CLUB UPDATES
James Paige | VP of Club OperationsWe appreciate all the Members who participated in great June programming around The Club, as we hosted our June Member Mixer, Paint ‘ n Sips, Tie Dye T-Shirts, Kids Night Out, and Mixology. I would like to thank our entire Kingsmill team for putting together a great calendar of events and executing them proudly
Did you know, the Eagles original building color was white? There is a great picture in Todd Gantt’s office of an early Michelob PGA Tour Event, that shows a group walking up #18 to a white Eagles Clubhouse!
July is a great time of year around The Club to celebrate, as Junior Summer Camps and our pools are in full swing! We are excited about our programming this month to include Bracelet Weaving, July Member Mixer at The Tennis Club, Glow Golf, Jammin on The James Concert Number 2 with The Deloreans, and many Food & Beverage specials! Be on the lookout for further communication and details! We hope you can relax and enjoy the programming at The Club with your families and friends
Thank you for being a Member, we look forward to seeing you around!
James PaigeAGRONOMY UPDATE
Jimmy Gabel | Director of AgronomyAs you know, the weather in June has been cooler than usual, which has slowed down the growth of the Bermudagrass on our fairways This has allowed us to add lime to the fairways, tees, and approaches which will help to improve the overall health of the turf. Lime helps to neutralize acidity in the soil, which can lead to several problems, including reduced turf quality, increased susceptibility to pests and diseases, and poor drainage.
Adding lime to Bermudagrass fairways can help to increase turf density, improve color and texture, increase drought tolerance, reduce susceptibility to pests and diseases, improve drainage, and increase soil microbial activity
We are also adding sand to our bunkers at the Woods Course This is a necessary maintenance practice that helps to improve the overall playability of the bunkers Sand can become compacted over time, which can make it difficult to hit out of and can also lead to poor drainage. Over time, we also lose some sand in the bunkers from play and routine maintenance. Adding sand to bunkers can help to improve playability, improve drainage, reduce compaction, increase sand volume, and longer bunker lifespan
In July, we will be adding Zoysia tees to select tee boxes on the River Course Zoysia is a warm-season turfgrass that is known for its durability and wear resistance. It is also a good choice for tee boxes because it is resistant to pests and diseases.
The benefits of Zoysia tee boxes include increased durability, increased wear resistance, reduced susceptibility to pests and diseases, improved drainage, and smoother surface
We appreciate your patience as we complete these maintenance projects. We believe that these changes will improve the overall health and playability of our golf courses
Thank you for your support!

GOLF RULES & TIPS
John Todd Gantt | Head Golf Professional, River Course
Hitting the Toe Down Chip
Chipping from a tight or bad lie can be a difficult task when trying to score around the green. A great method to use is the toe down chip. Here is the best way to execute this shot:
Raise the heel of the club so that only the toe of the wedge is resting on the ground. This will eliminate the bounce of the club and will allow the wedge to move better through the tight/bad lie. For your setup, play the ball off your back foot and grip down on the club. You will need to move closer to the ball due to the rising shaft at address. When making the swing, use only your arms and keep your wrists out of the swing You will want to feel as if you are making a putting stroke. Since you are hitting off the toe, the ball will come out a little slow. You will need to take a bigger backswing in order to get the ball to your intended target.
Thank you for taking the time to read our Golf Tips for July. We look forward to seeing you out on the course!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Mark Florimonte | Executive Chef, CECHello from the Culinary Corner!
It's an exciting time of year around the Resort, we are in full swing hitting fairways. James Landing Grille is open five days a week, and open for lunch on the weekends Elements is serving freshly baked pizza and a variety of salads and daily soup specials. Eagles is staying open later until 10 p.m. every day, and finally, Currents pool café is open until 7 p.m. daily. Not surprisingly, The Mill is non-stop with gallons upon gallons of ice cream being scooped, and our new premade wraps are a big hit. Kingsmill signature Corn and Crab Chowder is now being served in all of our dining facilities along with a fresh soup of the day.
This month I celebrate my one-year anniversary at Kingsmill, and I can't thank everyone enough for all the support and feedback. Enjoy the warm weather, and I look forward to seeing you around the Resort.

TENNIS & RETAIL
TENNIS UPDATE
Director of Racquet Sports | Davy HairstonWhat an exciting time in our world of racquet sports at Kingsmill Our recent Member-Guest Tournament, hosted by Kingsmill Tennis Association, was a huge success with great tennis, food, and fun. Thanks to all of our players and organizers for a wonderful event.
We received new furniture, which is now in place on our deck and patio overlooking our courts, adding a more refined and modern look to the facility. Windscreens have arrived and are being hung around our courts to replace the screens we ’ ve had, AND a new practice wall / backboard has arrived and has been installed to offer both our tennis and pickleball players a great way to improve your game. Hitting against a wall is fantastic practice – it never misses, and it doesn’t talk back!
Summer Camps are in full swing with our Counselors teaching children tennis and pickleball in a fun and social environment These camps extend into August, so sign up before the summer is gone
Summer programs will also be enhanced with Mixers, Exhibitions, and Drop-In play for Members to fill their court time Stop by our newly painted Shop to check it all out
