The putting greens are getting fast! How do you get good at distance control? Here are a few suggestions to help you with your putting on these fantastic putting greens here at Trace!
-Distance control is the key for “two putting ” Using your wrists, will only make distance control more difficult!
-See if your backstroke is longer than your forward stroke. If it is, do the opposite!
-Take notes on the greens that fool you, and the greens do not look like they curve the way they actually do In example: Hole number 17 Lake does not look like the ball wants to break from left to right as you approach the green This is because of an optical illusion that the bunkers create on the right hand side of the green.
-When you have a downhill putt and you ’ re within 10 feet of the hole, your focus should be more on the distance control instead of making the putt Otherwise, you could easily end up with a three putt!
Ask me about the putting simulator in the Swing Lab and how that might help you with your distance control
Good luck and keep it down the middle!

F&B Manager Kate Woods
My time here at Carolina Trace Country Club has certainly been an amazing journey! I've enjoyed every position I have held, but I am so excited to serve this Membership in a new capacity as your Food and Beverage Director
We had a fabulous May at CTCC as we experienced everything from carnitas to mint juleps! The crowning jewel of our month was definitely the 2nd Annual Trace Tee Cup Nothing is more rewarding than seeing the amazing creativity of Patty Bokhoven and Carol Schock come to life! We cannot thank them enough for their hard work and support We may not be able to control the weather, but we certainly saw our lady Members having the time of their lives, rain or shine! We look forward to next year!
This month brings the warm weather and that means it's Marathon Bar time! We have some BBQ's and an Island Party planned, so keep an eye out for more information on those! Adding another Burger Night was a big success, so look for that again this month!
As always, I look forward to seeing you in the dining room. Do not hesitate to reach out via email or stop by if there is anything I can assist you with I appreciate feedback, so continue to let me know how your dining experiences are I want to make sure every time you visit your Club is a remarkable experience!

MEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
Don Imbriale
The Men’s Golf Association (MGA) has had a fun, exciting season so far
Congratulations to the winners of our first major of the year – Ralph Martin and Jerry Stepanik
In June we have our next major – the President’s Cup This is an individual event A stroke play qualifier is scheduled for Friday June 2, 2023 (8 AM shotgun start on Lake) and the players with the 8 low net scores move on to single elimination match play the following week to determine the overall winner
On Saturday June 24, 2023 we have a 4-man team event with a shotgun start at 8 AM Team score is 1 best net ball on par 5s, 2 on par 4s, and 3 on par 3s As always, beer and soft drinks are provided after the event
You can still join MGA for our remaining events Dues have been reduced for any new member joining. Contact a member of the MGA board for details (Dave Travis, Ron Gasho, Mike Kelly, Rick Eschbach, Don Imbriale) We play in different format events usually with other golfers we might not ordinarily get to play with, then convene in the Jones Pub after each event for beer and soft drinks Entry fee for each event is $10, with $7 being paid back in shop credit to those finishing “in the money ” (40% of entrants)
Any CTCC member who is not a member of MGA may participate in up to two of our non-major events. We hope you would then consider joining for the rest of the season.

FITNESS UPDATE
Caroline Boyd-Castelly
Welcoming our hot summer months at CTCC means the start of Water Aerobics classes! Are you ready to get a workout in up at the pool? We’ll be keeping our same schedule for indoor classes and adding Water Aerobics to Wednesdays and Fridays 10:15-11:15 AM
Water aerobics is a low-impact exercise that offers resistance training and cardiovascular work, all within the individual’s comfort level and ability While exercising in water, there’s opportunity for variable intensity and pace, which means that it may be the primary exercise for one individual, and perhaps a recovery or rehab day for another In these classes we have the potential to build muscle, build core strength, increase mobility & flexibility, and train aerobically (cardio)
An added plus on all of this, is that water aerobics can be performed by those with joint aches or chronic pain, because the impact is softened by the water resistance. You can expect with CTCC Water Aerobics to perform movements for strength, core & balance training, and plyometrics for mobility; all of which can be completed in the shallow end, deep end work is not a requirement
FITNESS TIP
Introduce water fitness or water aerobics into your weekly or monthly routine for cross-training Utilizing the pool for cross training complements your other fitness activities or sports because it acts as an active recovery day light on joints, friendly on muscles Additionally, you may see reduced aches or soreness from water fitness.
Try this workout in the shallow end of the pool:
Alternating knee pulls (knee to chest)
Walking lunges
Alternating kicks
Power waves (torso twists)
Alternating quad pulls
