GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE

May is here and we are looking forward to warm and dry weather. The tennis courts are busy, the dining room is filling up, and the golf course is starting to green up with the growing season upon us

The next time you visit the club give a warm River Club welcome to the several new team members starting on the maintenance team, F&B, golf, tennis, and pool.

Even with the rainy weather, the club had a very busy April. We have begun many projects around the club to improve landscaping, seating areas, replacements of HVAC, etc, and we will continue our efforts throughout the summer to make your experience more enjoyable Keep an eye out the coming weeks and months as the upgrades continue

We look forward to the pool opening on Friday, May 19th. Several upgrades will be completed prior to opening. During the off season we replaced the primary pumps in all pools, replastered and tiled the slide pool, resurfaced the slide, added additional furniture, recovered all cushions, and made several upgrades to the cabana structure The pool season calendar will be out shortly filled with new events for both family and adults

We look forward to seeing you at all the upcoming events this May!

Thank you for being a member.

The River Club

1138 Crescent River Pass Suwanee, GA 30024

Dear Members,

It has been fun to watch The River Club flourish over the last 3 years Our mantra has been to establish The River Club as a Membership by Invitation Club, and we are thrilled to say that our Invitational initiative has been a success, garnering many amazing new Members The referral culture has been primarily responsible for creating and nurturing a fun, friendly, and vibrant Club community that we all enjoy today

Referrals continue to be a focus for us Each year, the Club loses Members to life stages such as relocation or change in lifestyle For this reason, we ask Members to continue to refer their friends and associates to the Club, ensuring our vibrant Club community is well maintained

In this spirit, it is our pleasure to introduce our new referral event, taking place in April 2024: The Gathering

gath·er·ing A coming together of people for the purpose of celebration

At this special event, we will honor those that are building the best asset in our Club: our Members There will be golf, camaraderie, gifts, laughter, joy, and most of all, FUN While the prizes are not the reason Members refer, we are excited to gift trips to places like Pursell Farms, the Arizona desert, and complimentary carts for a whole year In addition, each participant will receive tons of prizes and specialty f d d d k h lf f bl

We are excited to announce that the swimming pool will be opening soon for the spring and summer season! As the weather starts to warm up, we can't wait to provide our members with a refreshing and relaxing place to cool off and enjoy the sunshine.

Our team has been hard at work preparing the pool area for the opening We have checked all of the equipment, cleaned the pool and surrounding area, and made sure everything is in top condition for our members to enjoy We have also implemented new safety protocols and procedures to ensure the health and well-being of our members and staff We also will have many fun food and beverage items at the Cabana as well

In addition to the regular pool hours, we are planning a number of fun and exciting events throughout the season, including pool parties, movie nights, and swimming lessons for children. We encourage all members to take advantage of these events and activities to make the most of their membership.

We would also like to remind all members of the importance of following the rules and guidelines of the pool area This includes showering before entering the pool, refraining from running or diving, and following any posted safety instructions By working together, we can ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone

Finally, we would like to thank our members for their continued support and participation We are looking forward to a great season at the pool and hope to see everyone there soon!

If you have any questions or concerns about the pool opening, please do not hesitate to contact us.

TURF TALK

As we continue into spring, the golf course has continued to green up significantly! Golf season seems to finally be in full swing. Many of you know that we dryjected our putting surfaces back on April 11 th , and the process was a huge success. The greens are healing up well, and we look forward to being fully healed in preparation for the member tournament season. The picture below came from #18 green and was taken only 8 days into recovery.

We have a couple of large-scale projects to look forward to happening in May. Regal Chemical will be here on May 11 th to apply our annual spring fertilizer on all playing surfaces besides greens. This process should have no impact on golf course playability. Ground Cover Solutions will be around the club starting on May 15 th to pine straw the golf course as well as install flowers around the clubhouse and sports center. May is busy season for the Agronomy team as we are starting to finally grow some grass, with this being said mowers will be out in full force daily. The safety of the maintenance staff is of utmost importance. I kindly ask that all our members be considerate while playing golf around the maintenance staff.

Spring is an exciting time here at The River Club with many golf tournaments and member events to look forward to. As always, thank you all for your continued support!

This article addresses the age-old problem of SLOW PLAY We all need talk about SLOW PLAY. We all can identify those that play slower. However, we seem to forget about the things that can help remedy it. I researched SLOW PLAY and found several ideas to help us combat the SLOW PLAY problem Many of us already adhere to some of these suggestions; however, we may find some additional ideas to help us Playing at a better pace is not about hurrying up or rushing around the course It is simply about being more efficient with your valuable time, as well as everyone else’s. Adopting this mindset – and not being afraid to share it with your fellow players – will ultimately add enjoyment to your golf experience. Here are some recognized tips for improving pace of play:

Start Smart-

Confirm your tee time in advance and make it a point to arrive at the tee early with your golf equipment in order, ready to play. Remember essentials like extra balls, tees, gloves and appropriate clothing for the day’s weather conditions.

Play from a set of tees that is comfortable for you – one where you are more likely to hit lofted irons into greens instead of hybrids or fairway woods It is acceptable for players in the same group to play from different tees.

Try alternate forms of play to speed up your roundMatch Play, Stableford, Best-Ball and other formats are easy and fun alternatives to individual stroke play because not every player has to hole out on every hole There are multiple resources online and in print to learn about the many different golf formats. Try one out.

Minimize your time on the tee-

On the tee it is usually acceptable for players to “hit when ready ” You can also save time by playing a provisional ball (Rule 27-2) if you think your original ball might be lost or out of bounds.

Plan your shot before you get to your ball-

Once you are off the tee, think ahead Determine your yardage and make your club selection before it is your turn to play Very often, you can do this while others are playing, without disruption If you take your glove off between shots, have it back on before it is your turn to play. Even a small step like this saves time.

Keep your pre-shot routine short-

Pick your line of play once and trust yourself Try to take no more than one practice swing, then set up to the ball and play your shot. Most importantly, be ready to hit when it is your turn. Be efficient after your shot too. Start moving toward your next shot promptly.

Aim to play in 20 seconds-

From club selection to pre-shot routine to execution, strive to hit your shot in 20 seconds when it is your turn to play Help keep play moving at a brisk pace. Stableford and Best-Ball play.

When sharing a cart, use a buddy systemDon’t wait in the cart while your cart-mate hits and then drive to your ball. Get out and walk to your ball with a few clubs. Be ready to play when it is your turn and then let your cart-mate pick you up. Or, drive to your ball after you drop your cart-mate off and then pick him or her up after you hit

Be helpful to others in your groupFollow the flight of all tee shots, not just your own Once in the fairway, help others look for their ball if you already know the location of yours. Volunteer to fill in a divot or rake a bunker for another player if needed Be ready to attend the flagstick for others

Keep up with the group in front of youYour correct position on the course is immediately behind the group in front of you, not immediately in front of the group behind you. Arrive at your next shot just before the group in front leaves the area in front of you If you are consistently not able to keep up and a gap opens in front of you, invite the group behind you to play through, irrespective of the number of players in the group

Be efficient on the putting greenMark your ball and lift and clean it when you arrive at the putting green so you will be ready to replace it when it is your turn to play You can usually line up your putt while others are putting, without disturbing them Leave your clubs on the side of the putting green closest to the next tee and leave the green promptly after holing out. Wait until the next tee to record your score.

Remember that picking up your ball is permitted by the USGA Handicap SystemIf not in an individual stroke play competition, it is generally OK to pick up your ball and move on to the next hole if you are “out” of a hole and want to maintain pace of play. This applies in match play and many forms of stroke play, including

None of these ideas are intended to make you feel pressured or uncomfortable These measures are to ensure that everyone on the golf course has a more “time efficient” good time and experience.

Hope to see you at the Course!
