Dear Black Diamond Members:

I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for being so supportive, kind, and patient as we continue the search for a new General Manager. We truly have a wonderful membership, blessed with people who are passionate about Black Diamond Ranch. I have enjoyed every minute of my “dual” roles and will never forget my number one mission when I became your Director of Golf – “Take Care of the Members.”

I am very proud to be part of such a great club and look forward to this summer as we begin a wonderful new chapter at Black Diamond! The Ranch renovation project will commence in early June, and we will have a brandnew irrigation system and renovated bunkers and tees.

Ken & Peggy Hail

Ken & Peggy hail from Spokane Washington via brief stops in Desin and Brentwood here in Lecanto. We met while working for AT&T in Portland Oregon. Our careers took us to Seattle Washington, Morristown New Jersey and ultimately back to Seattle In 2015 we retired in Spokane Washington where we endured cold winters until we decided to move to Florida At our first stop in Destin, we felt the winter season was still too cold for us, so we moved south to Lecanto. We moved to Black Diamond in May of 2022 and believe we have found ultimate retirement home. Fortunately, we have been able to entertain visiting family and friends while enjoying the golf club as well as our beautiful surroundings here at Black Diamond Ranch As a visiting friend remarked the other day, "with the pool, living on the golf course, and the great weather, what more could you ask for " We feel so fortunate to be here and hope to make many new friends as well as to enjoy the beauty and amenities of Black Diamond Ranch.

FEATURED RECIPE: CANADIAN CHEDDAR CHEESE SOUP

Ingredients Needed:

-1/2 pound of bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces

-1 medium red onion, cut into 1/4-inch pieces

-3 celery ribs, cut into 1/4-inch pieces

-4 tablespoons butter

-1 cup all-purpose flour

-3 cups chicken stock

-4 cups milk

-1 pound white cheddar cheese, grated

-1 tablespoon Tabasco sauce

-1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

-Coarse salt, freshly ground pepper to taste

-1/2 cup warm Canadian golden lager or any pale lager-style beer

-Chopped scallions or chives, for garnish

Cooking Instructions

1 In a 4- or 5-quart Dutch oven, cook bacon, stirring, over medium heat for about 5 minutes, or until lightly browned

2. Add red onion, celery, and butter and sauté until onion has softened, about 5 minutes.

3. Add flour and cook, stirring constantly, for about 4 minutes over medium heat Whisk in chicken stock and bring to boil for 1 minute Reduce heat to simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally

4 Add milk and continue to simmer for 15 minutes Do not boil after milk is added

5. Remove from heat and add cheese, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Blend with immersion blender until cheese is melted and soup is smooth. Stir in warm beer. If the soup is too thick, thin with some warm milk

6 Serve the soup hot, garnished with chopped scallions or chives

NATIONAL DIRECTOR OF AGRONOMY

T J Guyer - Escalante Golf

Please meet T.J. Guyer, the National Director of Agronomy for Escalante Golf. T.J. will be here periodically to direct the Maintenance Crew and ensure a smooth transition as we search for a new Director of Agronomy here at Black Diamond Ranch. T.J. will oversee the Ranch Course renovation project, and we could not have a more knowledgeable and qualified person in charge!

T.J. hails from Texas and in a short time has already made a positive impact with the entire Golf Maintenance Operation. If you happen to see T.J. on the course, please stop by and say hello!

The Ranch renovation project is scheduled to begin on June 5th and be completed (weather permitting) by November 1st . We are fortunate to have Tripp Davis (CEO of Tripp Davis & Associates Golf Architecture Design) here to renov Course Bunkers and Tees while th irrigation system is being replaced Architecture firm has worked on so courses in the country, including A Club, Augusta Country Club, and O name a few.

This is the beginning of an excitin Black Diamond Ranch, and I wish t for your patience and cooperation journey!

During the month of May, we will be conducting our Mother’s Day Sale from May 1st-14th featuring 40% off all apparel, and 20% off on all Hats, Gloves, Golf Balls, and Shoes! This is by far the biggest sale of the year, so there is no better time to take advantage of these huge discounts! For those of you with tournament winnings credit, this is a good opportunity to use them

We have had tremendous success with our XXIO and Callaway Demo Days, and members who have switched to them are realizing increased distance and accuracy Most golfers are playing with outdated equipment that does not maximize their playing ability, resulting in loss of distance and accuracy No matter what your handicap is, these clubs will help you hit the ball farther and straighter As we have full Demo sets, just stop by prior to your next round and take a set out on the course

Happy May! Be sure to join us for Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 14th from 9-2:00 pm Chef Javier will be serving a special Mother’s Day Brunch Come and celebrate with us!

Memorial Day is Monday, May 29th We have our annual Memorial Day Mixer tournament in the morning In honor of our Veteran’s, from 10-3:00 pm come and enjoy a BBQ and games
