Well to say my first year here at BlackHorse was a fast one would be an understatement As I reflect on the last year, there were many great moments that I enjoyed with our members and our team One thing I have learned about our team is they are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get the job done That type of work ethic gives me a lot of confidence to keep moving the Club forward, knowing the team can handle doing what it takes to make BlackHorse better

I'm excited to have Jesse, our new Head Golf Professional, onboard I have shared many conversations with him over the last month and I know he is excited to get started with us and start making a positive impact on our Club I know his

member-centric mindset and attitude will pay dividends for our membership

Looking forward to 2023, there are many things I hope we can accomplish as a Club I have told many of you that in one year here, I feel as though I just started to scratch the surface

With the membership in mind, I want to put a great deal of focus on our hospitality I think of our team members like Jim in the shop, Terry at the range and Ann Marie in the halfway house I have watched them exemplify servant hearts and go out of their way to make your experience better We have many more members of the team with that same mindset I will challenge the team to continue fostering that attitude and mentality across the entire staff

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and I want to wish you all a Happy New Year It was amazing to have so many of you at the Member Christmas Party It was certainly record attendance and I hope we continue that trend again next year Chef did a great job preparing the menu and the rest of the team executed a really fun party Congrats to those of you that won prizes Hopefully Bobby Chance didn't find out that his name was drawn twice for the grand finale - the part of the drawing where being present was a requirement. I won't tell him if you won't! In all seriousness, thank you for coming out and being a part of that fun evening. Speaking of showing up with record attendance, it was amazing to have so many participants in this year's Santa Hat Classic. The membership has certainly embraced this event and have ensured the paramount success that we saw this year. I can only imagine the joy that 200 young boys and girls

had this Christmas when they got a brand-new bike. Those are the type of moments where you realize just how much this game can impact lives

I shared at the party that I have been a part of the BlackHorse family now for nearly 12 years Many have you have been here longer, some the same and some as recent as a few months ago Regardless, I appreciate your support of our Club and look forward to what 2023 is going to bring I believe our team is just getting stronger and that will yield benefits for the membership that should have everyone excited

If I could ask one thing of the members this year, it would be to continue participating and being engaged at the Club Last year we saw the addition of more programming for the membership and that will continue this year Join us for Couples Golf, Play with the Pro, MGA, Powerball and more We put those events on for you and want as many of you there as possible

COURSE MAINTENANCE

I would like to start out by wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas Most of December has felt like late spring, with temperatures in the mid 80’s This has really greened the courses up and is has looked fantastic for December Unfortunately, the month ended on a very cold note, which wiped out most of the lush turf and replaced it with dormant Bermuda It was going to happen sooner or later

This past month, tree work was continued on both courses with dropping a few more dead trees and some major limbing behind South #2 green. This will open the back on the green to more sun and better turf conditions (see photo below). We edged and cleaned cart paths on the North course and the major drainage repair on North #17 is still moving forward. We are awaiting on parts, a 10” drainpipe and connecting couplings to complete it.

Over-seeded areas have taken off and we are mowing them regularly We appreciate your patience while those areas were closed to allow for the seed to properly germinate Lastly, I would like to thank the maintenance staff for all their hard work and time spent on making these courses the best they can be As always, we were faced with challenges from mother nature and lack of rain during critical points of the summer and they did an amazing job. We are looking forward to next year and continuing to improve as a group and on the courses.
