James PaigeSpring has certainly sprung here at Kingsmill
The golf courses are very quickly greening up with the warm weather we have been experiencing. Our crew has been mowing all our turf and it is certainly good to see the mowers back out on the course
Upcoming, we will be applying fertility and preemergent herbicides in the rough on the Plantation and Woods courses. This will allow us to keep any weeds under control as we further enter the golfing season The fertility component of the application will aid in giving further definition between the short cut turf and our rough. As part of gearing up for the growing season, our team is growing, There will be new faces out on the golf course so that we can continue to provide an excellent golfing experience We have also hired a new mechanic.
Many of you may have already noticed that we have labeled our rakes “leave rakes in bunkers ” By doing so, you are very much helping our staff in regards to mowing around these areas This will allow our team to mow around the bunkers without having to get on and off the mower to place the rakes back into the bunkers. We just ask that you tuck the rake against the edge of the bunker so that it doesn’t interfere with play
We look forward to another great golfing season at Kingsmill. We will see you on the course!
Jimmy GabelThe number one cause of hitting the slice is an open club face. An open club face often happens in the takeaway at the start of the backswing. A great reference point would be to match your club face to your spine angle in the take away. The next time you are out practicing be aware of the club face angle at the start of the backswing. Here are two pictures below that show an open club face (picture 1) versus a square club face (picture 2) in the takeaway.
Thank you for taking the time to read our Golf Tips of May, and we look forward to seeing you out on the course!

What is your favorite thing about Kingsmill?
Variety and accessibility of three golf courses, plus all the other amenities are nice. It’s a very pretty neighborhood, and our family feels very comfortable
Favorite menu item?
Burger Night burger at Elements.
Favorite vacation spot?
Capetown, South Africa. The Safari expeditions are life changing! We also enjoyed the wine tours and everything else about the travel experience Highly recommended!
In 1995, April, who was working at JamestownYorktown Foundation as a tour guide, exhorted me to volunteer at Jamestown Settlement, where the work involved maintenance and rigging of the three ships at the museum. Taking her advice, I ended up spending over 12 years as a volunteer crew member. As a result, I was as one of those selected to sail the newly built Susan Constant from Rockport, Maine to Jamestown in May of 2006. It was a special, once-in-a-lifetime treat to spend almost a week sailing a replica 17th century vessel down the East coast

Hello from the culinary corner. We are very excited about the beautiful weather, and the increase in business at both Eagles and James Landing Grille.
May brings exciting things to the Resort Currents, located at The River Pool will open for weekends only on May 13th and then will be open daily starting Memorial Day weekend. Also, in May, Eagles will be extending its hours, same menu format, but daily lunch and dinner entrée specials will be offered. Pasta night, Burger night, and Prime Rib night has seen increases week over week since we first implemented them 6+ weeks ago
Please don’t forget to join us for Mother’s Day. Take the load and worries off of Mom and let us handle your dining experience. I’ll also wash the dishes so that you have more time to spend as a family and to show Mom how much you really care
Have a great May and enjoy the beautiful weather I look forward to seeing you around the Resort
Sincerely,
ChefDirector
