3rd
Please remember that each nine will need to be cart path only for 14 17 days after re opening to continue the ryegrass grow in process
The golf staff is excited to be welcoming more Members back this Fall We will continue to host our Member Pro outings each month and hope some more Members are able to participate in these fun events
The team is planning to officially open the Members' Grill for dinner service and happy hour by October 19th. The Grill will be open for lunch service leading up to that date on Wednesday Sunday every week. We will be emailing out the revised menu to the Membership at the beginning of October.
We have ordered new bag stands, new ball carriers, and new furniture for the driving range. We expect to have these new items around the beginning of November and look forward to enhancing our Membership experience on the practice facility.
Our team is focused on delivering a higher level of Members experience and service on a daily basis for this upcoming season.
We look forward to cooler weather and more Members arriving back to the Club this fall!
We are heading into October here on Dove Mountain and the weather looks to continue to get cooler during the day We may even have some long sleeved weather in the evenings and the early mornings! This is a fantastic time of year to play early in the mornings to beat the remaining heat and to also get off of the course before the afternoon winds kick up and throw some of that dead Bermuda grass all over the place.
With our Bermuda season behind us and the beautiful Winter Rye grass starting to take root and make the courses really pop, I think it is a good time to take a look at the upcoming Fall Members Event Calendar.
As most of you are aware, the majority of our “Majors” are in the Spring, but there are still plenty of great events to play in and get your game tuned up for 2023. Below is a breakdown of our events for the remainder of the year:
This event format is a 2 person “9 & 9” where the front nine is played as a 2 person Scramble and the back nine is played as 1 Best Net of 2 We will have lunch and awards to follow in the Members' Grill
This event format is a 2 day 2 person tournament. Day 1 will be played as a “Chapman” and Day 2 will be played as 1 Best Net of 2. We will have lunch and awards to follow on Saturday in the Member’s Grill.
Perhaps our most popular event of the Fall, this event is a ton of fun and is full of laughter and good old fashion ribbing from your playing partners. The golf course is set up very easy on the front nine, with players teeing off from forward tees and hitting to the easiest pins on the course When you make the turn to “Hell” is when the fun really starts! The back nine is played from tees set much farther back and to pins that are infuriating to say the least There are tons of obstacles and other devilish items to toy with your emotions for the remainder of the day We host Men’s and Ladies groups for this event and we look forward to it every year
Please keep an eye out for the invitations to these events forthcoming and make sure to sign up and play in our great slate of Fall events this year!
Hit 'em straight!
Thank you,
Another great Member Pro tournament! Jake Hermes Director of Golf The Golf Club at Dove MountainThis month's Member Spotlight is on Mike and Sarah Land!
Both California natives and longtime Arizona residents, Mike and Sarah met "the old fashioned way" on Match com in January 2020 They were engaged one month later, married that summer, and have been together ever since!
Mike is retired after a long career of flying, including flying Black Hawks in Desert Storm, helicopters for Mesa PD, US Customs, and Homeland Security Sarah is semi retired from working with finance consulting, financial services, and helped businesses with fraud prevention.
The Lands joined in 2020 and quickly became very active in playing pickleball at The Gallery Sports Club. One fun fact about Sarah is that she was recently selected to be the USA Pickleball Ambassador for Marana! As a couple, they enjoy playing pickleball together and traveling They are both "car nuts" and hope to visit England soon for all the racing events hosted there.
Mike and Sarah run pickleball groups at The Sports Club throughout the week that is open to everyone of all skill levels! Please contact The Sports Club to get connected today. Beginners are welcome!
