COACH'S CORNER

During a full swing, do you try to keep the club face from turning during your backswing and follow through in order to hit the ball straight?

Do you try to get the club under the ball in order to hit the ball in the air?

Do you keep your balance on the balls of your feet during the swing, otherwise known as an 'athletic stance’?

4 5

Do you think it is important for your toes to be aligned at the target in order to hit the ball to the target?

Do you think your legs should be in the same position when the ball is being struck, as it is when you start the swing?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, there is a concept that is misunderstood which can drastically impact your golf swing

Too many golf instructors assume that these concepts are understood by all golfers and miss the most fundamental beginning to learning the golf swing Posture, Grip, Stance, and Alignment are taught in the first golf lesson by 99 9% of golf professionals None of these will help the full swing for a beginner, if they don’t understand the proper hand rotation (1 ), ball contact (2 ), balance (3 ), ball positioning (4 ), or weight shift (5 )

Remember that there are many optical illusions and concepts that are not necessary logical, but are rational with respect to physics The old adage is that “Golf Is A Game Of Opposites” so if you answered yes to any of the above questions, you ’ re actually in the norm Most golfers have at least one conceptual misunderstanding Ben Hogan was once quoted, “If you do everything in your golf swing the opposite of what you think you should, you’ll probably have a pretty good swing "

FEATURED RECIPIE

TURKEY BURGER

Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

1/2 cup finely chopped red onion

1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs

2 garlic cloves, finely minced

1 tsp sea salt

1 egg

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp liquid smoke

1/2 tsp dried Italian seasoning

1/4 tsp cracked black pepper

Instructions

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside With clean hands, mix the ground turkey with all of the patty ingredients in a large mixing bowl with Gently work the mixture until it's cohesive Divide the meat mixture into four equal portions and carefully form them into patties. Place the patties onto the parchment-lined baking sheet. With your thumb, press a divot into the middle of each patty this will prevent the patty from shrinking on the grill. Place the patties in the fridge and let them chill for about 30 minutes. This helps them firm up so they don't fall apart on the grill.

When it's go time, preheat your grill to medium-high heat around 450º F. Clean the grill well. If you need to grease your grill, dip a wad of paper towels in some vegetable oil and glide the soaked towel along the grate with tongs

Once the grill is ready, transfer the patties to the grill, cover, and let them cook for about 4-5 minutes Gently flip them (they should have nicely formed grill marks on the cooked side), cover, and let them cook for another 4-5 minutes Check the internal temperature with a Meat Thermometer, looking for an internal temperature of 165º F

When the burgers are ready, transfer them to a clean plate or platter and serve them with fresh brioche buns and your choice of toppings.
