Later this month, we will be changing the Sports Club pool from chlorine to salt. The water will be cleaner, healthier, better for the skin, and more environmentally friendly. There will not be any pool closure as we change the system to salt. We are also working on scheduling the new carpet install for the Sports Club and will post the timeline when available.
As previously communicated, the Sports Café will be shutting for summer, however we do have beverages and grab and go items available for purchase behind the counter in the Sports Club In addition, should you want to order anything to eat from the Grille, you can call 520-744-7490 and a server will deliver your items to you by the pool, the ramada, or the café tables
Congratulations to Emily Hingle (now Blades), our Membership Experience Coordinator who was recently married. Emily does a great job with Member events, communication, and running our social media. Please make sure to congratulate Emily next time you see her at the Club.

This May ended up being a gorgeous weather m in Arizona, with the desert in full bloom at the b the month! We even experienced some light rain a week, which I cannot recall ever experiencing month of May.
We are excited to be heading into summertime some great new member events. My personal fa been the Member/Staff golf outings, hosted onc month. This event gives our staff and members opportunity to spend time enjoying the game w our home course. Most members who participat these events as their favorites and cannot wait t for the next one. If you have the opportunity, ple g p to play- space does fill up quickly. We have these events scheduled for 6/22, 7/27, and 8/17. The golf staff has also put together many fun “new” events at the club for the summertime. We will be adding some Sunset Gatherings throughout the summer as well.
The Saguaro renovation project has officially begun! The design team as well as the construction team walked the property with our team on May 22nd & 23rd and discussed the plans in detail. We are all very excited for the positive changes to the golf course on Saguaro. The major changes will be softening of the undulations of the greens, adding more forward tee boxes, increasing the grass coverage on the golf course while minimizing punishing sand traps, and improving the approach areas of the putting surfaces. We will be publishing some more in-detailed plans throughout the project. Remember- please stay clear of the Saguaro nine until further notice as we cannot have anyone walking around out there during construction.
I hope you all have a great summer and get an opportunity to travel and enjoy some vacation away from the desert heat.
Thank you all for being Members of the Club!

Upcoming dates:
The month of June will be quite busy for our Agronomy team as we begin to implement those cultural and mechanical practices critical to the overall health of the turf The South Course will be closed the first week of June as the greens heal from the scheduled May aerification Also planned to occur on the South during this closure will be the aerification of our tee surfaces This process is implemented to relieve compaction, expedite transition and promote a healthy soil structure among other things. The second and final application of Princep will be made to fairways, approaches, surrounds and rough to manage Poa Annua pressure and regulate remaining ryegrass growth. Fairway and rough heights currently being mowed at .300 will be raised to .500 through the remainder of the summer following the application. Spot treatment herbicide applications to tee edges and perimeter edges will continue through the month to maintain already
The North Course greens are scheduled for aerification on June 12th and 13th. The North will remain closed to allow us to aerify tee surfaces and apply the second application of Princep for Poa Annua control. In addition, we will begin repair efforts to specific bunkers throughout the North Course with exposed liners. This work will begin in June and continue through the summer. Fairway and rough heights of cut will be raised to .500 in conjunction with the South Course. Desert devegetation efforts and herbicide spot treatments implemented for weed pressure management and removal will continue on islands, tee edges and golf hole perimeters.
As temperatures begin to rise, expect to see handwatering of greens and supplemental irrigation on various areas of both courses throughout the day to

We are officially entering summertime in the Sonoran Desert, leaving behind a very eventful May and heading towards the slower season over the next few months. Dove Mountain was the beneficiary of a very unusual weather month where we did not see temps crack the triple digit mark and saw some measurable rain and had some high humidity to help growth on the course and on the greens after aerification. The result is our Wild Burro and Tortolita nines looking and playing at a very high level still, and the amazing blooms that the cacti provide us this time of year. I hope that you all continue to try and beat the heat by enjoying cooler morning temps and some fantastic conditions here at Dove.
We had two Member Events in the month of May which were very well attended, and we had some very good golf played during competition.
The Sayonara Saguaro Scramble took place on Cinco de Mayo and was our last Club hosted member event on Saguaro prior to the major renovation project that began on May 22nd. Below are the results from the event:
1st Place – Joe and Deborah Donchess/Stan and Adriana Ross
2nd Place – John and Kim Hillman/Vinnie and Elena Abucewicz
3rd Place - Kit and Alison Nidever/Thomas and Sandy Kennedy
4th Place – Barry and Adele Tiller/Joe and Diane Wolf
Thank you to everyone who enjoyed this final 9&Wine event and we look forward to reopening Saguaro with a fun filled event in the Spring
Our other May event was the Member/Staff Golf Outing on Thursday, May 11th. We had 28 members play with sevenof our golf staff members in a Step-Aside-Scramble format. Our staff greatly enjoyed getting to spend some quality time with our Members on the golf course. In the end, one team was victorious, and you could hear them having fun all day!
Congratulationsto John & Kim Klippstein, Eve McDermott, and Eileen Vollaro who teamed up with our Director of GolfJake Hermes to shoot 19 under par for the tournament. Our runner-up finishers were Bob & Margo Unthank, LuAnne Johnson, Hugo Folli, and our Assistant Golf ProfessionalDylan Healey.
