PRO SHOP - WITCH HOLLOW GOLF RULES & TIPS

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday. The great thing about January is golf season is just around the corner.

With that said, we are rolling out a new event this year at Witch Hollow. It’s called Breakfast Club. The first one for 2023 will be February 19th. We will have a breakfast buffet starting at 7:00 am. You will sign up for golf, eat, we will have a blind draw for teams, 8:00 am shotgun will take off. There will be a team game and individual awards as well. We are still working out some of the details, but mark your calendar for February 19th.

The first of the year is a good time to start breaking some of your bad habits, or adding a shot or two to your portfolio John, Sebastain, and Matt are available to help you get ready for the season Contact the Golf Shop to schedule a lesson

Here’s a great winter tip Brief but frequent This should be your winter practice attitude Brief but frequent practice sessions It’s tough to stand out in the cold and rain to grind on your game for hours upon hours Look for windows of opportunity to get outside for 15 to 20 minutes several days a week to practice a little One footnote to this strategy, work from the hole backward Remember last month I said a player with a good short game is a match for anyone Try to sprinkle in a little short putting, chipping and pitching to or brief but frequent practice sessions.

We hope all your shots are long and true.

See you on the links, John Kawasoe

PRO SHOP - GHOST CREEK GOLF RULES & TIPS

Happy New Year to all! Welcome to 2023! We are all so excited to start off this year with some good golf and fun times! We will be having some great events here at Ghost Creek coming up very soon like the "Ghost Creek Winter Series" so be on the lookout if you are looking to play over on the other side more often!

Start the year off right and make sure your swing is still in good shape! Be sure to book a lesson with your Ghost Creek Head Golf Professional (sstewart@pumpkinridge.com)

PRO TIP: Fairway bunkers can be some golfer's worst nightmares, but I am here to help you feel more comfortable anytime you hit an errant tee shot and recover to make a good score. Even the tour pros only hit the green 50% of the time when hitting out of a fairway bunker, lower your expectations and just make sure to position yourself for the next shot

First you will need to grab a club that is lofted enough to get over the lip of the bunker and whatever else is on top of the lip of the bunker Dig your lead foot into the sand and the wedge your trail foot to help get more weight on the lead side of your stance.

Smooth rhythm in your golf swing is a HUGE key to this shot so do not try and smash the ball to green. Swing easy and get out of trouble! This will help you stay more centered over the golf ball and help you pick it clean.

Another thing tour players don't do very often is hit fairway bunkers, make sure you evaluate your landing spots off the tee and choose a club that is either going to carry, stay short, or completely avoid the bunkers altogether!
