As we enter the fall season of golf, we cannot believe that the season is nearing the end. We hope you have been inviting your friends and colleagues to experience the Oaks Course. This is a wonderful time of the year to refer new members to the Club as our foliage peaks and the course shows another side of its beauty. Now is the time your friends and colleagues are assessing their club options for the 2023 golf season, and we would like the opportunity to speak with them.
Be sure to let Tony Giannetti and Justin Komins know who you are bringing to the Club so we can welcome them to the International!

Aeration is an essential program to keep playing surfaces healthy and in good condition Aeration primarily is performed to control organic matter i.e., decaying roots and grass stems relieve soil compaction, stimulate root growth and improve drainage. If organic matter becomes too thick, it acts like a sponge and holds water at the surface after rain or irrigation Excessive organic matter also inhibits root growth, reduces oxygen levels in the soil, encourages disease and eventually can lead to turf failure
Furthermore, excessive organic matter creates soft surfaces prone to ball marks, foot printing and inconsistent playing conditions. Aeration and topdressing are the most effective ways to control organic matter and maintain smooth, firm putting surfaces
Playing conditions are of the utmost importance for most golfers, and aeration is needed to keep turf healthy and playing well Aeration can be disruptive, but the long term benefits of aeration far outweigh the short lived disruption. The next time you play on greens that were recently aerated, keep in mind that aeration is performed for the long term health of the course.
I am often bewildered when golfers miss greens to the short side of a flagstick In 98% of shot situations, you are better off playing your approach shots to centers of the green rather than aiming at the flagstick
This goes for chipping and pitch shots as well The distance aimed away from the flagstick in shorter shots may not be as extreme, but most times it would be beneficial to aim a few feet more to the right or left depending on the slope of the green.

The fall has officially arrived in New England with the NFL season under way and the cooler temperatures occurring overnight The International golf shop is fully prepared to meet your fall golfing needs as well as your apparel needs.
Peter Millar, Foot Joy, and Greyson are all very well represented in both women and men ’ s lines The hot trend this fall will be the layering options permitting Layering permits you to start with three or four pieces and stripping them off as the round continues. The perfect 50 60 degree golfing layered outfit offered by Peter Millar would be a ¼ zip Perth Mélange performance shirt covered with the hyperlight hybrid jacket and a hyperlight hybrid vest
After a few holes and as the temperatures are getting warmer, you can maintain your comfort by taking each layer off based on your comfort.
The men ’ s and women ’ s Cokato Hoodie’s has picked up where they left off last spring for the fall The fall colors and multiple design options continue to be a very popular piece for the fall. The new fall collections are a big hit.
