WELCOME GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE With summer in full swing, we are preparing for two major milestones at the Club: 1. The new Coore and Crenshaw course heads into its next phase, with turf eradication beginning on nine holes of the Pines Course. We will continue to play the entire 18 holes of the Pines through mid-July, then begin the earth work. I will continue with the next steps of the project each month. 2. Our LIV Tour event will take place Sept 2nd – 4th. It’s looking like we will have an amazing field. More ticket and volunteer information will be shared in the coming days. See you at the Club! COURSE MAINTENANCE TURF GRASS UPDATE Michael Galvin We have been doing a lot of verticutting on both the Pines greens and the Oaks greens. Vertical mowing is a maintenance practice periodically performed on greens to accomplish the following objectives: Remove excessive leaf growth that contributes to puffy, spongy surface conditions. Improve mowing quality and surface smoothness. Cut laterally growing stolons and promote an upright growth habit. Open grooves in the turf canopy for the incorporation of sand topdressing. Dislodge and remove Poa annua seed heads. The process involves using a putting green mower fitted with thin, tightly spaced blades that cut vertically into the turf. The depth of the blades is typically adjusted 1/64-inch to 1/8-inch below the effective cutting height so that the blades penetrate the turf canopy. The goal is to thin the turf canopy while maintaining a proper balance of leaf growth and turf density.

PRO SHOP - GOLF RULES/ TIPS COACHING TEE: PRE-SHOT ROUTINE Paul Celano Every shot you play should begin with a specific and consistent pre-shot routine. This will enable you to swing the club with less tension, therefore giving you a more free and effortless feeling for each shot. This is a discipline that must be developed, practiced, and incorporated into your game. When practicing, I recommend that you do this every 2nd or 3rd ball. Here is an example: 1. While looking at your target, aim the clubface; then waggle the club. 2. Look at the target once or twice more while waggling the club. 3. After your last look, pause momentarily before making your swing.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT - VIC KHANNA
Occupation – Quant Investor, FinTech Executive but mostly a full-time Uber driver for his two kiddos Why Vic joined The International – Ever since meeting the crew from Escalante, he immediately saw tremendous potential for The International. Having played many of the Coore & Crenshaw courses across the country, he knew this was the perfect club for a golf enthusiast. Coupled with the camaraderie of the founding members and a great culture of friendship, he is eagerly looking forward to seeing developments on the new course and clubhouse. Fun Fact – Alongside his usual golfing buddies, Vic played 152 rounds in 2021 and is tracking to exceed that number this year. He also authored the infamous “Dot-Game” (which isn’t for the faint of heart). A laminated copy can be found in the ProShop….
